[Problem] Fujitsu D3642-B1X with i9 9900T CPU

Hello

Can anyone help me with the BIOS on a Fujitsu D3642-B1x to run an i9 9900T ES processor? I’ll have a programmer tomorrow and be able to download the BIOS from the motherboard. I think it’s currently the latest version, version 1.18.

Edit by Fernando: Thread moved into the „BIOS Problems“ Category and title customized

Latest version seems to be 1.29 and 906ED is present with 2024 mcode…

do you have some links? in Fujitsu i see only v1.18 here: FUJITSU Support pages EMEA

However, I found v1.29 on the Kontron website: Wing FTP Server - Weblink Download which seems to match what you wrote. I’ll try to upload it.

I dont need that file (i already analyzed) and posting the linking it your post is enough, however any user that is willing to research a bit more may ask you a dump of the system and not a FSC update file.
And yes, Kontron is the new FSC …“IT owner” on mb division.

Well, full of hope, I updated to v1.29, but the situation hasn’t changed. After applying power to the board, MB autostart but there’s no display.

And CPU works on ASrock H370M-itx/ac MB

Needs specific 906ED mcode(older/newer), ME FW 12 updated (12.0.97.3000)/downgraded or bios code patch
… or OEM hw design prevents it…

cpuinfo shows:

vendor_id : GenuineIntelcpu family : 6 model : 158 model name : Genuine Intel(R) CPU 0000 @ 1.70GHz stepping : 12 microcode : 0xf4 cpu MHz : 3446.067 cache size : 16384 KB physical id : 0 siblings : 16 core id : 7 cpu cores : 8 apicid : 15 initial apicid : 15 fpu : yes fpu_exception : yes cpuid level : 22

ME Version: 12.0.93.2331

I already knew that info…sir, if the system is not a primary one get a spi programmer and start working on it, or wait for any user that is willing to lose time with this, that’s all from me, good luck.

OK i have BIOS from motherboard

D3642-B.zip (8.7 MB)

If anyone would be so kind as to help me with modding this bios I would be eternally grateful.

That BIOS has VBIOS OROM 1030 and Coffee Lake requires 1054+.

I don’t know whether the motherboard is set to boot with CSM enabled but if it is this could be a reason for no display.

The GOP OROM is fine for CSM disabled.

Okay, I’ll check it out, because honestly, I don’t remember if it’s dual or just UEFI.

I have one more observation: my i9 9900T ES CPU doesn’t show up in the BIOS as an i9 9900T, but as “16 x Genuine Intel(R) CPU 0000 @ 1.70GHz.” Maybe that’s the problem… It only boots without a problem on an ASRock H370M-itx/ac motherboard.

@cpufury Your CPU is an Engineering Sample (ES), that is the reason for the strange name.

exactly, but doesn’t the BIOS start because it doesn’t identify the CPU? Kontron confided to me that 9 gen processors work on this board from bios version 1.6, but when asked about support for ES cpu, they only replied that they don’t see me on the list of sales partners…

@cpufury Normally the vendor will do initial testing with their chipset and some ES/QS CPU.

According to this, the Fujitsu D3642-B should at least work with a retail 9900T with BIOS R.1.5.0 or later. The PDF was dated March 2019.

It doesn’t state whether they used a ES/QS CPU for validation, although the 9900T ES with S-Spec QQC0 was seen in Jan 2019, which is likely the CPU that you have.
