I have a Quanta T42s server which has a LGA3647 socket so i thought i could use my W3235 in it but as it turns out they have diffrent chipsets and dont work with each other.
Is there a possibility that i can mod the bios/microcode to add support for the cpu?
thank you in advance(I’m sorry for the typos English isn’t my first language)

Very poor info on the system, do you expect that users will do your work and loose their time researching tech info. No bios info, no exact model of T42S… how do pretend do flash the mod file, do you know how to recover an “expendable” if this the case of possible try outs and failures… do you have experience on this… do you have an IC programmer…etc etc etc…
Im sorry for the poor information I will try to give you all i can
Yes i have an IC/SPI programmer and do have a copy of the Bios
No I don’t have any experience
I think there is space in the Microcode section but not sure
If the goal is updated mcode revision, i do suggest to work on an Intel FPT bios_region only dump, using tools from CSE SPS 4.x an write it back.
I think on this system you have a very big chance of breaking it, dealing with the whole image programmed, your call.
New mcode can replace old version or added to volume.
Bios has Bootguard/AMI v2 protected
Im sorry but i’m afraid i don’t quite understand this part:“If the goal is updated mcode revision, i do suggest to work on an Intel FPT bios_region only dump, using tools from CSE SPS 4.x an write it back.”
and do you mean with breaking it i would have to flash the old bios or it would fry the hardware?
This was you initial request.
Regarding CPU microCode…its there but old revision. Possible procedures/path as explained in post. If no experience in this tools at all or how to recover, stay put, my advice.
This is not a simple regular desktop board, with a possibility of several ICs to be programmed and the simple programming of main IC bios could not be so simple to recover the system.
Is it possible to mod bios or does the system board design supports this CPU, dont know.
