I have a problem with enabling secure boot, it will never boot into windows 11 unless if my CSM is enabled and secure boot is disabled with Storage set to Legacy instead of UEFI, when storage is set to UEFI, it fails to boot into windows 11 although my windows is UEFI.
Ive already tried reinstalling windows 11 and repairing UEFI bootmgr but that also failed, my only thought is that my bios does not like it when secure boot is enabled.
I already have a TPM 2.0 chip inside the motherboard.
anybody know a fix for this issue? its preventing me from playing many games like valorant, bf6, cod, etc games that require secure boot to be on.
Are you using a SATA SSD or a NVME one? If it’s a SATA SSD then there’s already a report of such BIOS bug here. Up until now no one has posted a solution, except for a guy selling his custom-made BIOS.
yeah im on a SATA SSD, I looked everywhere and couldn’t find a solution to this bug
UPDATE: i downgraded to windows 10, i played valorant and it was fine, it didnt ask me for tpm or secure boot to be on, but the next day i got a VAN restriction asking me to turn on secure boot even on windows 10, im assuming they are starting to enforce secure boot to be on
Do you have a CH341A for recovery? If yes, then would you like to test some modded BIOS? I suspect the issue might be the incompatibility between the EFI RAID driver and the chipset.
Are you flashing by AFUWIN? You should use the CH341A – wipe the chip and write the new file. We can always flash back the original dump so no worries.
ok, will try this tomorrow since its pretty late right now where im at, and will let you know
well, the clip for the CH341A programmer the plastic part is not making proper connection to the bios chip, i will place an order for another one but for now is there another way i can flash the bios?
I think you should wait till you get the new clip, cuz if the board fails to POST you will have a bricked board for a few days. But if you’re ok with that, you can use AFUWIN/AFUDOS with /p /b /n /c /x parameters.
By the way, why do you think the clip is not making proper contact with the BIOS chip? If the chip cannot be detected, you can try to plug in both 8-pin CPU and 24-pin ATX power, power up the PSU (but don’t power on the board) then try to detect the chip once again. This works in various Chinese MBs from my experience.
the clip i had had a weak build quality and basically worn out and the pins werent sitting correctly, i have ordered another clip and will try again when it arrives.
UPDATE: I flashed the bios u sent me and now pc doesn’t boot up, I flashed it using the CH341A
No I don’t. In fact I don’t even own a board with 5-series chipset. I’m still trying to figure out what exactly is causing such issue. Can you try to change SATA mode from AHCI to RAID in the BIOS to see whether the drive gets detected?
Yes, you would need to reinstall Windows after switching between different SATA modes. So we found a temporary solution to get SATA drives detected with CSM disabled – but it comes with some performance loss (AHCI is better if you don’t use any RAID arrays)
Are you sure? Because I had it on RAID with csm enabled and secure boot off and when I tried to do the same with secure boot on and csm disabled its still not booting into windows
