Intel RST EFI RAID/VMD BIOS Modules

Nope, it’s definitely not in my BIOS file. Where did you download it from? How big is your file?

I downloaded the file from >this< ASUS Support page. The unzipped BIOS file named SABERTOOTH-Z77-ASUS-2104.CAP has a size of 8.194 KB.

You obviously have run the UBU tool with an already modded Sabertooth Z77 BIOS file.
The original BIOS contains the Intel RAID ROM v11.0.0.1339 and the EFI RAID "SataDriver" v11.5.0.1582.

Hi Fernando,

as I will get two new GTX 770 with full UEFI/GOP support I plan to permanently use an UEFI installed system. Could you please use the "universal" mod procedure for the sata driver modules so they can be used by anyone who wants to enjoy a clean UEFI setup combined with TRIM support?

Thanks in advance and best regards hanson

The "universal" TRIM mod procedure, which has been developed by CPL0, only works with Intel RAID ROM modules and will not work with EFI RAID SataDriver ones, because they have a totally different structure. So only CPL0 may be able to create such "universal" TRIM modded SataDriver.
By the way: Are you sure, that the latest RSTe SataDriver module v3.8.0.1029 natively does not support the TRIM in RAID0 feature for X79 chipset systems?

Hi Fernando,

thanks for your info. Maybe you’re right regarding the RSTe but I want to use RST because I feel a much longer boot up and even boot down time when using RSTe. As I can choose in BIOS between the two I prefer RST.

Regards hanson

If you can choose "RST" even if you are running the OS in UEFI/GPT mode, TRIM in RAID0 should work automatically, but in this case you need a second "SataDriver" module within the BIOS (1 for RSTe=DEV_2826, 1 for RST=DEV_2822 settings).

Yes I know, actually I do have 3! modules within my BIOS. One from RSTe 3.8 and 2 other RST (11.6 and 12.7). So this should be ok. I just didn’t know that they natively support TRIM, thought I need modded ones

Which Intel RAID ROM module verson and for which DeviceID (DEV_2826 or DEV_2822) did your Intel RAID Controller use as long as you are running the OS in LEGACY mode?

I use RAID ROM 12.7 Dev.2822, my BIOS is set to RST RAID mode.

Regards hanson

So I assume, that TRIM in RAID0 is working now.
Why do you think, that it may not work with a DEV_2822 RST SataDriver v12.7?

I inserted the universal modded 12.7 OROM for TRIM support into my BIOS. I thought when I switch to "ultra fast boot" in UEFI mode and the SATA driver module takes control of my array it also needs a TRIM modification. You offer TRIM modded driver modules for Z68 chipsets as well so my thinking was that the original SATA driver module does not support TRIM

Regards hanson

The original (not modified) Intel RAID ROM and EFI SataDriver modules v11 and higher natively do support TRIM in RAID0 for X79 RAID systems. So it wouldn’t have been necessary to insert the "Universally TRIM modded" OROM.

Update of the start post

Changelog:

  • added: Intel RST(e) EFI RAID “SataDriver” FFS module v12.9.0.2006
  • added: Especially modified Intel RST(e) EFI RAID “SataDriver” FFS module v12.9.0.2006 with TRIM in RAID0 support for Z68 chipsets

Thanks to Pacman for offering the original source file!

Hi Fernando,

SataDriver FFS module v12.9.0.2006 is
only GUID 91B4D9C1 ?

Please give me Z77(GUID 90C8D394) version…

@ ROCK-Y:
Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

Yes, that is the only uncompressed SataDriver.ffs file v12.9.0.2006 I got from Station-Drivers.

If you are using the UBU tool and choose the SataDriver v12.9, you will automaticly get the correct one.

Regards
Fernando

EDIT: Meanwhile I have added the download link to the SataDriver v12.9.0.2006 GUID 90C8D394 to the start post of this thread.

@Fernando
IRST 12.9.0.2006 and 13.0.0.2075

SataDriver91.ffs - GUID 91B4D9C1-141C-4824-8D02-3C298E36EB3F
SataDriver.efi - clean the original

@ SoniX:
Thank you very much for the files.
Here are some additional questions:
1. Which system will need/use the SataDriver.efi module?
2. Why is the SataDriver header of your ffs files different and smaller sized than the header of the ffs file, which had been linked by Pacman?

Hi Fernando,

Everything went well.
Thank you for your kindness.

For example "EFI Shell".

Just no DXE dependency section.

  • added: “Universally TRIM modified” Intel “SataDriver” v13.1.0.2030 GUID 91B4D9C1

These modded SataDriver modules are particularly designed for Z68 users, who want the TRIM in RAID0 feature with Win7 or Win8 running in UEFI mode.
Although these modded SataDriver modules have not yet been tested, I am pretty sure, that they will work, because the sort of modification has been done exactly the same way as with the Intel RAID ROM modules.

Any feedback is much appreciated!

EDIT: The “Universally TRIM modified” Intel SataDriver modules v12.7.0.1936 have been added at 03/20/2014.
