Do you mean the original or the BIOS file after the modification done by the UBU tool? Usually the modded BIOS file is automaticly named bios.bin by the UBU tool. You can find it within the UBU folder. Don’t forget to rename it, before you are going to flash the modded BIOS.
No, I am not using UBU… I am using the Broadwell microcode he posted alongside my BIOS Mod to test an E3-1285L v4 Broadwell LGA1150 sample on a Clevo P7-series (Haswell) Notebook.
And here is again AMD GOP 1.58.0.0.0, but this time it is signed and has a newer date.
Also, in this file you will find a new GOP and VBIOS, the successor of ValleyView, named CherryView. Since it has a version of 8.0.1028, it is a confirmation that Skylake GOP is 9.0.xxxx.
I updated all of my bios rom modules using UBU tool and noticed that Windows 7 fails to initialize my second gpu . Says not enough resources. I have a multiboot system and Windows 8.1 doesn’t have this problem but anyhow with the old stock bios no problem . Am I out of option rom space? How can I verify amount of ram used?
Confused about the updating of vbios. According to guide UBU can not transfer original rom details and you need to use Intel BMP tool to transfer settings. Fernando can you please clarify its proper usage?
I need a statement from SoniX, whether this vBios update restriction is still valid or not.
Thank you for replying. If Sonix is listening please clarify. In anycase I followed the brief guide you had and think I was successful in transferring the settings for the vbios. For example lets say I am trying to update a Sandybridge device id 102 device. I extracted the original 102 rom and placed it in the same folder of the appropriate latest vbios downloaded from your collection. There were 4 folders labeled like this IVBI, HSII, or SBIB. So I assumed SBIB was the sandybridge folder. I then ran the BMP utility and selected my original vbios with the .hsf script file and saved the settings to a file. Then I reran the BMP utility and selected the newer vbios .dat file instead along with the .hsf file from before and selected ‘apply settings’ of which the BMP utility directed me to load a file that I previously saved two steps back and all the configurations suddenly changed and thus I saved the file. Renamed it VBIOS.DAT and put it into the main module folder. But theres no way to tell if UBU took notice of that because it already had that version of vbios in its modules/vga folder.
Thanks
EDIT: I can confirm that placing the VBIOS.DAT file in the module folder of ubu 1.19 does nothing and is ignored. Note: transfering the settings in BMP also transfers an old build number so you have to update that one by hand. That’s how I noticed it wasn’t updated. In the end I just used mmtool. Not sure what a difference that would make any how.
I’ve downloaded latest UBU 1.20 where Modules>VGA>2170.bin has been removed. I’ve followed the link in your release post, but I’m not sure what I’m supposed to download. I’ve found this post. The Sendspace link allows to download a msi installer and a vbios package, the rghost host only the msi installer. Is there any post with detailed instructions for building correct latest vbios file for i5-2500k on Z68 board?
Unfortunately, the description of settings and instructions on their use, no. Everything has to do at your own risk. But for transferring settings from one version of the VBIOS to another, with the same version and size of the VBT, there is one simple method.
Long time since I visited UBU. My motherboard is ASUS P8Z77-V Pro (with UBU-modded 2104 BIOS) and my CPU is Intel i7 3770K. I just checked out the latest UBU 1.20 release and needed to ask some questions: 1. UBU 1.20 release notes state that VBIOS OROM for Ivy/Sandy/Haswell has been removed, but for me it still shows upgrade possibility to OROM VBIOS 2170 and EPI GOP Driver 3.0.1027 when I run UBU.bat. However, I already use those VBIOS OROM and EPI GOP Driver. I cannot find any NEWER HD4000 OROM VBIOS and EPI GOP Driver than the one I already have. They were supposed to be listed in this thread, but they weren’t… 2. I have Intel RST RAID ROM 13.5.0.2164 on my Z77 board that works. Will the 14.0.0.2198 ROM work too? 3. Can I update my ASMedia 106 SATA firmware to 3.80 on my ASUS Z77-V Pro? I currently have 0.954 firmware that works. I heard that 3.80 firmware is for Z87+ motherboards only. Will it work on my board? 4. Are there any firmware or OROM BIOS update for ASUS P8Z77-V Pro Atheros WiFi card?
