Hi

I guess I learnt something “again” and Fernando is one of the good guys on the net, you know one when you search for something always pops up and when he does always has the highest of standards info. Thank you

I did not realize that their is firmware in my firmware

Should I have any problems going from my OLD firmware to Intel ME9 1.5MB FWUpdate v9.0.31.1487.

Should I down clock first? Asus Maximus Hero VI @4.7 stable for 1 year +. (reset to defaults?)

Sorry for not reading a messily 26 pages, summer and outside a lot. I will catch up.

Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

No, this should be safe (unless the power will be switched off while flashing).

If I were you, I would do it and redo the OC settings once having successfully rebooted.

Good luck!
Fernando

Thank you sir your quick reply it is much appreciated.

Best Regards

Hi, I am new to this forum

MY system :
R4BE 4930K, Bios 701

Before update the ME firmware, Meinfowin64 shows:
Host Read Access to ME : Enabled
Host Write Access to ME : Enabled

After updated ME firmware to 8.1.52.1496 with FWUpdLcl64, Meinfowin64 shows:
Host Read Access to ME : Disabled
Host Write Access to ME : Disabled

How to change back to enable?

Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

Since I don’t know the answer myself, I hope, that you will get an instruction from anyone else, who is more familiar with the Intel ME settings.

Regards
Fernando

It’s interesting to see that ordinary ME update changed descriptor lock settings for ME region, but this new setup is actually better. No need to change anything.
The answer for original question: you need to disable Intel descriptor lock either by using external SPI flasher or by performing a HDA chip pinmod during boot. Both methods are dangerous and needed only if ME region is corrupted and needs a complete reflash.

Does this affect future ME firmware update or bios update?

No, if this updates will be done by normal vendor’s tools.

Thanks

Caught up, a few questions to the ones that are in the know.

There appears to be not much on what versions are better as Rst(e) or many other driver/firmwares. We must assume latest is better for all?

The reason I even stubble on the firmware in bios was that 1505 bios from asus recommend an update to run the new 4th and it was windows based. I read this was 9.0.30.1482 ime firmware . I installed your package 9.0.31.1487. Would 30 be better, worse, same for my hero vi board? Change logs would be gr8 on OP. But I also have google just appears to have limited hits, still need to read CodeRush’s hard forum.

A brief idea of the exact differences in 9.0, 9.1, 9.5 would be helpful. I understand that some 87 boards are running 9.1 but have a hard time downgrading, What about 9.5?

Are 87 board 9.0 that’s it?

I feel the placebo that my baby is smoother and more in tune, feeling better inside now .

Thankz again

Regards

P.S. Is there a search button in threads?

No!
1. General pre-condition: The latest driver/firmware/OROM etc. has been designed for your specific system.
2. Even the latest suitable driver/firmware, OROM etc. is not always the best.

Generally it seems so, but some mainboard manufacturers obviously have opened the door to the Intel ME firmware v9.1 for some Z87 chipset boards.

No, the search field is valid for the complete Forum (which is good, because not all posts are within the best suitable thread or sub-Forum).

so asus releases 9.0.30.1482 for my board, would this be preferred to 9.0.31.1487. I will call it quits at 9.0 and buy a new board for future.

You cannot bubble through threads and point directly to post you are looking for, this is a bit of a handicap that must lead to addition posts/questions, no?

Regards

This is due to the Forum software, which has not been made by me. My administration console doesn’t allow any change regarding the search function.

Absolutely no problems, was just trying to understand GBE 1.3 and 1.5 and search was not that gr8, answered on the first page which was helpful not to have to read all again.

What would be really appreciated is your thoughts on

so asus releases 9.0.30.1482 for my board, would this be preferred to 9.0.31.1487?

Regards

No, because v9.0.31.1487 is newer and compatible with your mainboard.
ASUS does not always offer the newest stuff for their mainboards.
