[Outdated] USB 3.0/3.1 Drivers (original and modded)

Hey Fernando I decided to try again after 10 days and finally is working the 3.1 i did it Manually and read the instructions, everything is good now, thanks.
PS: Do you have more interesting things apart the usb drivers and ahci drivers? anything like NVIDIA drivers or audio, ethernet drivers, monitor maybe?ty.

@x58haze :
Thanks for having retried the installation of the AMD USB 3.1 drivers and for your feedback. It is fine, that the installation worked and that you are satisfied with the result.

No, I have enough to do with my current tasks, which already take too much time. I should rather reduce than expand my work for the Forum resp. for its members and visitors.

Hey Fernando, by the way there is an interesting tool that you may want to do some research, regardless to INTEL Patch reducing performance over AMD CPU? the tool it is called: Intel Compiler Patch, it will search for files over our HDD and SSD by modifying or replacing the GENUINE INTEL Code that may affects others CPU, do you know anything about that topic?

The thread or topic started in reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/AdvancedMicroDeā€¦_and_the_intel/

No, until now I havenā€™t heard or read anything about this tool.

are there any modded Win7 USB3.0 drivers which include UASP support?

@bgr02 :
My modification just concerns the text (*.INF) files and not the drivers themselves (= *.SYS files).

Dear Fernando, dear 100Pier, dear all,

Ok, I find new information but no solutions here:
ASRock X99 and USB 3.0/2.0 and the EHCI/xHCI host controllers

I tried the program from Alexx999 to switch every port to EHCI. When itā€™s done my device manager start to blink (like refresh) every 3-5 seconds. Itā€™s the same behaviour I have in the device manager when I Disabled the Intel USB3.0 Mode in the BIOS. Itā€™s like I have a problem with the EHCI controller.

Anyway, it didnā€™t make my USB2.0 devices working.
I am really tired of this problem.

Jean

Hello

When I try to install these drivers by the Device Manager (.inf), I have the Windows message that the last (or better) drivers are already installed (Microsoft drivers)
With Windows 10, it is necessary to use the MS drivers for the ASMedia controllers (as for Intel) ?

I ask because I have speed problems with USB ports (ASMedia)

Thanks

You should not trust such messages. The OS Device Management doesnā€™t know, which one of the compatible drivers is the best.

No, the original ASMedia USB 3.0/3.1 drivers do fully support Win10 (contrary to the Intel USB 3.0/3.1 drivers).

I guess Windows acts according to the rank of drivers

@Grundraisin
I have done a test set of USB 3.0 / USB 2.0 configuration on my X99 ASUS (W10 RS3 64bit) machine using up to 10 different model USB keys plugged on different USB ports.
I have no USB 3.1 key.
The ASUS Manual does recommend to plug USB 3.0 devices on USB 3.0 ports and USB 3.1 devices on USB 3.1 ports for faster and better performance.
It is also specified "due to the design of the Intel 9 series chipset, all USB devices connected to the USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports are controlled by the xHCI controller. some ā€˜legacyā€™ USB devices must update their firmware for better compatibility"
On the rear I/O connection there are only 2 USB 3.1 ports handled by Asmedia Controller. And also 4 USB 3.0 ports and 4 USB 2.0 ports , they are all handled by Intel xHCI controller.

Looking at the details on the different screenshots you should observe that any ports are working.
You should observe little performance difference when using a USB 3.0 device on one Intel port or one Asmedia port.
As I have no USB 3.1 key I cant compare USB 3.0 vs USB 3.1 key performances.
You should observe with Format FAT32 / Format NTFS does produce very different performances.
And you should be careful about USB 3.0 key devices quality as you can see on the last screen. Some USB 3.0 keys on the market have the ā€˜labelā€™ USB 3.0 but they do offer a USB 2.0 key performance.
Hope this help you.

Eh, I spent over 3h tonight on these pure drivers trying to install them - this pure driver was telling me all the time that it is corrupted - but rar crc was ok, so I thought Iā€™m doing something wrong.
In the end, it seems your pure pack doesnā€™t work on my Windows 7 as you included only Windows 10 version insideā€¦ After 3h I downloaded full package and noticed there are two directoriesā€¦ 3h wasted. :confused:

@Lex :
Thank you very much for your report about the obviously wrongly described OS compatibility of the ā€œpureā€ ASMedia USB 3.0/3.1 drivers v1.16.41.3. It is not easy to understand, that you are the first user, who realized this, because I have offered this driver within the start post since February 2017. I am sorry about the lost time until you found out the reason for your issue.

It has now to be tested, whether the old ASMedia USB 3.0/3.1 drivers v1.16.41.3 are still better than the newest v1.16.50.1 drivers. If not, I will remove the old drivers from the start post.
Please give me your feedback!

Good luck with these new ASMedia USB 3.0/3.1 drivers!
Dieter (alias Fernando)

I have a question about ā€œpure 64bit Intel USB 3.0/3.1 Drivers v5.0.4.43 WHQL for Win7ā€ drivers.

There are three folders in package:
- Controller Driver - as first
- Hub Driver - as second
- Switch Driver - only if applicable

I do not use DPInst.
1. Iā€™m pointing ā€œ/!</b> Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controllerā€ device to ā€œController Driverā€ folder and it installs correctly.
2. New ā€œ/!</b> Unknown Deviceā€ appears.
3. Iā€™m pointing this new ā€œ/!</b> Unknown Deviceā€ to ā€œHub Driverā€ folder and it installs correctly.

At this moment I do not have any more ā€œ/!</b>ā€ devices connected to this driver, but I have one ā€œknownā€ device at System Devices named PCI Bus which Hardware IDs is the same as Switch Driverā€™s one: *PNP0A08

What does ā€œonly if applicableā€ mean in this case?

Does it mean that I should still upgrade this ā€œalready knownā€ device with that Switch Driver (because that device exist in my system)?
Or I no longer need to apply that Switch Driver (because device is ā€œalready knownā€ and has no yellow warning sign)?

@Lex :
The addendum ā€œonly if applicableā€ means: Only if there is a device named ā€œPCI Express Root Complexā€ listed within the ā€œSystem devicesā€ section of the Device Manager, you have to install the Intel USB Switch Driver.

@Fernando : Ah, ok. :slight_smile: Does this "PCI Express Root Complex" device have the same name in every Windows OS or can it be "a little different" sometimes?

@Lex :
I havenā€™t yet seen another name for that Intel USB Switch device (as long as the Intel Switch driver hasnā€™t been installed).

OK, so if I see "known" "PCI Express Root Complex" device under "System devices" I will point this device to Switch Driver folder and upgrade its driver.

Thanks for explanation.
