1.28 or above or ASProgrammer here: https://github.com/nofeletru/UsbAsp-flash/releases/
thank you i will try
Itās from the Tomahawk but should be the same chip as the Unify-X. I canāt get a decent picture of it on the board with my phone but the numbers are almost the same.
Edit: And itās a MSI B550 board. I think I need a 1.8v adapter, right?
What BIOS programming software should I try, @MeatWar
And do I need to plug any PSU cables into the motherboard? If I do, my backup PC is 32 bit only so Iāll need 32 bit software as Iāll be using the cables from my good PC.
If I donāt, any software will work.
By his pdf it states: "Single Power Supply Operation
- 1.65 to 2.0 volt for read, erase, and program
operations"
So u must try it with no adicional pw as it may damage.
Any other issue is related to circuit motherboard to the spi.
I would de-solder the chip and programming it in a soldered pcb.

This software detects my chip, I mean my BIOS is on the supported list and I could find the BIOS selection in DEMO mode, Iām still at work but it might only work with their USB programmer, I need to test it when I get home.
he detected 3
You mean the software I linked?
no escuse me ,
Iām looking for a read a chip W25Q128JVSQ
no software supports it?
There there three
The newest BIOSās from B550 MSI have Level 3 write protection.
When I try to disable it, then read it, it shows FF, how do I disable the write protection?
Asprogrammer says Iām connected and flashed the chip without saying write protection might be enabled when I write all three registers to 0, then hit the write remove icon.
But after I flash when I read the chip it shows all FFs.
Am I doing this right, this version of Asprogrammer has an option for my chip and takes about six minutes to flash it.
Never mind, there is a broken wire on the SOIC clip.
New to this thread: is it safe to use the black/gold programmer to flash the DIP8 socketed chip of an Asus Z170 Deluxe? As I understood, itās better to check the 3.3 and 5V values of the programmer, right?
Suggested software?
@gpvecchi
The black/gold by default comes working with 3Vā¦ rare cases u need to move the jumper as it comes.
Heresās a guide original from Lost: https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Gā¦341A-programmer
Here is the SPI of ur bios, but as always a careful visual inspection of the model and the correct ID for voltage specs/pdf:
Flash chips in VSCC table:
EF4018 (Winbond W25Q128)
C84018 (GigaDevice GD25x128)
Urs should be the Winbond: https://www.winbond.com/hq/product/code-ā¦d=128Mb#Density
Ur task is much easier as this SPI can be removed and programmed directly in the programmer, u should be fine.
NO CAP files only Intel images extracted/moded.
As always dump/backup is a MUST before any actions (UUID, SN etcā¦)
CH341A Soft 1.29 up, if not mistaken.
And yes this the way to downgrade ur MEā¦hehehehe!!! Cheers.
Thanks, this is a macro of the SPI chip, can you please help me identifying it?
Itās 128 Mb for sure.
Oh my godā¦ this is not a task for usā¦ its a task for users and their HWā¦
With the help of a magnifier, take a good look my friend, its engraved.
Look at the example pictureā¦ if u plz.
URGENT HELP, PLEASE!
I have this issue, reading the chip worked, then I erased the chip, blank check says itās ok, but reading it shows some addresses not to FF.
Writing jumps from 51% to 75%. Verify fails.
Any hint please?
Should we guess also witch software ur usingā¦ ur an old timer here, u know how it works.
There as bunch of available versions out there, even ASprogrammer, FlashROM, NEOprogammerā¦
[Guide] Using CH341A-based programmer to flash SPI EEPROM
[GUIDE] The Beginners Guide to Using a CH341A SPI Programmer/Flasher (With Pictures!)
Yup, thanks, solved. I had to use1.31 version, all the others versions didnāt work.
New issue: my bios shows 0.0.0.0 as MEI firmware. I used the programmer to flash a completely stock bios (just added MAC, UDID and serial).
Corrupted ME FW engine imageā¦ did u followed Plutomaniac guide to clean it? Its the same procedure to a new (Downgrade) clean FW image in order to add it to the Intel Image in UEFItool.
FPT -greset if persists, u have to re-done it again.
EDIT: I see, u didnt use latest bios version CAP to downgrade its own ME FW image, u used an older bios version. In this case using SPI programmer, ull loose UUID, SN etcā¦unless u transfer data first (FD44).
USB BFB preserves the current data found in present bios system. So ur system now hangs but ME is OK now in bios?
2 weeks agro i programmed a R8Rangerā¦ with older bios, no problems at all, dont remember if i used ASProgrammerā¦ u have to try besides the CH341 1.31 or try 1.34/8.
I donāt know what happens, I had to flash several times, even using USB flashback to make the system boot. The image is correct on the chip, but system hangs for some reason. If Iām not wrong, as I used a clean image file from the manufacturer, there should no need to copy settings or reset data, as configured from manufacturer and flashed directly on chip with a programmer (data area is clean).
