What is the exact full model of this system? It does not show on that download page, so not downloading anything yet Once you let me know, then I will grab BIOS and see what can be done here.
Do you have flash programmer? If not, please test and see if you can dump and flash BIOS via the method shown at end of post #1 in the “Annex” area of this thread [Guide] How to flash a modded AMI UEFI BIOS
* Edit - Also, please don’t make multiple posts in a row, if you need to add more info, questions etc, please use edit button if no one has replied yet. Thanks
@Lost_N_BIOS Accurate model by Acer Nitro 5 an515-43-r7a3 Here bios from InsydeH20, I think it will not work, unfortunately there is no programmer. The goal is to change the allocated 2 GB for embedded video to 512 MB. Thanks. * edit - ok
Test method I mentioned, if that does not work, then you might need flash programmer. When you flash the BIOS on this, or in CPU-z Motherboard tab, do you see FH50P or FH50Q
Sorry, I can’t comment more now, it seems like Acer site is messed up right now, can’t choose OS Type, or download BIOS from the page you linked me to, aside from not showing model I tried two browsers. Once I can grab that BIOS, to see if it’s same I already have here, I can advise further You may be able to change settings via RU method without programmer, but I need stock BIOS first (From that page, that I download from there), and we need to know which BIOS from the exe your system uses
However, that guide shows you how to change something in “Setup” you wont be doing the change there, you will make change in “AMDSetup” GUID >> 3A997502-647A-4C82-998E-52EF9486A247
Go to offset 0x93 (93-96) (May be 0093), if default is now 2GB then you should see 0x93 set to either FF FF FF FF (Auto) or 00 08 00 00 00 (2GB) You want to set this (93-96) to 00 02 00 00 = 512MB
@Lost_N_BIOS I checked RU works, values are saved but all these 3 values you wrote have the value 03 I changed the value 0xd4 to 02 (look at the spoiler, I have such a value there, but nothing has changed, everything is also allocated 2 GB)
Show me that page, sounds like wrong area or wrong offset, or you do not have Secure Boot disabled. I never mentioned 0xD0??? You’re going to brick the BIOS, don’t make changes when you don’t know what exactly you’re changing!
I gave the correct change value above for 512MB, 02 is part of that yes, but it’s not at 0xD0 (nothing here is) and it’s a 32bit value taking four spaces that need to be changed (some may not need changed, if already 00)
Ohh!!! Sorry, you are 100% correct! I looked up at question ID instead of varoffset when I was typing out that info for you!! OMG, sorry!
All is correct that I mentioned, except for >> 93-96 >> Should have been D4-D7 Sorry about that, and I just told you to be careful
Go to offset 0xD4 (D4-D7) (May be 00D4), if default is now 2GB then you should see 0xD4-D7 set to either FF FF FF FF (Auto) or 00 08 00 00 00 (2GB) You want to set this (D4-D7) to 00 02 00 00 = 512MB
If you see 03’s as you mentioned, then it may not be correct varstore you are in, or secure boot enabled etc, show me image
The offset for 0xD4 is not the only one that this setting fills, it’s 4 bytes in total length as I mentioned 0xD4 - 0xD7 >> If >> FF FF FF FF (Auto) or 00 08 00 00 00 (2GB) >> Change to >> 00 02 00 00 = 512MB
Wow, if you send anymore images, please resize to 800-1000px wide, thanks If you get flash programmer, I can unlock menu for you, 2nd full advanced and power menu (plus anything hidden in default menus), but I can’t make CBS visible
Maybe it can be flashed via crisis mode, I’m not sure, have you flashed mod BIOS that way yet? If yes, let me know, then make change above first, then dump BIOS and I will edit that to unlock the menus, that way this change already in there (or I can do this edit too if you need)
I was flashing the original BIOS through the crisis of the mod I saw on the forum bios-mods, a bios mod that was stitched through the crisis of the mod, the model was E5-572G
Flashing original and mod via crisis not always same, but it may flash in that way. Do you want me to do general unlock on stock BIOS, then you flash, then make above change? If yes, and it flashes in OK, maybe still a few hidden settings, you’d have to show me 100% of the BIOS in images after that, so I could see what is visible and what is hidden, to then further unlock it all.
You’re welcome! If it wont flash, let me know, I will put back into original 9.38MB image, but then that will be invalid image due to checksum. That’s why I asked you if you already flashed mod BIOS via crisis method or not If you did already flash mod BIOS via crisis method, did you use 8MB image cut from that 9.38MB image, or did you edit the 9.38MB image directly and then flash it and it was flashed in for sure?
Also, I forgot to mention, you may need to rename it back to FH50Q.bin
