[OFFER] Var. ASUS Sabertooth X79 BIOSes (NVMe/Bifurc./uCode/OpROM)

@Orbserver - I “think” maybe you could possibly use three (x4x4x8)? But one of those guys would have to comment on that, not sure if anyone’s tested?

I’ve been considering an AMD jump recently too, due to all those cores offered much cheaper than Intel’s offerings lately!

Yes, thanks for all the fish

hey i got the same adapter i am having the same problem did you ever figure it out please help me its driving me crazy

I’m using the bifurcation mod on my P9X79 Deluxe board with Asus Hyper x16 v2 and two MP510 NVMe SSDs. My findings are more or less the same as what @JackSted already stated.
Both disks work with furthest from the CPU white PCIe 8x slot set at 4x4x bifurcation. However the SSD must be mounted on ports 1 and 2 on Hyper x16 board (boot disk on port 1).
Both disk also work with furthest from the CPU blue PCIe 16x slot set at 8x8x or 8x4x4x bifurcation when SSDs are mounted on ports 1 and 4 on Hyper x16. Other settings (4x4x4x4x or 4x4x8x) do not work (boot disk not found).

I also noticed a rather insignificant performance degradation using 8x slot at 4x4x. Sequential read speed (CrystalDiskMark v7 at 1MiB Q=8 T=1) dropped to 2200MB/s from 3400 MB/s on both disks.
However other sequential & random read speeds as well as write speeds were more or less the same as with single disk setups. The 16x slot did not have any performance issues at either 8x8x or 8x4x4x settings.

The bifurcated BIOS menu has some erratic behaviour. Whenever bifurcation settings are altered duplicate port link speed settings appear. E.g. if 4x4x4x4x is selected on port 3 duplicate port link speed setting row appear for 3a, 3b, 3c, 3d (altogether 8 rows instead of 4).

I also have 2 other Asus X79 boards (Rampage 4 Extreme and Rampage 4 Gene). What is the procedure to add bifurcation support for these boards? They are already running NVMe support & latest uCodes.

Hi guys, Please if im directive my self incorrectly ido to my ignorance, its the 1st time i have joined a forum. i have a friend that has a system like mine i7-3970X 64GB RAm, Sabertooth X79 MB, nVidea Geforece GTX 780, i hav 2 satas ssds (damsung 840 1TB , Intel ssd 465 GB), 2x WD Green 3TB. I was hoping to move all this drives to another computer as my friend in south america told me he got an asus asus hyper m.2 x16 card with 4x ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro NVMe sdd 2 TB (to fit in the card). I have the 780 video card on the first PCIe x 3.0 16x(slot 1) and on the 2nd PCIe 3.0 16x (slot 4), the last slot 6 is PCIe 3.0 16x(but is only 8x- manufucturing). I hope this details are sufficient and ok if not i can share what ever details you need.

What i did so far was:
1. download "SABERX79 (4801 bifurcation)"
2. format pen drive with fat32
3. put “SABERX79 (4801 bifurcation)” on root directory
4. put it in back usb socket with "white"marking and pressed the little button en hold it. - is flashed blue then did speed up and when it turned off i took pen drive out.
5. unplug pc and inserted PCIe adapter card with 4 ssds
6. booted cmos: showed: 1. they uefi setting on the samsung ssd for windows 10 boot was not there any more. went into boot and put cms setting as instructed. also show the nvme as 'pata ss:'

windows 10 detects only 1 of the ssd but not the other, i took 1 out and the same. the idea was to have it all as a raid 0.

Im at my wits end, have spent close to 22 1/2 hours on this since i got the parts. maybe its a little stuped thing im doing, i have read that many other have got this up and running.
im thinking of unplugging all dirves and boot from windows 10 dvd and format the ssd like but i can only get 1 to be seen in windows.
n.b. i saw a video on youtube about 2 weeks ago that (cant find it now) that they went into system manager and added other drivers for each of the ssds and i think for the nvme driver under storage but thats hard to remember.
IF im not being a serious pain, please could do with help. I think i have read and re read x3 all the posts here and im still wondering if I am the doing something wrong.
Again if i places this post incorrectly plese do forgive me.
Thank you

Hi guys I think i have found what might be the problem with my system. if i put the "asus hyper m.2 x16 pcie 3.0 x4 expansion card" with the 4x "adata xpg sx8200 pro m.2 nvme ssd 2tb" in the 1st physical PCIe x16 slot, the bios has it as 8x (i get to seed 2 of the ssds), if put it in the 2nd PCIe 16x slot it showes 1, and the last PCIe slot is physical 16x but has only got pins for 8x. i wonder if for some reason i could get the bios done with reversed slots PCIe 1st and last. i might be able to get all four ssds. or is there another bios version for the asus sabertooth x79 that does that. again i hope i havent placed this post in the wrong section.
Thankyou

In my search with all he bios created here, i had a gr8 moment where i found this particular one that when i placed the asus huper card on the pcie slot closest to cpu it recognised 2x of the adata sx8200 pro on positions 1&2 in the card. something happened and i reloaded a bios but never again found hat one again. all others since only show just 1 of the sx8200 pro in the card in what ever slot i put it in. I was wondering if some one had managed to get all the 4x m.2 ssds in the asus hyperm.2 x16 card to be seen. Or if any one has come across that particular bios (not sure if it was for the sabertooth x79 either, as this is probably my 3rd day here and kind of a little conufsed with all i read so far). Please if you could let me know by some miracle or coincidence, as i havent found anything to make all ssds visible.).
Than kyou

Hi guys, since i came across this forum, i have not been able to put it down, im finding my self facinated by what you guys have done with the Bioses. Started to get bitten very hard with the bug to learn all i can from what u guys do. I’m still dealing with my sabertooth x79 mainboard and the asus hyper m.2 x16 pcie expansion card i have with the 4x 2T adata xpg sx8200 pro 2tb. When I bought it the seller said it would take it. I have found out that in 99% of the cases it only sees the top slot #1 in the card. Only on one occasion a few days ago, i was going through all the bioses mods i could download from u guys and running them. thinking that 1 of them was the one that would show all the m.2s, i kind of have learned a hell of a lot from all the gurus here and the postings.

Only on 1 occasion which i cannot for some reason recreat, 1 particular bios showed 2x m.2 on the windows formating screen for a clean install of windows 10, cant remember if it was eufi or legacy as i learned about that much later.
i was just going through 1 bios after another in search of the 1 beleiving would show all m.2. Im wondering if its not showing more then 1 for a particular reason, bios size, architecture, is it hard coded, not enough speed and passage on the pcie slot to do more and left at 1 for best work scenario thinking. the adapter card was in the x16 slot closest to the cpu at the time. i wonder is it cause things are shared? a setting on the bios. so what im doing is gpt formated all the m.2s with name 1…4. puting them in each card slot see if it sees them, then changing from closet slot to cpu (i think its called SLot 1, Iou1 - PCIe port its 4x4/8x one even thought manual says that a 16x, im thinking it should be like: 6X/8xx8X/8X4X4X/4x4x8x/4x4x4x4x om yjr Bigurcation but i have no idea beyond this – YET. I get it confused a little as Bifurcation says IOH PCIe port above. I have learnt that the las 16x 3.0 port is a ful size slot but its only wired 1/2 way.

The other thing i cant remember if it was some other X79 family type of bios say from p79xp. back then on monday/tuesday of this past week had not even the concept of what u guys call a bricked system, again learned itall this week, i know i did a lot of things with massive ignorance and thanks to the good LORD above nothing happened to the pc, (i have a terrebly soft spot for the sabertooth x79 and the i7-3970X i got in it with the 64GB of ram- see this was my dream and living it.

I dont even know if there might be limitations with the adapter card of its damaged, as it was almost $100 and can quite buy another to compare.
So please if anyone out there reads my post (assuming i am doing this communicating correctl7- i guess i should go over all the post here etc, but this im doing and learning is giving me such an euphoria thas nothing short of addictive (i dont think i slep more then 2 hours per day, plus working in between, its like a drug- hell im just loving it).

All this here is kind of a bit much to process and im kind of picking with things that stick with me, the more i read the more i get.

IF any one out there can let me know anything, it would be so very much apreciated.
Thankyou

hi I’m new here, i was reading that post but #147 led to a modded 4701 while i was looking for a 4801, so… does anyone have a modded bios based on 4801, with all the new ucode updated and nvme support? i checked post #217 but looking at those bios with UBU they seems to be based upon 4701 not 4801.

@fastedu - only three is possible, some bug with ALL Asus X79, you need to change the correct IOU setting in the PCH I/O area of the BIOS to allow 8x4x4x o4 4x4x8x etc like you were mentioning - Any BIOS that says “Bifurcation” will have these menus, such as the one I will link below for NightRanger
Here’s more info on how to find which slot is which setting with HWINFO64 and any other card for testing (not your NVME card at first, to keep things simple) - [GUIDE] Adding Bifurcation Support to ASUS X79 UEFI BIOS

@NightRanger - see post #249 - [OFFER] ASUS Sabertooth X79 UEFI (NVMe support w/optional Bifurcation + uCode + OpROM) (17)

ok thanks a lot for your reply, i didn’t get it cause i read "here is 4801 Updated + Bifurcation" while i was looking for NVMe support and no bifurcation, but if it has NVMe i can try that (with or without bifurcation)

@Master_Colo - English please and thanks

To boot from NVME Mod BIOS, you must do all steps exactly as you see here in step #4 of the “This is what you should do” section
[Guide] How to get full NVMe support for all Systems with an AMI UEFI BIOS

ok thanks a lot for your reply, i didn’t get it cause i read "here is 4801 Updated + Bifurcation" while i was looking for NVMe support and no bifurcation, but if it has NVMe i can try that (with or without bifurcation)

4801 with NVMe and other updates and no Bifurcation can be downloaded in first POST (file name : "4801 no Bifurcation").

