Clevo P650_RE bios unlock

Hi. first time laptop bios modder here, stumbled on a gold mine here  . I’m struggling a bit to follow the other unlock guides on unlocking the advanced menu structure for my Bios. (nothing wrong with those guides, i’m just sketchy on how exactly to make sure i don’t brick my laptop, seeing as this is the first time I’ve modded a bios without using an app.

I’d like to unlock the extra features and options, and i’m sure there are modded bioses out there in the wild for my laptop. i just haven’t been able to find them.

would anyone be able to help me?
model is a Metabox(clevo) P650-RE

This is my stock bios file

Cheers. great site.

This may apply to you, but I’m not sure, since you have RE?
[OFFER] CLEVO P6xxSA modded BIOS NVME

But, that is just “updated” BIOS, not menu unlocked options etc.

I can’t use mega, can you please repackage that with your BIOS region dump from the below process, and upload to tinyupload.com or uploadfiles.io

Check BIOS main page and see if ME FW version is shown, if not then download HWINFO64
Then on the large window on left side, expand motherboard and find ME area, inside that get the ME Firmware version.
Once you have that, go to this thread and in the section “C.2” download the matching ME System Tools Package
(ie if ME FW version = 10.x get V10 package, if 9.0-9.1 get V9.1 package, if 9.5 or above get V9.5 package etc)
Intel Management Engine: Drivers, Firmware & System Tools

Once downloaded, inside you will find Flash Programming Tool folder, and inside that a Windows or Win/Win32 folder.
Select that Win folder, hold shift and press right click, choose open command window here (Not power shell).
At the command prompt type the following command and send me the created file to modify >> FPTw.exe -bios -d biosreg.bin

Right after you do that, try to write back the BIOS Region dump and see if you get any error >> FPTw.exe -bios -f biosreg.bin
If you do get error, show me image of the command entered and the error given
^^ This is important step, don’t forget ^^

If you are stuck on Win10 and cannot easily get command prompt, and method I mentioned above does not work for you, here is some links that should help
Or, copy all contents from the Flash Programming Tool \ DOS folder to the root of a USB Bootable disk and do the dump from DOS (FPT.exe -bios -d biosreg.bin)

Or here is simply registry edit that adds “Open command window here as Administrator” to the right click menu
Double-click to install, reboot after install may be required

Holy hell what a fast response. I’ll take a look at that other bios.
region dump as requested. it is in .bin format is that ok or do you need it zipped up?

https://ufile.io/a8fpu3p8

thankyou again.

I did get a GBE region does not exist when i reflashed the file. but it did succeed anyway.

.bin is fine, thanks. So, no error and flash successful on reflash of the BIOS region with FPT? If yes, great, nothing more you need to do and we can flash in mod BIOS just like that.
If you ever use this method later, only use your dump to mod/reflash, do not FPT flash stock BIOS or you will loose your board specifics (serial, UUID etc)
GbE error is normal, but it maybe should not have been mentioned, since we didn’t try to read or dump that. Did you leave out the -bios flag? It may be normal, and I just forget, but usually I thought you only see this if flashing entire BIOS and GbE is not present.

Anyway, so your goal is unlocked menus, correct? If yes, please provide me some images of your BIOS, you may be able to F12 screenshot to USB. If not, please set your camera to take small or low res images, I don’t need 4-6K images for this, 100-300kb per image is plenty, or resize before you send to me.
I need to see one image of each main page, and then scroll up/down on any pages that may have submenus off-screen too, so I can see all you see. If you want, you can show me 100% of the BIOS, all settings, all submenus, all contents inside each. If you do that then I can also get any hidden from you in currently visible menus.
Please 7zip or zip with max compression, thanks!

Ohh! Almost forgot, we need to check this, from MEINFO folder, please run this command (Admin CMD) and show me image (not text copy) of the bottom of the report >> MEINFOWIN.exe -verbose

Ok new region dump as i updated to the latest bios version from clevo. screenshots and region dump attached.
and yes unlocking the extra menu’s and overclock/cpu/ram tweaking options is my aim.

Cheers

@killisch - Thanks, please see my edit above at #4, in case you missing the bottom line

screenshots of the meinfo-verbose command included in the zip

Thanks! Measured/Verified boot not set at FPF, so we are good to go with mod BIOS
Please wait, I will work on this as time permits, and probably will have a few initial BIOS for you to test shortly, to check a few things first, before I do the full edit

* Edit @killisch - here, please test, flash each one, enter BIOS and load optimal then reboot back to BIOS after each >> FPTw.exe -bios -f filename.bin
https://ufile.io/tnt35ld3

Test in the following order, stop testing once chipset appears in BIOS and let me know which one by name that you see chipset first.

1. SetO
2. SetOU
3. SetOS
4. SetAMITO << May appear here, or one of below, but need to test above first just in case
5. SetAMITOU
6. SetAMITOS

This is ONLY to reveal chipset at the base level, inside contents may be empty, this is OK for now, only goal here is to get it visible first, then I’ll unlock the rest inside and everywhere else.
Also, once you do see it, give me new images of ALL contents inside, but only if populated, I don’t need to see if empty, just let me know if it’s empty

https://ufile.io/fch40jqi

photos of the menus attached, don’t think there were any empty menus

SetAMITO did the trick unlocked heaps of menu’s. much more than i expected.

good work either way!

Thanks! I see some stuff still hidden inside chipset, we’ll get that as we go So, this is odd BIOS, with a lot of options I can enable without actual BIOS mods, just enable the option instead of hack/unlock the menu, so this will be a strange one for me and may take a while to finalize.
I noticed some things are set to be visible to you, but only if you’ve loaded optimized defaults first, otherwise disabled. I picked the overclock menu as the next test item to check which method I could enable hidden from you settings in already visible menus, but then I see there is a switch on this to show you when enabled, but I don’t see it in your BIOS images.
Fail safe BIOS setting would hide this per the setting, but it looks like should be visible to you if optimized is loaded. Did you load optimal defaults from the exit page of your BIOS?
If not, do that now, save and reboot, and then tell me if you see overclock submenu in Advanced or inside advanced chipset control. If not, then I will just ignore these default enable/disable visible switches and carry on with normal edits I would do to unlock.

OK. so after loading optimized defaults, saving and restarting there were no extra menus visible, overclock or otherwise.

Thanks. Odd why that is! Maybe it’s set different in NVRAM than setup, i will have to check, looks like it should be visible to you, but maybe they hide anyway, after leaving enabled?
It’s OK, we’ll just carry on with normal make visible method and ignore the switches they have in there to make stuff visible.

@killisch - Looks like I lost this thread, ready to resume now?

Yep ready to resume when you are. i w will be upgrading the laptop soon to a new rtx3070 unit. but hopefully this will be helpful to others.

Dear, can give me unlocked bios for Aftershock P650RGRERA (version of Clevo P650 RE, I7 6700HQ + GTX970M 3GB)
