@donkawamura :
You have posted the HardwareIDs of the NVMe "Disk Drive", but I need the HardwareIDs of the NVMe Controller, which is listed within the "Storage Controllers" section of the Device Manager.
The Disk Drive Management is controlled by Windows and uses an MS driver named disk.sys, which is part of the OS and cannot be replaced by any third party driver.
I feel a bit stupid, because you are absolutely right! Thanks a lot, installing the controller worked obviously. I haven’t used the pci-e storage for a while and totally forgot how I installed the drivers last time. Do you happen to know what the average read/write speeds should be?
Hello everybody,
we got a new Gigabyte R282-Z92 (rev. 100) server with the NVme Samsung PM1725b 1.6TB
(MZWLL1T6HAJQ-00005) Hard drives.
Unfortunately I cannot find a driver from Samsung. Can you help me out here?
At the moment the standard driver from Windows is used.
OS:
Windwos Server 2019 standard
Storage controller:
PCI\VEN_144D&DEV_A822&SUBSYS_A80B144D&REV_01
PCI\VEN_144D&DEV_A822&SUBSYS_A80B144D
PCI\VEN_144D&DEV_A822&CC_010802
PCI\VEN_144D&DEV_A822&CC_0108

Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum!
Please enter >this< Forum page and look into the spoiler of the chapter “M. Samsung NVMe Drivers”.
Both sorts of the listed mod+signed Samsung NVMe drivers will support the NVMe Controller of your NVMe SSD. Don’t forget to import the Win-RAID CA Certificate before you start the manual driver installation from within the Device Manager.
Good luck and Merry Christmas!
Dieter (alias Fernando).
Hello and thank you Fernando.
I tested the two mod + signed drivers for WIN10 64bit. Unfortunately, an error (Code 10) is displayed after the restart. Do the drivers also work with the OS Server 2019 64bit standard?
Thank you and Merry Christmas
@Dome1988 :
According to the *.INF file all 64bit Windows Operating Systems should be supported by the mod+signed generic Samsung NVMe drivers I am offering. It is obviously the driver itself (= *.SYS file), which doesn’t work with your OS.
Hopefully the attached specific variant of the mod+signed 64bit Samsung NVMe driver v2.0.8.1611 for Win8-10 x64, where I just now have added the missing HardwareIDs, will work with your system.
Good luck and don’t forget to give me your feedback!
specific 64bit Samsung NVMe driver v2.0.8.1611 for Win8-10 x64 mod+signed by Fernando.rar (62.5 KB)
Hello Fernando,
First of all, many thanks for your efforts.
Unfortunately this driver does not work either (Code 10)
Is it correct that an SM and no PM 1725b is displayed here?
it can be that there are problems with the RAID, because we have 5 hard drives in a RAID5 system (Windows Software Raid)
and until now I have only ever provided one with the new driver?
Thanks a lot
Greeting Dome
Yes, if you want to update the storage driver of an NVMe RAID array, you have to update the storage driver of the NVme Controller of all RAID members.
Try to do it, but don’t restart befor all 5 listed NVMe Controllers got the Samsung driver installed.
Good luck!
Okay, thanks I’ll try and get back to you again.
Is there a way to find out which controller belongs to which hard drive?
If all NVMe SSDs have the same Controller (with identical HardwareIDs), you cannot find out that, but if all of them are membersa of the same RAID array, it doesn’t matter.
Important note: Don’t forget to set a Restore Point before you are going to change the storage driver of a RAID array and/or system drive!
Thanks for the information. We were able to test the driver over christmas, unfortunately without success.
We were able to assign the controller to the NVMe using the UI number. This worked well too.
The system partition (C is not part of the RAIDS and should not be provided with the driver. Since no restore point can be set under the server 2019, only a complete image.
Thanks for your effort Fernando, it’s a shame that it still doesn’t work. We have also contacted the support of our supplier / seller.
If there is something new I will let you know.
Many thanks
Hi.
I have a Dell PM1725b connected to my win10 workstation. (U.2 drive to PCI-express 3.0 5 host adapter)
In the device management it comes up with this name: Dell Express Flash PM1725b 1.6 SFF. In the disk management it is listed, but its in Uninitialized state and i cannot partition it. I know that this NVMe is for server. Is there anyway to make ut work on my WIN10 workstation with the PCIe adapter?

@Fredrico71 : Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum!
What do you see within the section "Storage Controllers" of the Device Manager?
If the NVMe SSD is listed within the Disk Management, the OS has a usable NVMe driver for its NVMe Controller. What about formatting the SSD?
Good luck!

Hi Fernando,
Thank you for your input.
In the storage controllers of the device maanager i have 2:
Microsoft Storage Spaces Controller
Standard NVM Express Controller
I dont know of a way to format the drive, as this is not an option when the drive is uninitialized.
The second entry verifies, that the OS has detected the NVMe Controller of your Samsung NVMe SSD and uses the generic in-box MS NVMe driver.
You should be able to get the attached NVMe SSD initialized (provided, that you are working with full Admin rights and the SSD is still alive).
Hi
I have still not been able to get this drive to work in windows 10.
When I try to create a partition on the drive it comes with error: the device is not ready. Same issue in diskpart. I have not been able to format the drive.
Am I missing something? IS there anyway to format the drive or maybe do a new firmware when windows cant fully access it? bios settings?
After installing the drive the disk management is very slow. I can take 5min to get windows to list the drives on the PC.
The drive is new and it is ment dell server.
windows 10 pro 64bit.
NVME controller hardware IDs:
PCI\VEN_144D&DEV_A822&SUBSYS_1FF31028&REV_01
PCI\VEN_144D&DEV_A822&SUBSYS_1FF31028
PCI\VEN_144D&DEV_A822&CC_010802
PCI\VEN_144D&DEV_A822&CC_0108
I use a StarTech U.2 to PCIe Adapter for 2.5" U.2 NVMe
I have tried alot of the drives on this site.
This is the NVME driver i use atm: generic 64bit Samsung NVMe driver v2.0.8.1611 for Win10x64 mod+signed by Fernando
I imported the Certificate before i installed. The install tok about 5 min, but i did not get an error.
In the disk manager the drive is listed as 1490,42 GB unknown and uninitialized.
In the device manager the drive is listed with no errors: Dell Express Flash PM1725b 1.6TB SFF
In the device manager the NVME controller is listed with no errors: Community NVMe Storport Miniport
Uploaded a pic of the same type of drive that i have.
Hi Fernando,
Thank you for your reply.
As for the drive letter, i cant do anything like that to the drive in the disk management. The drive is listed as uninitialized and lets say i right click and selected properties for this drive. The disk management will start loading, but it will take forever and will not be able to show properties for the drive. As I cant initialize or create a partition on the drive I will not be able to give it a drive letter.
Maybe this is something super simple that I have missed or maybe the drive is faulted.
Im thinking that this is an SSDmade for a spesific DEll EMC server and that is why its not compatible with a normal windows 10 work station.
unfortunately none of the methods on that page work on my NVMe SSD. I get the same error: The device is not ready
