[Guide] CoffeeLake CPUs on Skylake and KabyLake mainboards

@yeumanu
Yes, this ME isn’t compatible. But it isn’t problem for Gigabyte, you can easy change it with FPT flashing software. Just need to correctly flash the bios.
Pinmap for isolation on Gigabyte and ASUS you can find here.
And yes, for use G5400 on Gigabyte you need to isolate ALL red and blue indicated pins.

@svarmod
Thank you verry much!
Now i just need to learn to create mod bios and flash bios with FPT flashing software, isn’t it?
But i cant find to download 2 tool below
3. VBios and BSF Package
4. AMI Aptio V UEFI MMTool v5.0.0.7 or more recent

Could you help me? Please!

@yeumanu
Just use Revlaay’s tool or CoffeeTime to modificate your bios in auto mode.
If you really want to waste your time: VBIOS and MMTool

@svarmod ^^
Thank you verry much!
I will try, and report result here, and also relaay’s thread :wink:

This is me again, sorry @svarmod
I don’t know how to use fpt flashing tool. I search in youtube this video flashing coffeelake modding bios used FPT software. Can i follow it?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdUSgtlwZZU

@yeumanu - first make backup of your BIOS with >> FPTw -d bios.bin
Then modify BIOS again, then flash back using >> FPTw -f bios.bin

If you do not make backup BIOS to modify, you will loose important system details (Serial, UUID, Lan MAC ID, etc)

@Lost_N_BIOS
Oh My Godd !!,
I didn’t make backup my Bios. It makes me lose warranty, isn’t it? Oh my god, i’m verry so sad :frowning:

Hi All!

Someone has modded bios for Gigabyte GA-Z170-D3H? I plan to install 8700K or non K :slight_smile:

@Spongyi
Use CoffeeTime for mod bios and take care about VRM cooling.

@svarmod @Lost_N_BIOS
Sorry for my question, I don’t remember back up my BIOS. So i will loose some system detail (Serial, UUID, Lan MAC ID …) I don’t understand what is this?

@yeumanu - no, you wont loose warranty, you still have invoice and serial # is on box if you have the box (Maybe on sticker on the board too, on side of 24 pin usually).
We can put back in BIOS. LAN MAC ID (Ethernet) can be fixed too, this is usually on a sticker near the LAN ports or on the metal LAN Block, or on bottom of Audio port block.

@Lost_N_BIOS
So, exactly what did i have? Can i restore them? Can i go to Service Center for help?

The info mentioned is usually on stickers where I said, and yes you can fix by putting back into BIOS and reflash. Give me your serial, and MAC ID from the stickers on the board, and give me the mod BIOS you used, I will put back into BIOS then you reflash again.
Service Center? You mean Gigabyte, if yes, no they wont help you fix a modified BIOS for this issue, you can ask but I doubt they will help

@Lost_N_BIOS
This is my Mac ID: 1C1B0D6E6F8B
and Serial: SN17100010717
My mod bios: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1kCd1_L…gGbFm6iULMypICw
Thank you so much!

@yeumanu - You’re welcome! Please run these two command and give me the info, then dump the currently used BIOS via >> FPTw -d bios.bin
This way I can see where now incorrect serial and UUID is placed in BIOS.
wmic csproduct get uuid
wmic baseboard get serialnumber

Today, I bought 9900k and tested it.
But It is not works. 0.5sec pow on and
No change…please help me.
Z170s sabertooth (no mark 1)

No it was my mistake.
Boot is ok, all is good.
Thanks for all.

@svarmod @Lost_N_bios thank you very much!
And my friend have a question: can he run i5, i7 3770 on mainboard sever bt1200, s1200…?
Could you answer for him?

Thanks Guys! 9900K works well.
also Overclock well in bios.

Congrats - any special tips / tricks to get i9-9900k to work on Asus Z170? Or just standard Coffeetime mod is enough?

Yes. Latest Coffeetime mod is enough to it works.
Surprisingly, You dont need XTU. Just try overclock in bios. Yet I didnt use My Rx480, I guess it will works well.
If I have any problems, I will report it here.
Use 2202 bios and mod it.
It is all.
