@ morpheus67:
Welcome at Win-RAID Forum and thanks for the link to the brandnew Intel ME Firmware v8.1.50.1456!

After having corrected the flash.bat command for the 64bit architecture (the “64” was missing) I just have successfully updated the Intel ME Firmware of my ASUS Z77-V to v8.1.50.1456 by using your linked package.
Look here:

@ all:
AFAIK this Intel ME Firmware Update Set is only usable with Intel 6- or 7-Series Chipset mainboards.
Here is the download link to the same package, which has been linked by morpheus67, but with corrected flash.bat for 64bit Operating Systems:
>Intel ME Firmware v8.1.50.1456<

Good luck with the Firmware update!
Fernando

I wonder what is the MEI firmware good for. The original concept of remote management independant on OS seems to be dead long ago, and if someone uses it (in theory it’s awesome idea for large corporate environment), special boards (chipsets) are needed anyway. Is it actually used by anything?

The Firmware generally is the OS independent BIOS like "heart" of the related device Controller. So I assume, that the Intel device named "Management Engine" needs a Firmware.

It will be used by the "Management Engine" device.

Updated. Everything ran OK. MY is a P8Z68-V/GEN3 with a mod made by Garikfox with with RAID OROM 12.7.0.1936.

That’s fine.

Why don’t you do it yourself? Garikfox is doing nothing else than updating the Intel RAID ROM modules by using the modified ones, which I am offering within this Forum.

Because I am not yet comfortable to modify the orom by myself. But I am reading to do that.

That is a good idea. The modification of an AMI UEFI mainboard BIOS is very easy and you don’t need to bother Garikfox whenever ASUS releases a new BIOS for your mainboard or Intel provides a new Intel RAID ROM version.

Surely. I am trying to get the instructions you post in this portal. Once I also tried. But it needs yet a good reading about adding oroms into the bios.

Well, I do know what firmware is and how it works, I just fail to understand why is it being put on boards when noone uses it for anything.

What makes you so sure, that noone is using the Intel Management Engine?

@Fernando :
I have now updated all MEI pieces of software (driver, MEinfo Tool, and firmwares) and got stricly the same pic as you with my P8Z77-V Deluxe mboard under W7 x64 SP1 RAID 0 UEFI environment.

I have updated Intel Gbe firmware from V 1.3 to V 1.5 via FTK_0.9.1_Windows Tool.
This tool uses the Intel FTP tool. Pictures are:

So, all MEI stuff of this mboard is up to date and working well and stable.
Performance is also here (Anvil PRO score about 9500 - 9700).

EDIT by Fernando: Quoted part corrected

@ 100PIER:

Congratulations! At least you got everything up-to-date.

I am trying to flash the new Firmware but no luck…
I ran cmd(with admin rights) and it says error 8716 invalid usage.

I am using Win 8.1 RTM
8.1.40.1416 is currently installed

Any solutions ?

Try to create a bootable flash drive under DOS. Run the Dos program instead. Rufus 1.3.4 is a good option.

Can you tell me how to flash through DOS, i created my DOS USB, now what ?

@ CautionEL:
Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

Please tell us
1. the chipset or the name of your mainboard and
2. the OS you are running.

This Firmware version is only suitable for systems with an Intel 6- or 7-Series chipset. The Firmware update should be started by running the flash.bat of the subfolder, which suits the OS environment.
If you should run a 64bit Windows OS, you have to execute the flash.bat of the Win64 subfolder.

Regards
Fernando

x79 is not 7-series, no?

this is what this ME_INFO prog showed me after running it:

and this happened after runnning the flash.bat:

So no compatibility here with x79 …

Sincerely

IDDQD

No, the X79 chipset belongs to the C600 Chipset Series, which are 6-Series ones.

AFAIK you have to update the Firmware from v7 to v8 as first step. Maybe >this< thread will help you.

It HAS to help me … xD

Did you see the pictures? I wait for almost an hour now, but they don’t load completely. I try to refresh the site every here and then, but no luck. :frowning:

But I saw a picture with Intels FPT tool on this page. biggrin

So I was right, let’s play with the tool now, muhahaha.

Sincerely

IDDQD (who is wrecking his computer now, so please be patient)

EDIT: There is no "Abwrackprämie" for computers, no?
