UBU 1.37 with ME Analyzer v1.3.4…why RED warning ?
With ME Analyzer v1.3.0 is OK.
@ ex58:
There is a bug with v1.3.4 (which will be fixed soon) when it comes to UEFIFind.exe but it’s only for Extractor, not Ubu. I can run it just fine with UBU v1.37 and MEA v1.3.4:
Have you removed the UEFIFind.exe from UBU folder?
Can someone else test this as well? All you need is UBU v1.37 and any Skylake SPI image.
The problem is in the path to UEFIFind (one extra dot). I get the same, even when placing UEFIFind in MEA folder. To solve it, I have to put UEFIFind to Extractor’s folder parent, two levels up from MEA.exe tool.
HA-HA, ow… That’s funny.
I have a folder called UBU (old name, don’t want to change it) and inside I have many subfolders two of which are Extractor and UBU. UBU and Extractor folders do have UEFIFInd.exe inside but I also have UEFIFind.exe at the parent UBU folder. During my testing, I thought that MEA was using the UEFIFind.exe from the UBU/Extractor subfolders but it was always the one under the parent UBU folder. So as lordkag said, that’s two folders up MEA. Lovely…
The bug I was referring to is actually different. Previously the different directory (./) was triggered only when -adir argument was called which is fine for UBU and Extractor. But Extractor sometimes calls other arguments without -adir so in such a case it would report the error.
Anyway, both bugs will be fixed with v1.3.5 which will be released tomorrow with some new SKL firmware (1171 CON LP etc).
I don’t know if it was an error in previous Extractor test versions, but the current one always uses -adir when calling MEA. UBU does the same, so it might be easy to search in current folder by default, or search in parent folder when -adir. But due to how CMD and Python interact, I believe you have to search in current folder when using -adir, just as default case. Only for MEA_DB.txt there is a different case, where you have to search for MEA\MEA_DB.txt when using -adir.
Oh yes, you are right. I forgot for a moment that even when you call -msg you do need -adir so that the MEA_DB.txt is found, searched and then display any relevant “rare” messages. The current fixed version is set like this:
But I suppose, if -adir is always called by UBU and Extractor for the MEA_DB, the other three checks (ubu, extractor, messages) are not needed. I’ll revert back to -adir check only and now the double dot is fixed. I think it works that way (based on a quick UBU check) but tomorrow I will make sure with both UBU and Extractor before v1.3.5 is released.
But if we assume the same situation from MEA_DB.txt, then the combination .bat + .py will set the default folder as the one of .bat, not MEA. So having two cases is not useless, but it will give you the same bugged result, I think. Only the second case is needed for UEFIFind, no matter if -adir or not. But check with a separate clean folder for UBU and for Extractor, I won’t try to guess when it comes to CMD, too many burns.

@lordkag
The UEFIFind.exe command worked as expected without any additional change other than removing the double dot from the path. It seems that Popen uses the .py directory as the working one even when called by another process. However, that does not apply to Open file to read/write command.

@ plutomaniac:
Some weeks ago I had successfully updated the Intel ME Firmware for my ASRock Z97 Extreme6 mainboard to v9.1.32.1002.
Yesterday I flashed the brandnew BIOS v2.50. While trying to modify it by using UBU v1.42 I got a strange Intel ME Analyzer v1.3.11 result:
Just to make sure, whether the previous ME Firmware update was overwritten by the new BIOS, I ran the MEInfo tool. Here is the result:
What is the reason for these different results?
Hello, I happened to be online so I’ll reply quickly:
I’m certain you know this but just in case, MEA shows the ME firmware that is inside the loaded SPI image (not the system’s SPI chip). The latest BIOS from the OEM seems to have the older 9.1.25 inside. Your system is updated to the latest though via FWUpdate. If you want to check your own system’s ME firmware, run MEA -info command. As for Updated No, it’s not since the latest is 9.1.32 and not 9.1.25.
