I have swapped my SATA SSD to NVMe SSD on my laptop using AOMEI software for cloning. The new SSD works just fine,my PC boots normally and I can shut down it normally. However, I cannot restart. It just hangs on the logo screen forever. Using power button to shut down and turn it on again lets the PC to boot again. I just hope it’s not another weird stupidity from the cloning process. I have repaired MBR - no effect (though “bootrec /FixBoot” has resulted in “Access denied”). Maybe this is an ME issue? My system:

Thats why clonning an old OS is not an advisable option…due to garbage and performance that carries, besides that what you have now is an old MBR/CSM OS booting on a new technology drive that should be used as PURE UEFI (Not AUTO or CSM) and GPT file system, thats what is required for NVMe performance.
HWinfo/Intel MEinfo will show ME status if the system loaded the driver, some bios also reports ME status (If NA in bios, then its corrupted), need repair, besides that nothing to do with NVMe issues.
Hi and thank you.
AHCI and UEFi is what I use.
Also, I don’t use MSI drivers but rather the newest ones. Kingston NVMe doesn’t seem to need special drivers, but I’ve sent a request to their support.
What should I look for in DISKPART report?
///
drivers version for AHCI ?? 17.x.x.x or what you using ??
and try HWINFO “for hw problems” https://www.hwinfo.com/ WAY BUS/PCH-AHCI and DRIVERS/SMART
event viewer
and **CMD ** powercfg /energy
win11 + msi old system ,.,send file here
if is possible find new build “update” all time use last win 11 builds.
I have no experience with win 11, I don’t know their problems
edit
Windows 11 Build 22000.856 - last official “stable”
also msi have OFFICIAL ,.ME fw up - 11.8.55 here or similar
ME fw version is now ?? from factory is 11.7-x-x
possitible send MSI up for ME FW
sometimes ME fw also creates this problems !
but updates is RISK or like all FLASH for old devices
edit
ME FW - device manager / system devices - MEI
or HWINFO - mobo / ME or here on forum exist special tools for this and good topic for correct update - 11.8.92 “now latest”
or basic ,…,if you have problem only for RESTART
power management - disable FAST BOOT
POWER OPTIONS / SYSTEM SETTING - similar TAB like close lid + others setup “power key setup”
disable - turn on fast boot
of course, any system clone is not ideal - clean system is best “no problems”
any REG setup for shutdown for old build will cause problem
recommended find in REG - shutdown delays - this repair to defaults !
try google
Disabling fastboot had no effect.
I use 16.8.4.1011 AHCI driver.
powercnfg found no problems
I have all latest WIn11 updates.
SMART reports no problems.
MSI has only one ME update - is it safe to use other version than they propose?
Ok, thanks, but Windows says I have the newest drivers possible for my system and refuses to install 17.11 version
Event viewer has some VSS errors, but they are related to Shadow Copy service and can be ignored, according to Microsoft.
I have 11.8.50.3425 ME version, which is vulnerable, according to Intel detection tool
this status is OK for old FW “but this is MSI oem -11.8.50” intel-sa-00086 detection tool ONLY
only unofficial way - 11.8.92 - green status for all latest fixes
//
and powercfg /energy ?? no warnings no errors ???
i don’t believe
edit “and basic CMD maintenance” for clone system
system image repair
CMD dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
