yeah nothing odd
Here, maybe I need to enable overclocking to allow memory timing changes? Would be odd to allow memory speed change without it, but block timing changes, but best we check. Did above at #100 to back down to 2400?
http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?filā¦957796532927886
If still same, and 2800 after this, enter BIOS, load optimal/defaults on the exit page, save and reboot back to BIOS and make any disk/boot priority changes you need, then check and see if memory speed reset back or not
Then re-test these above again.
i tested what you said earlier in 100th post , the results are after dec file
after hex file
i flashed these oc enabled ones the result are
1. after dec
2. after hex
i dont know why after flashing hex one laptop felt slow also cpuz crashed once
Hmm, 2200 instead of 2400, odd to see there! Test these now, same but with QCLK odd enabled, since the above should have been 2400, still looks like timings are ignored.
http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?filā¦385183088691909
did what you said in post 105
result with dec
and with hex
to be honest you are too good , people at bios mods said that i needed to purchasde the prgrammer no way else and look at you, you are helping me in each and every step politely tooā¦ thanks a lot
So, back to 2400ish, wow, what is your Bclk? 133x9 should be right around 2400
Looks like we canāt control timings no matter what, unsure of the reason for that!? So, we should go back to some lesser edits with the exact speeds you want only
I will make you more files to do that probably tomorrow as I have to run shortly. Iāll make you 2666 and 2800
* Edit - Thank you!
Yes, programmer would be needed to flash in a BIOS mod, unlock menu etc, but just to change some settings can usually be done a few different ways without a BIOS mod required
ok no problem but what is bclk and is there no way we can go to lower timings?
lets aim for 2800mhz with cl17 or 18ā¦also did you try adjusting voltageā¦ i think that maybe it was causing problems(maybe)
---------------------------
i found this related to bclk in aida64ā¦is this what you wanted to know?
@Lost_N_BIOS
BCLK is what controls everything (Base clock, used to be called FSB Front Side Bus long ago), how do you not know what BCLK is?
Show me image of main tab of CPU-z, with whatever vars you had loaded in post #106, show two instances of CPU-z open side by side, one showing memory tab again and one showing main tab.
Something is not right, looks like BCLK is overclocked, thatās why I said that, because 133x9 should be 2400 exactly, or near that for the memory speed.
But itās showing at 2533, which is not near anything possible memory multiplier-wise (ie 100 or 133 x anything does not = 2533), thus Bclk must be more than 100, which would increase the memory 100/133 base point.
No, I never adjusted voltage, that has nothing to do with any of this, and generally does not apply, and you cannot check so pointless to change for now.
@Lost_N_BIOS is this ok?
sorry i didnt know anything about bclkā¦but now i did some research and now i know about it.
Bclk is at 100 only
Can we overclock it a bit too like to 101 or 102?
(Being greedy here) hehe
Hmm, looks normal, thanks! I guess that OC Enable option does something funky to the memory multiplier
Here is final 2666 (Stock timing = C19) and 2800 (Stock timings = C19) vars, since we cannot edit timings these are your only ideal options, but if 2666 is not stable for you then you can use that one from #106 that makes memory speed 2533 C18

@Lost_N_BIOS Hi dear! Thanks a lot, are you sure there is no way We can change the timings although i read somewhere that timings affect ryzen more and frequency affects intel more(is it correct?) if it is then i would like to try for more frequencyā¦please
edit- now when i flash 2800 final one i get 2700 only? why is this?
can this be due to the thaiphoon burner method (i linked you)? i tried it earlierā¦i flashed the oc profile but could not apply it due to no option in bios.
(can it be causing these problems?)
also noticing the trend when we set to 2962 it goes till 2800, when we set to 2800 it goes upto 2700, so if we set more than 2962 it may go over 2800 too?(my assumption)
also remember when you first made me by mistake a vars with frequency in 3000 range , it went only upto 2666, but when you made me 2962 vars, it went till 2800ā¦
can you tell the reason for this weird behaviour of my laptop?
thanks!
