Hello, i have a problem with flashing my asus prime b550m-a mobo modded bios, i tried using different versions of afuwin, afudos and afuefi, tried flashrom, sadly nothing works.
one version of afuwin managed to dump my bios, but i can’t flash it because i’m getting error “secure flash rom verify fail” even when i try to flash clean dumped file, i would really rather not use a programmer to flash my bios if there is a option to do it through software.
@poweix
Welcome to the Win-Raid Forum!
You are not the first user of an ASUS mainboard, who has tried to get a modded AMI UEFI BIOS properly flashed. Please read the ASUS related part of >this< Guide and follow the advices carefully.
Good luck!
Wrong, the AMI tool on modern bioses do not perform a “full” dump, only part of bios region, not useful for a regular flash.
Expected behaviour, as you’re trying to flash a modified file and Asus as well the AMI provider are fighting to keep the end user as safe as possible against potential vulneralbilities.
Most likely you will need one… and almost sure that you’d be stuck in that “mod” flash, with a a board to recover and not even a full programmer dump backup made…
The correct accessory to use with the programmer is illustrated here in section " Using AsProgrammer of this guide
Follow the linked guide pointed by Fernando and you may get lucky… this board model doesnt have USB BFB function as one of the options, it may be only option left to use “Flashrom” on AMD platform
Hey, so i bought a ch341a programmer, but apparently my bios is like a WSON or something like that so i can’t use clip to flash it, i can’t solder it because i don’t know how to and i don’t have required equipment, i was reading through forum and i saw a thread about flashing bios through spi header in tpm or through that one adapter, can someone check my motherboard and tell me what are my options?
The clip you need for WSON package IC, is at this thread on section Recovery: Flashing the SPI Chip, a POGO pin needle type.
Not all motherboard will accept the TPM/SPI header interface for read/write operations, only a user with such mb model can confirm this, if he ever used it.
yeah i meant POGO pin i just forgot the name, i’ve read about it today so will it work for sure? also if its not dangerous and too expensive i might try to use tpm header to confirm wheter it works or not for this mobo
It should work as supposed…what else can i say to you…lol
Now the “part talking” of “expensive” im really not following you here… the header is already on the motherboard, you just need to purchase some “Dupont” cables pitch 2.0/2.5… and those are very cheap.
Dont ask me the header pins connections…search for it on the forum or web.
@modbin i know programmer output is a 3.3V, i heard that all amd bios chips are 1.8V but after searching for my bios chip it says that it is 3.3V so i’m really confused now
