[Outdated] USB 3.0/3.1 Drivers (original and modded)

Yup I realized that… Didn’t realize I was so quick to reading my e-mail, but the drivers installed without a hitch. But did not seem to work. I have 2 usb-c(3.1) devices to test with and an adapter and all of them come up with the attached error.

Did you try to power off the computer for 1 minute and then to restart it?
Does the on-board Intel USB 3.1 Controller use the latest Firmware?
Have you tried to check the "Properties" of the Controller from within the Device Manager? Maybe there is another setting required.

I checked and I should have the latest firmware. (though I’m checking with the manufacture MSI) but checking through device manager I am getting this error on the usb 3.1 host controller

Device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15B5&SUBSYS_11112222&REV_00\6&2fb9e54&0&001000E4 had a problem starting.

@RobertWhitten :
Thanks for the reply.
Actually I have no idea how to solve the start problem. Maybe the Forum member 100PIER can help.
I am back tomorrow morning.

Fair enough. I appreciate the help! I’m new to the forums, Would you happen to know how I would go about contacting 100PIER?

@RobertWhitten
I am 100PIER, you can contact me via Private Message.

@all:
Before I am going to offer the mod+signed variant of the latest Intel USB 3.1 drivers within the start post of this thread, I need test results from users, who have a system with an Intel USB 3.1 Controller and are running Win10 x64. The download link to the mod+signed 64bit drivers can be found >here<.
Thanks in advance!

@100PIER :
Have you already tried to get my mod+signed Intel USB 3.1 drivers installed?
If yes, did the drivers work? If not, do you have any idea why they do not work?

@Fernando ,
On my ASUS systems I have only Intel USB 3.0 ports and ASMEDIA USB 3.1 ports.
So, i use modded Intel USB 3.0 v4.0.5.55 and not modded USB 3.1 v15.2.30.13.
I ignore if v15.2.30.13 is backward compatible with Intel USB 3.0 controller.

The only current ‘bad’ experience I have with USB 3.0 v4.0.5.55 is that on a dual booting OS W10 x64 (X99 system) I can only replace the native MS USB 3.0 driver on one OS SSD only and not on the two SSD OS.

@100PIER :
Thanks for your reply.

My bad - I thought, that your current system has Intel USB 3.0 and Intel USB 3.1 Controllers.

Hello!
I have win 8.1 and a PCI usb 3 card that doesn’t work…
It’s a etron chipset…I have installed several times new and old drivers but nothing’s happened…
The card is not seen by the system although it was a pair of week ago…
Any solution?
Thanks for any help and for these nice pages…
Stefano

@stewecar :
Hello Stefano,
welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

As long as the device is not recognized by the OS and shown within the Device Manager (e.g. as "Unknown Device" with a yellow flag), you cannot solve the problem by trying to install any driver.
My conclusion: Either the PCI slot of your mainboard or the PCI USB 3.0 card is broken.
Solution: Insert the USB card into another PCI slot. If this doesn’t help, RMA the USB card or buy a new one.
Regards
Dieter (alias Fernando)

Thanks! I will buy a new card!

Hello again…
Yesterday i removed the PCI card and then i pull it back…
The card was seen by the OS…so i used for hours the external hd without any issue…
Then…I reinstalled an audio driver and the system asked me to reboot…once done the card was not recognized…
Don’t know how it could be possible but I think that it could be related to the OS…or I don’t know…maybe some voltage issue…
Thanks again.
S.

Although I do not know the exact reason of your issue, I recommend to buy a new USB 3.0 PCI card with a better/newer Controller on it.

thanks again!

@Fernando ,
I fixed now the USB 3.0 problem i had with a dual OS boot on my X99.
In fact I missed to install carefully and properly Intel USB 3.0 v4.0.5.55 driver on the newly fresh W10 x64 install OS (media SM950 PRO).
Now, the 2 booting off OS SSDs use the same Intel USB 3.0 v4.0.5.55 modded version driver and works fine and stable.

Hi,

I have an Lenovo Z50-70 laptop with Windows 10 x64 installed (upgraded from the original Windows 8), and when I try to copy files from the harddrive to my Kingston DataTraveler 100 G3 USB 3.0 stick I only get transfer speeds below 10 MB/s. It is terrible! When I use this USB stick on a different PC, I get a lot faster speeds, like a USB 3.0 port should give. So I tried asking Lenovo for help, but they do not support my Windows 10 upgrade, since my laptop had originally Windows 8. So I searched on Google and I found this forum. Now I’ve tried installing your Intel USB 3.0 drivers, first the controller, then the hub, then the switch. But still I only get less than 10 MB/s, like nothing changed. I see that the drivers in my Device Manager have been changed, so I think the installation went OK. I tried re-installing the drivers (first controller, then hub, then switch) again, but still no change. I also tried removing all the drivers from Device Manager and then re-installing again, but still no luck. I hope you can help me. I have some screenshots for you:

Thanks.

I am having this exact same problem after using a restore point on windows 10 my usb 3 speeds have plummeted, rolled back to win 8, reinstalled win8 and still slow.
Can windows 10 change firmware USB 3 chips on the motherboard?
Is there a fix?

Specs:
Asus P8P67 Deluxe
i7 2600k
980 Ti
Gskill sniper 1866
Samsung Evo 250gb SSD

EDIT: reinstalled win7 on another HDD which worked also unplugged the other drives, usb ect…

Welcome at Win-RAID Forum!

Since I am not able to modify/optimize the drivers themselves (that are the *.sys files), I cannot solve your problems.
My advice is to do a clean installation of Win10 in UEFI mode. Maybe your USB speed has been negatively affected by the previous OS upgrade procedure.
Once the freshly installed OS is up and running fine, I recommend to test the performance of the Intel USB 3.0 ports again. If you should still not be satisfied, do a manual "update" of the in-box USB 3.0 drivers according my guide (post #1).

Good luck!

@Fernando
I have some trouble when trying to install Intel USB3.0 modded on my W10 x64 Build 14366 Preview.
Here are the screenshoots with the Error Code.
Import seems work:

FERNANDO_Certification_Import.PNG

Controller driver installation seems work, but after PC reboot W10 produces this error:

USB3_Intel_install_1.PNG

USB3_Intel_install_2.PNG

So, at the moment i have come back to native USB 3.0 MS in the box (v10.0.014366.0) drivers.

With W10 x64 v1511 , same hardware, i get no problem to replace the native MS USB 3.0 drivers.