Sorry about the 2800, at least that 2700 has C18, I guess I should have left QCLK Odd Disabled, here - http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?filā¦363347978538122
If you want to pay $26 (last I looked) for Taiphoon burner paid version, AND your kits SPD is not write-lock protected, then yes, you we could change it all with Taiphoon buner, including timings and adding XMP profiles.
SPD Write Disable = TRUE in your BIOS, so itās blocked by BIOS right now, but most all DDR4 is also on-chip write protected. You can test with the free DDR4 version of Taiphoon burner if itās write protected or not, but that can also brick your memory SPD, so if you do then remove one stick so only one gets bricked
Here is stock vars to use, with SPD Write Disable = False, so you can test. The info for how to do that is on Taiphoon buner FAQ Page, let know if you need links. I suggest you download the very latest free version to test with too, donāt use anything linked from that guide as it may be old

@Lost_N_BIOS no i meant to say i followed that guide and used free version , iwas just worried that me using that way earlier could be causing these problemsā¦i dont want to buy itā¦maybe you misundestood me
EDIT-
after flashing the latest one, i get 2600, what is happening? also just so that you know i have 2 8gb modules. are the overclcock being applied to both or only one?
Please see my edits above. And, you cannot use free version for DDR4, only to check and see if write protection is on your memory chip itself or not, but to do that you need to first flash in the vars I added in above edit
Here is how you check after that - http://softnology.biz/tips_wptest.html
And here is latest download page - http://softnology.biz/files.html
Use 2926 one for 2800 then! Speeds are applied to both modules at once
@Lost_N_BIOS
brother,
i dont want to check, i simply said that i thought that this weird behaviour where 2962mhz leads to 2800 and so onā¦ might be due to me following thaiphoon burner method in the past, where the aouthor of that article created a utility himself that allowed to convert the file format of thaiphoon burner to .bin format, also that utility allowed to flash too. you can check that by reading the post i linked you (http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/ā¦laptops.805589/).
also please elxplain me this weird behaviour if you can where the laptop is not taking exact value of frequency.
one final request after we figure out this, is that since we cant change timings i would like to go for highest possible frequency oc. thanks.
Na, this odd stuff is just due to how we are editing BIOS settings, instead of you being able to see them in BIOS where it would be clearly visible which multiās where available to select with which other settings applied etc.
Nothing you did previously could have done anything to your memory, because SPD Write Disable =TRUE, so you could not even check if SPD was write protected yet, until you flash in vars I sent you that sets that False
I donāt need to check the guide about anything, you cannot write to DDR4 moduleās SPD with Free version, except for to do the checking.
His conversion tool is only helpful for those that donāt know how to use other tools or how to convert TB files to bin (you can save as bin to begin with, so kind pointless), but mainly that is all only useful on DDR3 modules, and for that there is SPDTool to write with which is always free.
You cannot overclock anything here, so nothing more we can do unless you need some other BIOS setting changed.
ok thanks a lot for the clarification, so we cant try go higher than 2800mhz? and also can you tell me what other bios settings can we change? like that help me get a performance boostā¦ thanks a lot again!
2800 is the limit, remember Iāve sent you two with higher and it always maxed out at 2800, probably CPU or chipset limit. What is the CPU and chipset?
Nothing much to boost anything, but if you want to look/search, here is every single possible BIOS setting in your BIOS. Scroll through, or search etc, anything you find here can be changed via the vars method
http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?filā¦576623681927158
@Lost_N_BIOS the cpu is i7 7700hq, the chipset
must be somewhere in this snipā¦
also when you sent me too high one , for the first time it maxed at 2666, thats why i am willing to try to go over 2800 please lets try small numbers but lets try ā¦
also i have installed xtu so please guide me what to do next on that too .
also i am looking the settings you sent me ill tell what i need.
edit - lets apply the hpet edit to 2962 one
thanks a lot