Hello
I have the asus p9x79 pro bios 4801 with bootable nvme mod
Is there a way to add bifurcation support? I tried the tutorial but I’m having issues with finding the right hexa codes to locate what I even need to change
I recently bought the asus hyper m.2 x16 v2 card so I can have multiple ssds but I’m having issues.
Do I have any luck with adding bifurcation mod?

This is pretty much my dilema now my friend, I’ve got Sabertooth x79, i7-3970x clocked to 4600mhz, 64GB Geil Ram and about to buy either the ASUS HYPER M.2 X16 CARD or the ASRock Ultra Quad M.2 Card, however, seems people having problems. I want at least 2 M.2 cards, but ultimately probably 4 at some point, hence the use of these cards so, I’ll probably hit the same problem as yourself! What BIOS file did you use mate?

ORIGINAL POST!
Hi There. Wow, alot of work done here, and read quite a bit, so got a couple of questions before I do this myself. Well done on the work though fellas and also the support, you should seriously give a pat on the back allowing us oldies to get in on the act…

1). I’m running a double RAID0 array using the onboard Intel RAID0 controller; 2xSamsung Evo 840 Pro in RAID0 SATA3 6GB/s and 2xIntel W240A’s in RAID0 SATA3 3GB/s. QUESTION. By using the 4701 bifurcation BIOS, will I damage or disable these arrays or will they still be enabled?
2). I’ll be installing a ASUS HYPER M.2 X16 CARD with minimum 2x Corsair Force Series Gen.4 PCIe MP600 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD. In theory I should be able to run these no problem once I’ve followed the instructions, so once I’ve set it to 4x4x4x4 in BIOS, each lane gets approx 4GB/S of bandwidth is that right?
3). Assuming 1 and 2 all go fine, there’s no reason why I can’t clone my current C: onto one of the new M.2 SSD’s and use as a bootable drive is there say using AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional Edition 8.7?

Is there anything else I need to be worried about? I’ll be buying these bits in a couple of weeks, however wankted to do the BIOS change first, make sure everything is working as expected etc and make sure it’s all stable for a week or two before I go spending coin.

Also, I’m running an i7-3970X 6 core overclocked to 4600mhz, incase this matters, I assume it’s supported as it’s working fine now and nothing in the BIOS should have changed in this new one?

Thanks in advance guys.
Mark

Right, well I did the update, all fine, however, no matter how I reset the RAID0 array up it would not deftect that it existed… so, something that we do enabling the PCI buses disables the RAID0, I had to go back to the original 4701 and thankfully my RAID0 array stayed in tact. Looks like my dreams of booting off an NVMe drive are now squashed unless I remove RAID0 from my system and that would be a massive shame. However, I think wha I could do is, use a standard IDE drive, clone the RAID array to the IDE drive… THEN update BIOS again, forget about HARDWARE RAID, clone ther IDE to the new NMVe drive as bootable instead… this may work!!!

EDIT:Ignore me, it works, I’d weirdly missed one setting off the selection and hey presto works, so RAID0 is back again. So, my new card comes on Monday and will clone windows onto it and hopefully should then boot, will report back with speeds. Ended up going with the following due to people having problems with the ASUS quad card, I decied to go balls deep and just ordered:

* ASRock Ultra Quad M.2 Card
* Sabrent 2TB Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 Internal SSD

Even though I know PCIE-3.0 will limit the speeds of 3400 MB/s (read) and 2750 MB/s (write) instead of 5000 MB/s (read) and 4400 MB/s (write), I’m future proofing for when I move rigs to more modern equipment. However, can I thank you guys for the mods and hopefully I’ll get more than one of these cards working together! Cheers fellas.

Beastly speed!

Hi, guys.
Is there a way to make bifurc showing all four subslots? No matter how I set and which slot I use my ASUS Hyper m2. card shows only 2a,2c or 3a,3c slots in windows. No 2b/d or 3b/d at all. However in UEFI I see all of them, even with some duplications. There are some other issues as crash after having option use over 4g region or others but the main pain is not being able to use all my 3 NVMe drives over this ASUS card. I can change their location but still no matter wher I put themIt sees 2 drives and always as 2a/c or 3a/c 8,4,4 or 4,4,4,4 works the same way and gives the same results - only 2 or 3 a/c - it never gives b+d at all. I used UEFI’s 4701 and 4801 of your as well with the same (pretty much) results. Thanks
Second fig is with bifurc 4801 and fig 3 shows those duplication I mentioned.
Thanks
Ps. The MOBO is an Sabertooth x79

Like @Lost_N_BIOS mentioned.
X79 ASUS stuff has issues with two of the four bifurcation ports on ASUS M.2 x16 card.
You can only use two of the four NVMe drives on it.

Is this ASUS thing only or all producers of x79 MOBOs are affected by this issue?
Thx
