[Outdated] USB 3.0/3.1 Drivers (original and modded)

@Lex Thanks buddy, and also thanks Fernando for posting useful information and drivers for most system! (y)

I can confirm that Windows 10 1709 don’t longer work with the AMD ryzen 64 bit 3.0 nor the 3.1 and nor the normal 3.0
When trying to install the AMD 64 bit controller:

Hardware ID of the extensible 3.0

Driver version:

When trying to install the 3.1 AMD USB 3.1 drivers v1.0.3.0 WHQL or the version 3.1 v1.0.2.0 WHQL
on this device: it will says (installed) but Pc won’t recognize usb ports.
Until i reboot the System.

@x58haze :
Please try the manual installation of the AMD USB 3.0/3.1 drivers again, but this time you should use the “Let me pick…” > “Have Disk” option.
I bet, that you will get them installed this way.

Well did the manual thing with the microsoft extensible 3.0, and it worked, but the Extensible 3.1 doesn’t work, it will install and both mice mouse+keyboard will not connect back, once is installed i need to reboot pc again. And in the read-me there is not descriptions at all hehe

not working :frowning:

I did it manually like you recommended me, and selected this XHCI for the AMD USB 3.1 extensible host controller microsoft 1.10) and yup it will prompt a message: finish installed, but mouse wont work nor the keyboard.

Then i tried the hub folder 3.1 for the Usb Root Hub 3.0 and this is what happens:
But is okay if there is not solution is fine.

@x58haze :
Have you tried to install the USB 3.1 Hub driver manually after the reboot?

Yep after the reboot windows put by default his driver 3.1 extensible, so I proceed to install the hub driver in the device root usb 3.0 which is an extension of 3.1 extensible by microsoft, and when doing manual
It appears 2 choices: Generic USB SUPERSPEED and Generic Usb.

@x58haze :
It is easy to differ the different USB Controllers (by their name), but it is difficult to find out, which USB Hub device belongs wo which USB Controller (has to be checked by the HardwareIDs).

Also i had to connect a PS/2 keyboard to test while in windows without rebooting pc each time, to diagnose the problem
Right now i’m using the Rear panel USB ports 2.0 which are the only one in the rear, and Windows detected as 3.1 devices, so in Windows 7 that didn’t happen and drivers works, i guess in Windows 10 1607 anniversary does work too, but on this 1709 build, seems to not work, so i’ll keep trying and post some news

Thanks for your time Fernando.

Dear All,

First, thank you Fernando for your work.

I work with Asrock X99 Extreme6 work under Windows 7 x64 (details below)

Here my problem:
I can’t read any USB2.0 devices (3 differents USB sticks and my phone Samsung GS3) on the different USB3.0 port except the rear USB3.0 port (n°13 in rear panel). All USB3 devices (microSD card reader, external HDD) work on all USB3 ports.
I tried all the drivers from Asrock website since 2 years now, from Intel drivers, and many drivers website and abandonned at the end. Everytime I have to connect a USB2 device I go under my desk, take my frontal lamp and plug it in the n°13 USB3 port

Recently, I buy a new phone, still USB2, and I try to plug it in my front panel (internal USB3.0 headers Intel) and of course it didnt work (as usual )

What I did:
-Uninstall all usb devices from my device manager (I use the keyboard only to reinstall from a “fresh” system)
-Install first pure 64bit Win7 Intel USB 3.0+3.1 Drivers v5.0.4.43 WHQL with DPInst option using DPInst as admin
-Restart
-Install pure ASMedia USB 3.0+3.1 Drivers v1.16.49.1 WHQL incl DPInst using DPInst as admin
-Restart

Finally I have an unknown device in my device manager (as usual…) and any of my USB2 device are read by any USB3 port except the rear one n°13.

