ASUS Prime B450M-A/CSM Bios Unlock

Hi, I am requesting an unlocked Asus Prime B450M-A/CSM with all menus and options unlocked because I want to install Windows 7 but I keep getting the bsod every single time I try to install it. I tried modding the BIOS myself with AMIBCP and flash it according to the Ami guide but it always failed. Any help would be appreciated.

Hmm, this is not the system you PM’d me about, so I guess I will be sending you a new PM in a sec
I don’ think BIOS menu unlock will help you on this Windows 7 venture, they are actively removing support, so you will need some kind of ACPI table mod and possibly other things too (of which, I can’t help with anything)
I can do the menu unlock for you though. Does this board have USB Flashback? Please link me to the stock BIOS download page

Do you have flash programmer?

No, I don’t have a flash programmer, but I heard of BIOS flashing tools like afuwinx64 and afudos, not sure if they’ll work. I’d like all options unlocked, but I can deal with only the ACPI and GPIO options unlocked, as someone said the GPIO was the problem with installing Windows 7. If you can help me, I’d really appreciate it as I always appreciate your work and help. Thanks.

Also, the BIOS download page: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/So…A-ASUS-2202.zip

@SamsungASUS - BIOS flashing tools are not what I meant, I was just asking if you have flash programmer or not (it’s hardware, USB Stick, CH341A is general cheap $3 example)
I can do full menu unlock, that’s no problem here Please show me images of the BIOS again, this time mainly only show All of Advanced at root, and all it’s submenus inside and their contents.
Additionally, same, ALL settings inside Ai Tweaker show me, as well as all inside “Boot”. Please make these images better quality than the last, and resize to 1000px wide if you can figure that out, or use some site to batch resize
PNG may have better output too, as well as smaller size, but this depends on input image. If you use JPEG, don’t pick lowest quality or the images may not be readable.

* Edit - Actually, on this board you can use F12 to screenshot to USB, then max compress and upload for me

I checked, and I cannot make GPIO option visible to you, it’s in hidden debug, but I can disable it for you (auto is default) Is that all you need on this setting?
GPIO Devices Support >> Auto (Default)

Rest of changes, I will make all visible in Advanced, Ai Tweak, Boot.

You need to dump your current BIOS for me using the method in “Annex” section at the bottom of post #1 here, and this method is how you will flash back the BIOS too so study the info about using this method
[Guide] How to flash a modded AMI UEFI BIOS

Alright, I actually found a way to resize the width in paint, and it also resized the height, and I didn’t have to destroy the quality, and it’s still under 5 MB with best compression. And yes, I’d like the GPIO setting disabled please. I also put the dumped ROM in a 2 part zip file so that it will not have it be too large to download as the BIOS is 16 MB and I have no other way then to upload it to Google Drive, and if you can’t download the ROM itself, try downloading the 2 zip files. Hope this helps. Link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1…D4c?usp=sharing

asus pictures.zip (4.84 MB)

What? That’s very confusing, especially after seeing three files there Thanks, good to hear about the images. Did you see my edit above? You could use F12 to screenshot to USB, then just zip, no need to resize or anything
Please put the dumped BIOS into a single zip, it does not need split, nor do I want the non-zipped file. Just zip it, you could have put all this (BIOS + images) into one single zip, since you’re uploading to google.

Sorry about the confusion. Yes, I saw your edit, but the only camera I have is the iPhone camera and I don’t think I could use F12 on the BIOS itself, maybe I could. I put the BIOS into a zip file, uploaded it, and got rid of all other files, but be forewarned that the zip is over 2-5 MB in size as it’s over 9 MB in size even. Hopefully it helps.

@SamsungASUS - Yes, F12 from BIOS creates screenshots to USB on modern motherboards, that’s why I edited that in there BIOS + Images in a zip is fine, please do.
I don’t care about 5-6MB, or even 9-10MB etc. The only thing I mentioned originally was about those other images, I didn’t want to download 100MB of images when there’s no need for that, 2-4MB per image is too large of resolution for what we’re doing, 100-200KB or so per image is more than plenty.
I am on limited internet yes, but total file size is not an issue to me as long as I am not wasting 100MB download for images I’m only going to look at for one second. If BIOS + Images is 10-15MB fine, package it up

* Edit - I have to run, will be back tomorrow

OK, I also got to be going to bed, so see you tomorrow.

Hi, do you have the BIOS ready or do you need more time? It’s totally cool if you need more time or need to attend to the other threads, no rush.

@SamsungASUS - If BIOS was done, it would be here already
Sorry, I’ve not had time to get on this yet, I will get done for you tonight

I just noticed, BIOS images missing ALL of Ai Tweaker AND BOOT - Please use F12 to screenshot to USB, scroll up/down as needed in Ai Tweaker and make multiple screenshots, so I can see all settings from top to bottom

You’re a genius. I tried the F12 method, it worked like a charm. Initially I thought the files would be too big, but compression also worked like a charm. Here are the photos.

