[OFFER] Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P Rev.1.0 BIOS F2g updated+NVMe support

Sorry @vagadesign - so I need to do mod for GA-970A-UD3P rev. 2.0 for @marcopolo7 then, correct?

@osiphos - no you cannot use any BIOS here, only one for your board. If your board is Rev 1.0 or 1.1 then your BIOS is not UEFI, so you can’t insert NVME Module. If you have Rev. 3.0 board you have UEFI BIOS, and mod is below
@jayce - same as mentioned above

Here @All-Of-You
970A-UD3P Rev. 2.x NVME Mod - http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fil…615991845137949
970A-DS3 Rev 3.0 NVME Mod - http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fil…865774309917566

Flash using EFIFlash from DOS or Qflash
Once done, you need to do a clean operating system install, follow all steps exactly as mentioned in step #4 of this guide - [Guide] How to get full NVMe support for all Systems with an AMI UEFI BIOS

@vagdesign Hey I just realized why your nvme drive is running at reduced speeds. Check your inbox.

Do tell, if it works @animeanie @vagdesign - in case others run into similar issues

Hello @animeanie and thanks for the message
You mentioned the x16 and x4 speeds of PCIe lanes. This isn’t the issue here. I’ve already placed it to the second GPU slot too.
The thing is that our motherboards have PCIe 2.0 technology and not 3.0.

Here is a list of differences borrowed from here: https://www.quora.com/What-is-difference…ess-3-0-and-2-0 and info provided by Mathew

- PCIE 3.0 supports a max speed of 8.0 GT/s (Giga Transfers per second) where as PCIE 2.0 supports a max speed of 5.0 GT/s
- The encoding used in PHY layer of PCIE 3.0 is 128B/130B encoding. But 8B/10B encoding is used in PCIE 2.0.
- PCIE 3.0 involves co-efficient based Dynamic Link Equalization phase during Link training process. But it is absent in PCIE 2.0.
- Compliance patterns are different for PCIE 3.0 and PCIE 2.0.
- PCIe 3.0 requires two tests for the Tx. The first is an electrical test that is similar to PCIe 2.0. Next is a preset test that verifies that the Tx de-emphasis and pre-shoot are within the limits for all Tx equalization settings or presets.
- There is an additional package loss test and couple for more Jitter tests(DDJ etc) for PCIE 3.0 compared to PCIE 2.0 during TX compliance testing.
- Receiver Jitter tolerance test is comparatively complicated for PCIE 3.0 compared to PCIE 2.0
- More Bandwidth Oscilloscopes are required for sampling PCIE 3.0 signals compared to PCIE 2.0.

So the drive I got performs around 60-70% of it’s optimal performance.
I hope this helps

EDIT: Here are the products I use on my build
Samsung MZ-V7E500BW 970 EVO https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B07CGGP…0?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Aqua Computer Kryom. 2 EVO PCIe 3.0 x4 Adapter for M.2 NGFF PCIe Solid state https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0742LW…0?ie=UTF8&psc=1

There you go @Lost_N_BIOS , I think we can’t do anything for this, cause it’s hardware limitation and not a BIOS tweak
Cheers and thanks again!

Ah ok. I wrongly assumed you placed it in the smaller PCIe x1 slot judging from the shape of your adapter (original message), hence the reduced speeds.
And yes, the secondary GPU slot gives us the max transfer speed we can manage, even though it still limits your particular nvme drive. However I got the budget Intel 660p whose speeds are like half that of the Samsung (<=1800) and I think that’s why I’m not seeing any bottlenecks

Thank you, Lost_N_BIOS, and the rest of the forum members here for information and links to the mod BIOS. Following the info here I was able to add an NVMe PCIe SSD, via a low cost adapter card bought at eBay, to my GA-970A-UD3P Rev. 2 motherboard/PC .

Please help me or tell me what I’m doing wrong. I have a Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P Rev.1 motherboard and SSD Silicon Power P34A80. I downloaded and upgraded the mod bios but the drive is not visible in the BIOS. I tried two bios from the first page, there is no result (.The drive works fine in the system. What am I I’m doing wrong, maybe my drive does not support this???Thanks

@adre-adre - follow this guide, at step #4 in the “this is what you should do” section
[Guide] How to get full NVMe support for all Systems with an AMI UEFI BIOS

Yes, everything worked out. I just didn’t do it right. Thank you for your work !!!

@adre-adre It’s tricky, and if you don’t know what to do at first it can mess with everyone, good to see you finally got it installed
And you’re welcome, thanks for reporting back

hello, I tried all the firmware bios and not one does not see this kit (samsung nvme 970 evo plus + Alphacool HDX-2) on 970A-UD3P Rev 1.0

Hello All, first time posting on this forum.

I also have a 970A-UD3P rev 1.0 motherboard with rev F1 of the BIOS.

I just bought a Samsung 860 Pro 2.5" 512GB drive (https://www.newegg.com/samsung-860-pro-s…N82E16820147684) and I was wondering what BIOS version do I need to use.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Dan

@maksimikys - you must install in a certain way, with certain BIOS settings, did you do that?
You need to do a clean operating system install, follow all steps exactly as mentioned in step #4 of the “This is what you should do” section of this guide - [Guide] How to get full NVMe support for all Systems with an AMI UEFI BIOS

@dfeweer @maksimikys - I looked through the thread, and for 970A-UD3P Rev 1.0, this (F2n) seems to be the latest BIOS with the mods done post #30 of this thread, page 2
[OFFER] Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P Rev. 1.0 BIOS F2g completely updated (incl. NVMe support) (2)

Thank you, having made a clean installation of the system through dancing with a bubble everything earned, but on another m/b

@maksimikys - You’re welcome. So, success then?

Post #49, is latest BIOS I updated for that board, it has NVME Mod + updated CPU microcodes - [OFFER] Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P rev2.x BIOS Mod NVME Added (4)

Put on root of FAT32 formatted USB, boot to BIOS, hit F8 to get into Qflash, then browse to the USB stick and find the file to update (USB needs to be plugged in before you boot to the BIOS)

Hi everyone!
There’s any chance that some of you have a GA-970A-UD3P Rev 2 modded BIOS? I’ve been searching for hours without finding it.

THANKS!

What bios software should I use for my motherboard Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P rev 2.1 nvme m. Thanks in advance.