When I plug a USB2 device in my rear panel (port n°1, USB2 port) it appears like this:

or if I plug in front panel it appears like:

And nothing happen if I plug it in port n°10 or 11

I am really stuck with this problem and can’t find any solutions. I suspect Intel drivers, because these ports are Intel "controlled"

After full uninstall I also tried to install in this sequence:
-Install first pure ASMedia USB 3.0+3.1 Drivers v1.16.49.1 WHQL incl DPInst using DPInst as admin
-Restart
-Install pure 64bit Win7 Intel USB 3.0+3.1 Drivers v5.0.4.43 WHQL with DPInst option using DPInst as admin
-Restart
Same problem

I also try everything I can in the BIOS

Here my system:

My rear Panel

My internal USB3.0 headers

And which controller Intel or ASMedia for which USB port (found here: Intel X99 motherboard)

USB bios settings:

If one have THE idea to find the solution. Thank you very much for your help,

Jean

Something is wrong with the Intel usb 3.0/3.1 5.0.4.4 drivers. I intstall the WInRaid Ca certificate, goes without problem. Then I install Controller driver and get a prompt to reboot. I have to reboot, because usb 3.0 hub disapears after installing Controller driver. After reboot I get this message in driver window: "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. … Code 52". Hub driver is not signed by the way. Well this happends on my Asus G751jy laptop, but G752vy laptop installs the driver no problem. Both have secure boot enabled.

@Grundraisin
May be this can help you, but my configuration is different (ASUS Sabertooth X99, W10 x64).
I don’t use Intel USB3 drivers and do use native MS driver:

@Grundraisin :
Hello Jean,
welcome to the Win-RAID Forum and thanks for your detailed report!
Unfortunately I cannot really help you, because I don’t have any own experience with an X99 Chipset system. That is why I would have recommended to contact our Foum member 100PIER, but he has already replied to your request.

Please give us some details about this “Unknown Device” by looking into its HardwareIDs (right-click onto the Device > “Properties” > “Deteils” > “Property” > “HardwareIDs” ).

Regards
Dieter (alias Fernando)

@winyl :
Welcome to the Win-RAID Forum!
These are my tips:
1. Disable temporarily the “Secure Boot” option, before you start with the installation of the mod+signed USB drivers.
2. Use the DPInst method.

Good luck!
Dieter (alias Fernando)

@Fernando :

“Unknown” really mean unknown:

@100Pier
Do you have a link to find these Microsoft drivers?

Many thanks to both of you!

Jean

That is a pity.
Do you get this “Unknown Device” entry even after having unplugged all formerly USB connected devices (inclusive SD card etc.)

100PIER has them in-the-box and listed within the C:\Windows\System32\drivers directory, because he is running Win10. Win7 doesn’t have these generic MS USB 3.0/3.1 drivers.

@Grundraisin
I do use W10 with native USB drivers that W7 does not offer as Fernando replied.
So, it is difficult to help you. Why are you using W7 with a modern X99 motherboard ?

@Fernando :

Yes this “Unknow Device” is here with any devices plug in

@100Pier:

Yes I have no guarantee that it will work with Windows10 but at the end it will be a possibility to migrate to this system.

YES IT’ A PITY

You probably mean “without” any device plugged in.
Anyway there must be an on-board or attached device, which has been detected, but cannot be analyzed correctly by the OS Device Management.
So it would be a good idea to install Win10 as the much newer OS (maybe only temporarily) to find out this specific device, which causes USB problems while running Win7.

Oh yes, “without” any devices plugged in, sorry.

Another thing I don’t understand is:
In the manual it is describe that rear port 10 and 11 are ASMedia ASM1074 hub, and port 13 is ASMedia ASM1042.
Is it expected that none of these numbers “1042” and “1074” appears in the ID in the device manager?

I will investigate microsoft drivers for windows 7 if they exists…

Jean

Yes, that is absolutely normal.

@ all:
Update of the Start Post

Changelog:

  • new: “pure” 32/64bit ASMedia USB 3.0/3.1 Drivers v1.16.50.1 WHQL incl DPInst dated 10/11/2017

  • A complete Drivers & Software Set v1.16.50.1 is not yet available.
    Thanks to Station-Drivers for the source package!

I have just installed the “pure” 64bit ASMedia USB 3.1 drivers onto my Z170 system running Win10 v1709 by using the DPInst method and everything works fine here.
Here is a picture with the new Device Manager entries and the driver details:
