Just a follow-up to an earlier post:
- I did indeed buy a EN25QH128A flash chip on Taobao. The SPI ID on this flash chip was 1C7018, not 1C7118. See below picture
- Most importantly: This chip worked perfectly on my modded BIOS, I verified it on my ZX-99EV3. There was actually no need at all to modify the Descriptor Region
- The three new Huananzhi V6.0 motherboards also have a BIOS available for download. Looking at the “fparts.txt” file shown to the left in below picture, we see SPI ID 1C7018 as well
So my overall conclusion is simple: Although there are new flash chips being used for the Chinese X99 boards, we already have BIOS support for them. So it is unlikely that we will see the same compatibility problems as with for instance the XMC flash chips.
