[Guide] Overclock BIOS mods for Chinese X99 MBs

Regarding the TPM, it seems to be the same pinout. However I notice two things here:

  • It is not clearly stated if this is 2.54 or 2.00mm pitch width. You are very likely going to need 2.54mm, to have an easy installation.
  • The modules I have used are long, but this one is flat. So my way of securing the TPM module underneath the motherboard may or may not work. Just pay attention to this, and plan ahead for an easy and reliable installation later on. Really depends completely on your circumstances. Personally I would look for a long module.

Regarding BIOS:

  • To make sure that every PCIe and M2 slot works correctly, you need to set IIO 0 exactly like in the original BIOS. For X99D4M4/Machinist X99-B9 this is: Auto ; x4x4x4x4 ; Auto
  • Generally speaking, it is always a good idea to have an external programmer on hand when attempting any modifications like this.
  • Newer flash chips have less tolerance for 5V than older ones. If you are only re-flashing once for a few minutes, it might be ok with 5V, but this is up to you. Personally I only used the specified 3.3V on XMC chips, never 5V. In my opinion, Miyconst most likely broke his flash chip with 5V in this video.
  • Instead of bothering with adapters, I bought a newer version of CH341A as shown by Adamant IT in this video. Then I can manually select four different voltage levels: 5.0 ; 3.3 ; 2.5 ; 1.8
