[Discussion] UBU Tool related Questions/Reports/Suggestions

Both Option ROM modules belong to different development branches (v17.2 and v17.3). Intel works simultaneously on both of them.

@SoniX

Just wanted to report a successfull microcode update on AM4 plattform (MSI B450M PRO-VDH PLUS)!
Updated only the microcodes - no hickups. UEFI and OS both report NEW microcode 800820c

Thanks for UBU!

Thanks for your answer

@SoniX
is it normal that EFI IRSTe RAID for SATA is replaced by EFI Intel VROC for SATA after using UBU ?

Thanks so much for your great work

IRSTe old name -> VROC mew name. Rebrand.

Statement of confusion on guide/batch and mmtool:
For the Guide/Tool, from how UBU now RUNS at least, it seems that we should not be using the modified mmtool version anymore because UBU tool still says version not found for aptio 4 bios, this makes sense as the names its looking for is mmtool_a4 and mmtool_a5, maybe add mmtool_a5m or just remove it from the guide (I updated from older branch, caused me confusion as this byplay isnt talked about in the guide outside of rename, figured just rename modified version to mmrool_a5 and be done, I was incorrect)

What am I missing when it comes to the weirdness?

One last question before I forget it by sleeping: I know the Microcode is horribly OOD (2012) for the FX8350 I have in it, has anyone managed to update the microcode without causing other problems?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I cannot find the C(reate) and R(eplace) option for the CPU MicroCode module?

@bronxamigo :
The procedure description and the pictures, which I had inserted into the UBU Guide, are just examples and do not mean, that they are or should be identical for all UBU users.
Regarding the update of the CPU Microcode the recommended procedure and the shown options may be different and depend on the specific BIOS resp. the related mainboard and its CPU.

If you want to get support, please attach the BIOS (as *.ZIP or *.RAR archive) and tell us, which options you got from the UBU tool regarding the update of the CPU Microcode.

By the way: I have moved your post into this “UBU Discussion” thread, because the other UBU thread has been designed just for the Guide and for SoniX’s announcements of a new UBU version.

Thanks for great tool. This Gigabyte X570 UEFI contains new microcode which UBU v1.74.0.3 has highlighted to report.

gupsterg, you need new MC Extractor, in old small bug

I have a problem when the microcode patch for Intel 1155, when using ubu the process is complete. when processing bios flash was successful, and I turned on the motherboard it was bricked. but when I install sandybridge the motherboard can turn on.

the motherboard that I use is Foxconn P67a-s, and the website is gone. the bios on my motherboard still supports sandybridge

thank you

If your mod BIOS works with Sandy but does not boot with Ivy, this does not mean BIOS is a brick, this means board/BIOS/ME is not compatible with Ivy CPU.

I checked and your motherboard homepage says that board supports Ivy with a BIOS update, but yes as you mentioned their site is dead now.
Here is that BIOS you need - https://drivers.softpedia.com/get/BIOS/F…-C3CF1P01.shtml
Supports >> Intel® Ivybridge/Sandybridge processors, Socket LGA1155 Supports Intel® 22/32nm Hi-K CPU

If your Ivy is not booting after you flash that BIOS, please test CPU in another board, it may be faulty CPU

@Lost_N_BIOS i did download that bios too, but link is broken. so the lasti bios i have is for sandybridge.
my CPU is ivy,when i test to another board,its work fine.

so i need to patch microcode ivy to bios sany on my foxconn p67a-s

@hasandoel2 :
This is original BIOS. Is it correct version?
https://www.downloadsource.net/dm/32723/

This is modded BIOS. Only added microcodes for Ivy.
https://mega.nz/#F!3SxQhQya!FH7tOjFiT7PIwcwk0GFJCQ

Try it. All regions in original BIOS was unlocked.

@Michael_Code thank you sir,
i’ll try that bios.

@hasandoel2 :
later, I want change VBIOS, now only Sandy v2086, I want insert Sandy/Ivy v2171, but don`t find script file(snd_2086.bsf) for original Sandy v2086, only 2089. Working…

EDIT by Fernando: Unneeded quoted post replaced by directly addressing

@hasandoel2 - sorry, I didn’t realize link was broken, I assumed they always had good links or people reported it to them and they take it down.

So you confirmed your CPU is fine in another board? If yes, good, at least we know it works. I’m still trying to find a working link now, sorry

And there is also two other versions than that one too (A46F1020 and A46F1025), which may also have the Ivy Microcodes in it

Thanks @Michael_Code - BIOS should not need IVY microcodes added, IVY supported in C3CF1P01 + A46F1020 + A46F1025
Ohh, I see, the version you linked is A46F1016, very first so may not support Ivy even with added microcodes, mainly due to ME FW = v7 but also as you mentioned vBIOS (but that may be OK, just have to use PCI/PCIE instead possibly, but the ME FW 7 will = non-boot with Ivy)
However, only B3 board may support Ivy, even with microcodes in there, so if he has B2 board then it may never work with Ivy

I only find here, and it’s paid site, plus you have to be in Brazil or use super elite proxy

Also on vinafix too https://vinafix.com/threads/foxconn-p67a-s-bios.24857/ = paid site
and here paid site too https://thienbui.com/threads/foxconn-p67a-bios.24831/

@Lost_N_BIOS :
Yesssssssss, I understood you, about version ME and stepping chipset, Now, we need knowlidge about real chipset. Thank you.
