Dell Inspiron 5576 need modded bios

I currently bricked my bios on my dell inspiron 5576 by flashing a random unlocked bios with the same chipset and gpu thinking it would work on afudos (it didnt), so as im gonna have to buy a programmable bios flashing kit anyways does anyone have the LOST_N_BIOS modded bios for this laptop if not I also have a AFU rom that I copied off afudos before I bricked it if anyone would like to help me unlock it. I was able to successfully disable CPB with amibcp in the past but I couldn’t figure out how to unlock the whole advanced tab.

post your saved dump here and i’ll mod it for you. you don’t need flashing kit to unbrick it iirc, but you need it to flash modded BIOS. afu only writes nvram section, so need to remove CMOS battery to unbrick

When I fllashed I used /GAN in my AFU and after I bricked it I tried to remove CMOS and it still wouldnt work but I will try again

I attached the original .exe from dell and .rom file that I extracted before the brick in this zip
Thank you
Inspiron5576Bios.zip (7.6 MB)

fuck that. it worked for me once or twice and then also ended up bricked. don’t remember if needed CMOS reset only or reflashing entire BIOS

i had several modules modded there but i think only AMITSE is needed for setup unlock. here is the file, let me know if it works
OG_SetupUnlock.zip (3.6 MB)

Thank you for the rom I currently even after leaving the cmos and battery out of the laptop for around a half an hour still hasnt gotten past the black screen but im gonna get a flash kit but im not sure if I should I flash it with the ami flash rom or the exe or if it even matters tbh

you should flash it with software that comes with your kit. which one did you buy?

I havent decided on the kit im gonna buy im asking about if it would matter to flash the modded bios you sent me off one of these usb bios flashers or would i have to do some tinkering

look for ch341a newer version that has 1.8V/3.3V jumper
this chip should be flashed with 1.8V

Ended up getting a new motherboard and using flashrom to flash it
The bios works great with almost everything except pci express settings which just doesn’t open
Thank you so much @karmic_koala

good to hear that
PCI settings might be difficult to unhide, never really spent much time trying that. you can change them with setup_var_cv PCI_COMMON if needed
above 4G decode can be enabled in legacy mode, but the BIOS screen will fallback to low resolution and most of the settings can’t be changed so need to remove CMOS battery to reset.
also, don’t ever set integrated graphics to disabled because it will black screen and need CMOS reset as well.
everything else can be changed as you wish as far as i know

Haha that was one of the things that I first changed
and how do those shell commands “setup_var_cv” work i’ve never seen bios settings changeable in a shell unless the board was designed for it
and do you know if theres a way to change the memory timings, Im curious to see the improvement on such a cpu bottlenecked system

need bootable GRUB EFI module for the commands.
no way to change memory timings, only thing you can choose is memory speed in BIOS which makes almost no difference if you game on RX460 GPU
what makes you think CPU is bottlenecked? it performs quite fine once everything is configured properly
take unreleased UT4 game as an example (so not fully optimized) i can still play most of the maps at 30-40FPS with highest graphics settings and max amount of bots (24 players in total)
all the other reviewers don’t even attempt that, they just settle for low or mid quality setting, sometimes even at lower resolution like 720p then they claim the system they tried is “quite good” for gaming

Well its mostly new titles that have problems with this computer but do you also have audio stuttering problems, anything “new” will run at only 30fps leaving a good 20-30% gpu usage on the table, I personally like my smooth fps over the higher settings which is a big reason to why I wanted to mod it in the first place

audio stuttering in win7, but in w10 is mostly fine. just make sure the CPU doesn’t throttle, it can hold at least 3.5GHz under load on all cores. then the rest depends of how good the GPU sample is and how much can you overclock it.
maybe you can also check if your GPU is 896 or 1024 SP or if it is possible to unlock it to 1024SP

Thats so crazy, is it pretending to be a rx 560 but still using a 460 bios
I modded a 5600xt before and that had some nice improvements would I need a specific bios for the laptop

it might be 560, but if it is there is no improvement over 460. both still need same voltage to achieve certain clock. after failure i replaced it with 460 from desktop card and is more stable than original “560”

you can probably OC to 1200MHz core 1650-1700 memory but anything more than that requires hardware mod.
i don’t think there is specific vbios suitable, best to mod the one that is already with the board

one question: which driver is this and where did you download it from ? Adrenalin 24.9.1 ?

Im using the latest amd drivers from AMD and yeah its alot of trial and error to get it to work
Im using the integrated graphics driver from Amernimez Zone, and the Official latest one for the 460
The only issue is dx12 games and vulkan games where to get it to run on the gpu you just set it to powersaving on the graphics setting area in windows

Sometimes I have to use a specific registry key to get it to work which I saved off of the AIO parameter management and renamed the .rtz file to .reg, overclocking is something ive never gotten to work under this scenario but the support for new games is so nice

I just checked and amernimez uses a newer gpu driver for the chipset

yeah windows drivers are mess. i never managed to install both GPU separately, driver of one always overwrite driver of another…

at the moment i use amernime 23.4.1 flex-arch, which has some improvements for RX460

How were you able to even pull the vbios off the chip with amdvbflash, I keep getting an error to read the rom and I have installed the drivers and different versions
