[Problem] Mod of Asus Prime Z690-P BIOS with Programmer

Hi,

ASUS seems now have the bios saving in two chips instead of one. But provided BIOS download file is only one .CAP

The winbond chip is 25Q64JVSIQ

I read in this thread there’s some manual work needs to be done to prepare the bios file that can be flashed to those chips: [Problem] Bricked Bios ASUS TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WIFI D4

particularly

“Yes, the .CAP file can be used but must be prepared first.

Original mb data must be transfered from backup to downloaded .CAP (FD44editor)
Then cut 0x1000 from top of the .CAP
Next, select block 0x800000 (8192Kb) cut, as this is the Winbond IC with CSME v16.1
Remaing data 0x1000000 (16384Kb) is main bios Mxic IC.”

Is there a much detailed guide on how to do this?

”Original mb data must be transferred from backup to downloaded .CAP (FD44editor)”
how to do this?

”Then cut 0x1000 from top of the .CAP”
does it mean from 0x0 to 0x1000, after cut, what to do with the cut data and remaining data?

“Next, select block 0x800000 (8192Kb) cut, as this is the Winbond IC with CSME v16.1”
What to do with the cut data and remaining data? Do I save this data from 0x800000 size 8192KB as the ready to program file for Winbond IC?

“Remaining data 0x1000000 (16384Kb) is main bios Mxic IC”
I guess from 0x1000000 and size 16384kb is the data ready to be programmed to the XMC chip?

I have RT809F programmer and soldering iron, IC sockets ready. Just have no experience with ASUS two IC motherboard.

Thank you.

issue

Ok here’s the issue I have.

I’ve used FD44Editor to transfer the mac address, UUID, system SN to the factory BIOS cap bios, however after saving the file, it’s size is 4KB smaller.

Then if I cut the 0x0~0x1000 away,

cut 8192KB save as winbond chip data,

The remaining data is only 16380KB, not making up of 16384KB anymore.

maybe FD44 is too old, is there a guide on how to use UEFITool to insert/transfer those data from the bios backup files?
