Hi guys,
I’ve got this Asus that shutdown randomly. Sometimes It turns off in the BIOS, sometimes it works for hours with no problems.
Some technicians told me that it could have a ME issue and needs a clear ME.
I’m new into this, this is my first “modern” computer, so can please anyone help me in doing this?
Thanks in advance for the reply!
If the problem was ME related it would either always not boot or always turn off after 30 minutes, not randomly. You need to look elsewhere.
Thanks a lot for the reply!
I’ve double checked everything in this computer and it seems that everything is ok. I’ve also changed and removed battery, swapped/removed ram, changed hdd and operating system but nothing: the issue randomly is still there.
Asking on other forums on the net, some guys talked me about clear me, I even didn’t know this.
Do you think I should not try to clear me?
Overheating was the first thing I’ve checked but it’s not possible: the issue is too random to be overheating.
Sounds like a power supply issue to me.
It happens also while running only with battery.
Don’t you believe that I should try anyway to clear me?
Before looking for any hardware issue, I believe it could be a try…
The aforementioned symptoms do not indicate a problem with the ME firmware. Cleaning the latter is usually a huge PITA due to blocked read/write access to its region at the SPI chip, unless you have a hardware programmer. To see if you can avoid all this trouble, you can check the ME firmware’s health by running MEInfo and MEManuf tools, as explained at the Management Engine thread. Make sure you have ME drivers installed first or use the DOS/EFI versions outside of Windows.
I’ll try it tomorrow, thanks for the help!
