@Eva_Fry :
Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum and thanks for your contribution.
Since your statement refers to all USB drivers for all USB Controllers fom the different manufacturers, I am moved your reply and the previous posts of the thread, where you posted it, into this more universal one.

Hi all,
the .rar file for "pure" 64bit Intel USB 3.0/3.1 Drivers v5.0.4.43 mod+signed by me (with DPInst option) seems to be corruptedā¦
Can you help me?
Thanks
Andrea
@mrreds :
Hello Andrea,
welcome to the Win-RAID Forum!
All *.RAR archives, which are offered within this Forum, are created by using WinRAR v5.xx, which use a better compression method than the WinRAR v4.xx series.
So you should use any WinRAR version of the v5.xx series, if you want to get its content properly unzipped.
If you should have problems even after having changed the WinRAR version, please let me know it.
Kind regards
Dieter (alias Fernando)
Hi Fernando,
you are right, with 7zip Iāve got the error. Winrar is ok.
EDIT by Fernando: Unneeded parts of the fully quoted post removed (to save space).
Hi Fernando,
Iām going crazy with an ASUS N551JX with Intel C series (ID HARDWARE DEV_8C31).
After Win10 upgrade from Win8 usb not working.
I tried in several ways to solve the problem, but I did not succeed, not even your tool solved the problem.
can you give me some suggestion?
Thanks.
@Fernando
Yes, I tried to uninstall the driver builtin in win10 upgrade process and āfind new hardwareā but it didnāt work.
I also tried to force the installation of w7 driver (from advanced boot options).
Now I canāt restore W8 (Iām over 10 days from upgrade) and W10 does not work properlyā¦
@Fernando
I think it as the last chanceā¦
The notebook is property of my customer that has upgradedā¦ and he want to use his notebook as soon as possible.
Thanks for your help.
Hello Here are my system specs: Windows 7 x64 and Asus X99-A II which has three different chipsets responsible for USB 3.0/3.1 control:
- Intel X99 (USB 3.0)
- ASMedia ASM1074 (USB 3.0)
- ASMedia ASM1142 (USB 3.1)
On my mainboardās website there are two files under USB section to download for Windows 7:
- Intel USB 3.0 Controller Driver 4.0.2.42
- ASMedia USB 3.1/3.0 Driver 1.16.33.1 (marked as beta version)
There is one additional file but it is only listed for Windows 10:
- ASMedia USB 3.1/3.0 Driver 1.16.35.1
On Intel website Iāve found something named as āIntel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver for IntelĀ® 8/9/100 Series and IntelĀ® C220/C610 Chipset Familyā - and the only version is 5.0.4.43. link: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/downloaā¦-Chipset-Family
I couldnāt find any ASMedia drivers official download on their website.
On this forum I can see some āsimilar namedā drivers:
a) Intel USB 3.0/3.1 eXtensible Host Controller Driver 5.0.4.43 (It is probably the same I mentioned above?)
b) Intel USB 3.0/3.1 Hub Driver 5.0.4.43
c) Intel USB 3.0/3.1 Host Controller Switch Driver 5.0.4.43
d) ASMedia USB 3.0/3.1 Drivers 1.16.49.1
Question 1: Should I install Intel USB 3.0/3.1 Driver 5.0.4.43 instead of 4.0.2.42 (listed on my mainboardās website) or is this something different?
Question 2: How can I tell which one of the three Intel USB 3.0/3.1 Drivers (a, b or c) is needed on my system? Or maybe I need all of them?
Question 3: Is latest ASMedia USB 3.0/3.1 Driver 1.16.49.1 safe to use on my system or should I use ASUS āofficialā 1.16.33.1 beta / 1.16.35.1?
Question 4: Does ASMedia USB file contain drivers for both ASM1074 and ASM1142 chipsets or do I need something else to install as well?
Question 5: Am I right that Windows 7 x64 is always natively supported so I do not need any of these modded drivers?
First post. Hi!
Only here to sh*tpost about the cert bug with driver version 5.0.3.43 (windows was unable to start after reboot)
Version 5.0.3.42 installed just fine.
Thanks for the drivers though.
Btw. is it possible to modify the driver so that the usb 3.1 roothub do not show up in āsafely eject deviceā.
Iāve tested a tweak in the registry that will remove the roothub.
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_15B6&SUBSYS_11112222&REV_00\6&1ced4a4e&0&001000E0
(Asus Z170-Pro motherboard)
And here there is a DWORD called āCapabilitiesā. If I set the value to ā0ā (original value ā4ā) the device do not show up! (why should it anyways?!)
This tweak doesnāt work after reboot as the value changes back to default ā4ā.
@Lex :
Here are my answers to your questions:
- For the Intel USB 3.0 Controller and the related Hub devices you should install the latest properly working Intel USB 3.0/3.1 drivers v5.x.x.xx.
- When you are using the Intel USB 3.0 ports, you have to install all 3 drivers for the Controller, the Hub devices and the Switch device). The DPInst method will do it automaticly for you.
- The ASMedia USB 3.0/3.1 drivers v1.16.49.1 are working fine with my Z170 chipset system. If you are unsure regarding your X99 system, try another one.
- All currently available ASMedia USB 3.0/3.1 Controllers and Hub devices are supported by the latest ASMedia USB 3.0/3.1 drivers.
- Yes!

Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum and thanks for your contribution.
My driver modifications just concern the OS and DeviveID compatibility, but notrhing else. Your mentioned tweak can be added by users, who want to get it.

@Fernando : Thank you for your answers.
ad.3. I think I will just install latest one (1.16.49.1) as this increase in version numbering (vs 1.16.33.1 beta / 1.16.35.1) is not so significant to expect any big changes inside package such as "backward incompatibility" with my X99 chipset (and these previous versions "worked fine" with it).
Got an Asrock Fatality Itx/ac mobo which is an AM4 ryzen mini itx board and theres a weird issue where it connects/reconnects my usb stick. Tried the AMD Zepellin 3.0/3.1 drivers from the first post but dpinstall says something about not being the right drivers. Any idea which are the appropriate ones
@zonkiel :
Please give us some information about the HardwareIDs of the on-board USB Controller (right-click onto it > Properties>Details>Property>HardwareIDs) and the OS you are running.
Sorry for the delay did not have access to the computer until today. Heres what i got
@zonkiel :
According to the HardwareIDs of your on-board AMD USB 3.0 Controller the 64bit AMD USB 3.0 Controller Driver v2.0.0.26 WHQL should work for your system, but maybe only while running Win7.
Forgot to answer your question. Win 10 Enterprise Creators Update (1703) is what iām running. But those drivers will not install. Any suggestions
Trying to install the VIA 64-bit drivers (VEN_1106&DEV_3483&CC_0C0330) but I get āThe best drivers for your device are already installedā when trying to update via Device Manager. Is installing the software package the only way?
Also tried the āHave Diskā method but it doesnāt work ("ā¦not compatible software driver").
Hello,
i have a very annoying problem since i switched from Windows 7 to Windows 10 (x64). When i first start my pc and plug in a usb 3 device, the speed is very low. On USB2-Level or below. After i do a reboot, the speed for alls usb devices is normal. i found out this problem have some other people too but no really solution. Because there are no USB3-Drivers for Windows 10 from Intel, i just tried to install the latest possible for USB2 for my chipset (Intel H77).
So i installed the "Intel(R) 7 Series/C216 Chipset family USB Enhanced Host Controller - 1E26" Version 9.3.0.1030.
But for the USB3-Controller only avaiable ist the "Intel(R) USB 3.0 eXtensible-Hostcontroller - 1.0 (Microsoft)". So this driver is from MS.
Now i found this forum and the modified drivers you offer. is it correct i would have to install the "pure 64bit Intel USB 3.0 Drivers v1.0.10.255 mod+signed (with DPInst option)"? Could installing theses divers solve my problem?
