[Outdated] USB 3.0/3.1 Drivers (original and modded)

Hi Fernando.

I’ve performed a sigcheck -d for all .cat files in the win-raid USB 3.x driver set as of 2015-11-19 in order to find out which OS(es) are the drivers aimed for. Here is the summary, an spoiler follows with details:

ASMedia: Windows 10 (both latest 1.16.29.1 and previous 1.16.28.1)
Etron: Windows XP, Vista, 8.1 (I also confirm 7. Hence 8 should be supported as well)
Fresco: Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10
Intel: Windows 7 (both USB 3.0 and 3.1)
Renesas: Windows Vista, 7 (both G1 and G2)
TI: Windows XP, Vista, 7 (controller and hub, filters are Windows 8, 8.1 only)
VIA: Windows 8.1

EDIT: The ASMedia 1.16.28.1 package at Station-Drivers contains the ones currently offered here (Windows 10), but also includes a folder for Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1. .sys files in folders are different.

@ sunbe:

Thanks for the video, which shows how you tried to get the Intel 3.0 Hub driver installed.
This is what I recommend to do:

  1. Make sure, that the listed “Unknown Device” is really the Intel USB 3.0 Hub Device > Right click onto it > “Properties” > “Details” > “Property” > “Details”. It should look like this:

Intel USB 3.0 Root Hub HardwareIDs.png

  2. Provided, that the "Unknown Device" is the Intel USB 3.0 Root Hub Device and you had successfully imported the Win-RAID CA Certificate, the driver installation for the "Unknown Device" should work rather easy:
Right click onto the "Unknown Device" > "Update Driver Software" > "Browse my Computer..." > "Browse" > navigate to the folder named "Hub Driver - as second" > "OK" < "Next".
Now the suitable driver should be automaticly installed.

You are right, but the question is: Who does it?
Since I don’t use USB connected storage devices very often, I am not really interested in USB performance comparison tests. Furthermore I don’t have the time to do everything myself, which is desired by the Forum members.

Following the previous conversation I did a little test on my windows 10 machine.

andthe results are not encouraging for the intel drivers…

Hi Fernando ,

I came to this forum because I’am searching already few months for a fix of my usb 3.0

I have an Asus G751 Laptop and I have problems whit the usb’s since I have bought it. The thing is that when I start copying some files to an external HDD, the operation hangs after less or more half of the job is done . I have followed your tut to install this drivers but I still get the same hangs . I hope you can help me to resolve this problem .

Here are some screenshots of my device manager .

My OS is Windows 10 PRo x 64

I hope you can help me to fix this hangs .

Regards

Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

I doubt, that this issue is USB driver related. So I will possibly not able to help you solving your problem.
What happens, when you change the USB port or connect the USB port to another external device?
By the way: Why is the "Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller" using an unsigned driver, whereas the Properties of the "Intel(R) USB 3.0 Root Hub" shows the Win-RAID CA signature?

Regards
Dieter (alias Fernando)

No idea why is using unsigned driver. How to make it show Win-RAID CA ?? Havent tested with another drive but with usb stick is just working fine.

Edit :
Here on the next windows it shows Win-RAID CA , is that ok ?

EDIT by Fernando: Unneeded parts of the fully quoted text removed (to save space)

Yes, it is ok now.

So what can be the cause of that disconnects ?

I suspect either a hardware or a BIOS issue.

Okay , thank you for the help … I’ll use my warranty

Would anyone have Windows 10 drivers for Intel USB 3.0 Intel 7-series chipsets or tips on how I could install the Windows 7 driver on Windows 10? My motherboard is Asus Sabertooth Z77.

This is the newest driver I could find but it doesn’t install on Windows 10 even when I run the installer in Windows 7 compatibility mode:

@ FinnishPenguin:
Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

Yes, the mod+signed Intel USB 3.0 drivers v4.0.2.42, which you can find within the start post, do support Win10 and Intel 7-Series Chipset systems.
The other (default) option is to use the Win10 in-box MS USB 3.0 drivers.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Dieter

Hi Fernando,
I have a lenovo y570 notebook with intel 6 series c200 chipset and i7 2670qm processor. All its functions were working pretty well with win7, however USB 3.0 issues has appeared after I replaced Win7 x64 with Win10 x64 (clean installed). My laptop has 2 usb 3.0 ports and currently none of them works in anyway, they have power but do not response. There nothing related to usb 3.0 drivers in the device manager. Win10 does not install drivers after restart or update or anything. I cant even try default windows drivers. Is there a suitable usb 3.0 driver that I can benefit to solve my problem, and if so how can I obtain it?

@ thunderclap:
Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

Now to your problem:
You can only install a driver for a device, which is
a) physically attached to the system and
b) detected by the Operating System.
As long as the Device Manager of your OS doesn’t show any USB 3.0 Device (not even as “Unknown Device”), it is impossible to get any USB 3.0 driver running.
Please check the BIOS, if the USB 3.0 Controller has been disabled.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Dieter (alias Fernando)

Many thanks! Any possibility of modded ones, please?

Maybe I will present them after Christmas.