Hey, sorry to disturb you, but can you also either make visible or disable Internal GOP as well if you can? I read on a forum site that said it was either the GPIO or the Internal GOP.

asus pictures 2.zip (3.34 MB)

@SamsungASUS - Sorry I did not get this done yet, I’m always so behind, can’t keep up with all the requests!
But, at least I didn’t do it yet, since you’re asking about some other stuff above anyway

Internal GOP is not a BIOS setting, this is a BIOS module used for booting in UEFI mode off of the integrated graphics. There is a informational Internal GOP Configuration BIOS page that can be made visible, but this only shows user video information, this does not have “settings”
So can’t be what they mean and would be pointless to make visible to you, but I can if you want. You’ll need to check what was actually and specifically discussed where you’re reading this, or maybe they didn’t really know what they’re talking about and were just guessing.
Or, maybe they just meant disable internal graphics? << If they meant this, you will be able to do with unlocked BIOS, before you hit install OS time, really you should be able to do this on a stock untouched BIOS but if not I can disable this from hidden debug too

It’s cool. Take as much time as you need. I guess you can forget the Internal GOP setting. I think I just need all options unlocked and GPIO disabled please.

Thanks! I will try my best to get done for you tonight, if I can’t wrap it up this afternoon.
Win7 compatibility is being forcibly removed from boards by Intel/AMD/Microsoft, so you may need much more than access to hidden BIOS stuff, but I’m no pro at the kinds of edits usually required for this kind of stuff (ACPI table edits etc)

OK, thanks! Yeah, I do know about Windows 7 compatibility being removed, and it’s a shame. Anyways, take as much time as you need.

@SamsungASUS - Here you go, flash it back using flashrom method you dumped with - https://ufile.io/p37dhqvx
GPIO disabled, but the rest of the stuff you mentioned all visible + everything else too now.
GOP if you need to “Disable/Not-Use” you need to Enable Legacy modes for graphics/video, enable CSM, disable secure boot, choose OS Type Other

*** WARNING *** - This BIOS is user specific! If you are not user SamsungASUS at Win-RAID.com forum, DO NOT USE THIS BIOS!!
If you do, and you are not SamsungASUS, then you will loose your serial, UUID, OG NVRAM, and possibly LAN MAC ID as well.
You have been warned!!!

Hi Lost_N_BIOS, just tested the modded BIOS today, flashing went well and a lot of options appeared, so the good news is the BIOS mod works. The bad news is Windows 7 keeps on blue screening no matter if I enable legacy acpi settings or disable the internal graphics card. I’m sorry to say, but I think it’s the Internal GOP that’s causing the blue screens as I suspected, but I can’t disable the settings in Internal GOP as all it says is grayed out Unknown Device and Unknown Driver. I was wrong and had misread the forum and remembered it was the Internal GOP that is the problem, again, sorry for the misunderstanding. So, I was wondering if you could disable the Internal GOP for me, or if you don’t want to do that, make an option visible to disable the Internal GOP. Again, sorry for the misunderstanding and inconvenience.

@SamsungASUS - Thanks for report back, and great to hear the BIOS works well (I spent hours doing that manually on this one!)
GOP area in the BIOS (Advanced >> GOP Submenu) as I mentioned is not a settings place, this only shows information about GOP/graphics devices sometimes, when it’s properly coded, which it’s usually not, so generally always hidden by manufacturers
I told you how to disable GOP, load everything in legacy mode, and then GOP cannot be loaded or used. I can remove the GOP vBIOS module from the BIOS, and your graphics card possibly to, if you want? But, I doubt this has anything to do with the issue though, but you can try and see

OP if you need to “Disable/Not-Use” you need to Enable Legacy modes for graphics/video, enable CSM, disable secure boot, choose OS Type Other << this most important, but also set the rest.
Then, once above is applied, only legacy vBIOS can be used from Internal/onboard graphics or from your PCIE graphics card

Are you using PCIE graphics card? If yes, what is it’s model? Dump it’s vBIOS with GPU-z, little arrow in a box under the brand logo in top right corner, then send to me.
Did you test Win7 install with settings as mentioned above, but with only onboard graphics, with no PCIE graphics card installed? If not, test this, and then if it fails, the issue has nothing to do with GOP as that would be disabled

* Edit - Here is same BIOS but with EFI AMD GOP Driver - 2.7.0.0.0_signed << Removed >> https://ufile.io/yc9kfo9n
Send me your vBIOS and I will make you a vBIOS that has GOP removed too, so it’s all Legacy only
Or just boot with old PCI graphics card, or onboard graphics only << With that, and this BIOS, now it’s not possible to boot UEFI mode due to GOP removed, so be sure you set everything to legacy or you wont see anything on screen

Lost_N_BIOS, very sorry to report back and hope I’m not stressing you out, but the Unknown Device and Unknown Driver grayed out options are still in the Internal GOP menu and Windows 7 still blue screens. I don’t use an external graphics card, I use the onboard graphics card as even with the external graphics card Windows 7 still blue screens. Maybe is there no way to disable Internal GOP without sending you a vbios dump?
------------------

BTW, if Internal GOP is removed completely, can I still install Windows 7 in UEFI/CSM mode or will I not be able to use UEFI at all even with CSM?

Sorry, but I tried to save vbios with GPU-Z, and it said BIOS reading not supported with my graphics card, which is the integrated Ryzen graphics. You still think it’s possible to remove GOP completely from the BIOS without the vbios dump as it doesn’t work on GPU-Z?
