[ARCHIVE] Outdated UBU Tool related Questions, Reports and Suggestions

Hello all , nice to meet you !

i have read many post about modding for upgrade bios . I have actually ASUS MAXIMUS GENE VIII Z170 bios version 3201 original . My processor is 6700K but i want to modding for CLK 8700K ou 8086K.

I have downloaded bios 3401 . i have read the tutorial of modded bios but i have problem. My new 3401.CAP is ok with VBIOS 1054 . In the original file , it’s 1046.
When i check 3401MODED.CAP with MMTOOL last version patched , i see correctly Vbios 1054 but in UBU , before change Microcode CPU, i see 1046 …
For information intel ME is okay
If you have the same problem or solution , i need it :slight_smile: because i dont understand why ubu don"t see the upgrade of vbios.

best regards . Thanks you for all.

At the moment, another user is engaged in the project. The text file shows the changes for me, so that later I will not forget it when I publish it.

A later, the next release will be published, where all changes will be indicated.

UEFI BIOS Updater v1.69.6
Updated:
- UEFIFind v0.10.10, UEFIExtract v0.13.5, UEFITool v0.22.1
Removed:
- ME Analyzer
Replacement:
- romhdr.exe -> SetDevID v0.1

SetDevID v0.1 Final

To work with OROM:
- checks support DevID
- setting DevID
- correct CS8

Support OROM:
- LAN Intel, Broadcom, Atheros/Qualcomm
- SATA Marvell 91xx/92xx

Command lime:
1

SetDevID <devid> <inFile> <outFile>

Example for Intel:
1

SetDevID 1502 IntlOromCL.LOM IntlOromCL_1502.LOM

In my Device Manager my LAN Hardware ID is 'PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15B8&SUBSYS_86721043&REV_00' How would I set the Device ID on the latest Intel LAN ROM Boot Agent GE. I'm confused.

Edit: I know the command of course, just don't know the devid to use.

DevID 15B8 Intel Boot Agent CL

Hello,
during CPU microcode update with my Z97 bios 2203, UBU V1.70rc7 reported this error:
Choice:u
[Preparing for replacement]
BIOS file backup
Empty GUID: File replaced
mCode GUID: File replaced
mCode GUID: File replaced
"3echo" non è riconosciuto come comando interno o esterno,
un programma eseguibile o un file batch.
mCode FFS: File replaced
mCode FFS: File replaced

Is it normal or there is a fault?
Thanks in advance

EDIT by Fernando: This post has been moved into the correct UBU Discussion thread. The other one is reserved for SoniX and his update announcements.

Not critical. Fixed.

@AL
Update CPU Microcodes
For Asrock 6-9 series, Asus x299 and MSI x299 use only MMTool.

The latest bios of my Z97 motherboard according to UBU has outdated Intel RST OROM, EFI SataDriver, EFI GOP Driver, OROM VBIOS HSW-BDW, OROM LAN QCM-Atheros, EFI Lx Network Killer UNDI and Intel CPU MicroCode modules. Can anyone advice which of these drivers/roms to update if running windows in acpi or ide mode, besides Intel CPU MicroCode modules?

Can u tell me why in the ubu tool sonix don’t put the EFI GOP Driver HSW-BDW - 5.5.1044 and he has left the EFI GOP Driver HSW-BDW - 5.5.1034 ?

@boombastik

As far as i know 5.5.1034 is the latest HSW-BDW GOP, 1044 would be the VBIOS version.

@SoniX

Have you seen this Intel CannonLake GOP 11.0.1014? i looked around the forum, but didn’t see it posted.

Intel CannonLake GOP 11.0.1014.zip (43.9 KB)

@Pacman
Thank you, put in a piggy bank. :))

Interestingly, I looked through the archives and noticed that we had never encountered GOP versions 4 and 12.

@SoniX

Realtek Lan UNDI 2.046B1 Date: 2018/07/10

Realtek Lan UNDI 2.046B1.zip (55.1 KB)

It seems a beta UNDI driver but thanks anyway.

Yes, this is beta, the final version on the official website.

gop_380B6B4F-1454-41F2-A6D3-61D1333E8CB4.zip (47 KB)

with this version and mmt 5.2.0.24 or 5.0.0.7

Option 4 - Other sata controller
I have 10 errors instance of ‘exfind’ is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

Never happened before ??
Asus (Aptio4) z87ws

EDIT
With admin rights

Same errors with all v1.7 versions in my case 1.7 rc3 and rc7, no probs with 1.69.16 and 1.69.17.4 (mmtool 5.2.0.24 patched)

I Have the same issue

@Sylar76 What's next? I want to learn how do it.

@Lost_N_BIOS Thank you!
edit:
I just update VBIOS and EFI GOP. 'vbioshsw.dat' and 'vbthsw.ffs files are extracted from ASRock H97 Anniversary. This guide from @SoniX was helpfull (ASRock motherboard owners, please read note "OROM VBIOS 2166").

Modified BIOS doesn't work - tested with Celeron G1840 (onbord and extrernal GPU). I was flash backup with programmer.

Any suggestions?

That’s too far back into a long strung out discussion. You need your own thread for this maybe, then we can start over.
As for now, I am not sure what you are asking, what you have done, what you have linked, etc none of it is in any context for me even if going back to that post.

Sounds like your mod didn’t work though, try again and use different method (ie update yourself, properly from vBIOS repo, without pulling vBIOS from another board like that guide mentions)
If you need it done for you please specify what all you need, this is why I said probably best to have your own thread, so anyone helping can keep track of what’s going on.
