My motherboard is ASRock 990FX Extreme4
The results from the test of UBU Tool are:
OROM AMD AHCI 4391 : ok
OROM AMD RAID MISC 4392 : ok
OROM AMD RAID MISC 4393 : ok
EFI AMD RAID and EFI AMD Utility : not working - There is not Raid - I don’t know why
LAN OROM PXE and EFI UNDI : ok
Marvell SATA Option ROM and EFI (88SE9120 and 88SE91a0 - firmware 1.0.0.1038) : not working
- when I boot from Marvell I have a cursor blink - except from
firmware 1.0.0.1027 and 1.0.0.1029
When I update the AMD CPU Support AM3+
EFI AMD AGESA OrochiPI : ok - but the agesa driver include the ìCode or not
The uefi driver 1.0.0.45 is not newer from 1.0.0.49
Thank you Sonix for the hard work. UBU Tool is a very good utility. Please support it.
@shm0
In your BIOS needs to be changed to 5 modules:
RaidX64, RaidSetup, ScsiBus, ScsiDisk, HiiDatabase.
Now I’m doing them in the script. But until you can try to transfer from another BIOS. Follow GUID, they must match.
Specify mode Legacy, you have both 4392 and 4393 OROM work?
And do not update AGESA.
@kgbab
I’m preparing changes.
That I do not know. Better versed in this lordkag.
Thanks for the info mate.
but im too lazy right now
But i have some off topic question excuse me :<
I can set the operation for my sata ports 1-4 and 5-6.
If i set RAID for 1-4 (raid 5) and can only select RAID or IDE for port 5-6.
AHCI not available. If i set it to RAID Mode Trim is not working for my SSD. (even raid expert shows that trim is supported / enabled)
Is it somehow possible to enable trim in raid mode or mod the bios to enable ahci on port 5 and 6?
Currently i have my ssd on the asmedia port with the windows standard ahci driver and trim works. (windows 8)
The newer asmedia driver 2.0.0.0+ doesnt support trim so i use the windows standard one.
But the AMD Sata controller should be faster then the asmedia one i guess?
//Update
with RAID Rom 3.3.1540.19 i cant enable Read Cache. 3.3.1540.17 works fine.
UBU v1.8.0 RC3
Added EFI modules ScsiBus, ScsiDisk, HiiDatabase
Rebuild EFI modules RaidX64, RaidSetup
@shm0
@kgbab
Please check EFI RAID.

@ shm0
I can not say exactly as done in AMD, but Intel, if you enable RAID, it works for all ports without exception.
Yes, ASMedia will slow down.
Hmm … On account of the cache also can not say.
Thanks for the update mate.
EFI Raid works fine now. Cache also works. good job
i used 3.3.1540.17 but i guess that makes no difference for the efi raid?
Maybe it is possible to mod the amd raid rom to support trim like the intel one?
AMD AHCI 4391 OK
AMD RAID 4392 OK
AMD RAID 4393 OK
EFI RAID and UTILITY OK!
LAN OK
MARVELL 88SE9120-a0 1.0.0.1038 not working - only 1.0.0.1027 and 1.0.0.1029 - why?
AGESA - not updating
Thanks Sonix
Thank you. Now we need to understand where the problem is in Legacy Mode.
In UEFI mode OROM not used.
I’m not remember AMD 439 in RAID and AHCI, TRIM support or not. At the expense of the patch like Intel, now honestly say do not know.
I am interested, as working module EFI RAID
Send me 1.0.0.1027, since 1029 modules 9120 as 9120, 91a0 as 9120.
kgbab can you please check if you can enable read cache in raidexpert with *.19 rom ?
EFI RAID 1.0.0.49 is working well until now
Marvell why not?
Agesa?
Thanks for your interest
Can you switch to legay rom and check again if you can enable read cache in raidexpert pls?
Yes I can enable read cache or read ahead in legacy rom 3.3.1540.19
You can or not?
I can not.
With 3.3.1540.17 i can enable it.
I tried again with 3.3.1540.19 and now i cant go back to 3.3.1540.17.
Hangs on HDD Detection.
What to do now?
Flash a bios with rom 3.3.1540.17 or enable read ahead option
I flashed back original bios with has 3.3.1540.17 but it hangs on the hard disk detection.
Detecting drives
And nothing happens.
With 3.3.1540.19 i cant enable read ahead. it is greyed out.
//Update
Flashed the original bios through dos and not through the efi flash tool.
Works again.
But still no Read Ahead with 3.3.1540.19
Asus motherboards are very good but strange.
You must clear the cmos - reset bios
or the array destroyed
Have you a backup? - rebuild the array and restore your system.
add:
I’m glad that you found a solution.
I have not a solution for raid efi 3.3.1540.19 now.
Yeah it works again but only with original bios.
I had new efi working once. but now i cant get it to work again.
anyway im tired now its 4 am here
i will try again tomorrow.
thanks everybody.
// Update
Okay. I think i nailed it down.
I have Win 8.1 installed in UEFI Mode.
The Problem is Legacy Mode of the Raid Controller and EFI Mode of Win 8.1 i guess.
I cant activate Read Ahead in Legacy Mode. regardless of the Version 3.3.1540.17 and 3.3.1540.19 both dont work.
Sorry guys
If i switch to EFI Raid Mode i can activate again.
But currently only my old version works. 1.0.0.17.
Now i have to figure out how to get the new EFI Raid Version to work again.
It worked once. but now i cant get it to work. just freezes at boot.
Dunno why i will check tomorrow.
Finally some sleep!

After having read all your latest posts and having watched the clock while doing your work, I want to send you a big THANKYOU for your efforts to make BIOS modding as easy and safe as possible for users with an AMD platform.
You can be proud about what you did (and I am glad to have you here)!
Good luck further on!
Fernando
You probably can forget that.
Only an expert like CPL0 would be able to find out the bytes, which have to be altered, and the way they have to be changed. I doubt, that he has an AMD system and the time for the required tests.
@SoniX
Hello SoniX, i’ve downloaded the latest UBU V.1.70 (17/07/2014) and it seems that something is wrong when trying to add “Intel OROM VBIOS and EFI GOP Driver” because when i choose this option the CMD window quit without error or warning.
I was trying to update a Gigabyte Z77-UD5H BIOS and for a quick test i’ve tried even the latest official for ASRock Z77 OC Formula and issue is the same.
I know that you’re involved in AMD UBU development but a revision of code i think is needed.
Thank for your precious and appreciated work.
Have a nice day,
Cheers.

@killkernel
Hello.
Take a screenshot with the error. Not seeing anything, I guess I can not.
Edit:
Understand what the problem, the screen is not necessary.
Replace all %ve% to %vi% or download version from 07/21/2014.

@kgbab
Please check the version 1.0.0.1033 for 9120/91a0.
This is the original, as is.
@lordkag
Hello!
What I’m confused. Here in this BIOS CrosshairV-Formula-ASUS-1703.zip, it turns out that both MISC (FC and FD) for 4392??
Marvell_1033_9120.rar (18.4 KB)
CrosshairV-Formula-ASUS-1703.zip (2.37 MB)
@SoniX
Hello, the version of UBU 1.70 that i downloaded is the latest 21/07/2014 and i’ve downloaded it today in early morning…
As said before the the CMD window quit suddenly and it is impossible to take screenshot, the only way was to take a video and here it is: http://www.mediafire.com/watch/dydrkazdu…U_170_Issue.mp4
I’ve done the substitutions of “%ve% to %vi%” and tested UBU and it works.
For my curiosity i’ve re-downloaded the UBU 1.70 and i’ve found the substitution of “%ve% to %vi%” done…have you corrected it and re-uploaded?
Thanks a lot!
Cheers,
KK
