Radeon RDNA1 Series VBIOS Configuration

Thank you for all this Satori!
I’d rather mod the cooling to include MOSFET and inductor, I don’t like the idea of trimming the card down and losing FPS.
The new mod you are about to create should perform better or worse than stock vBIOS? I mean the one to use without MOSFET and inductor cooling.

I found a board picture online, could you please mark for me the inductor and MOSFET?

[EDIT] I rarely have crashes with this card. I happens once every a couple months

I want to ask secure boot work with this?

Also you gonna make a tutorial how do you this, or you will mod only the vbios?

I have send you the file through a message, this file should resolve the crashes problem,

I am going to highlight the area needed for colling to achieve seamless experience.

Hi and welcome Mr. boombastick,

Definitely, secure boot works well with this,

Providing custom VBIOS is safer and easier and without preaching policies from my side with other parties.

The highlighted yellow boxes for SoC VDDC and VRAM MVDD and VDDCI power suppliers,

The area between the red boxes either to add thermal pad or thin layer of thermal paste connected to core thermal paste or to add electrical insulation tape of 105°C or more on the heatsink or kapton tape,

Raspberry pi copper mini heatsinks should be sufficient.

Today I have sent a file thay should work well even with the current setup of the thermal solution, to postpone increasing the power limit above the default 135W until the suggested cooling improvements are applied,

Please remember to verify the MD5 hash for the file that was send before using it.

Thank you! Will try it tonight or tomorrow and post back the result

Please take your time.

Gentlemen, I would appreciate if your good-selves could share your experience using the pre configured VBIOS of your graphics cards.

@Satori I have just flashed my GPU.
It succeeded but now I can’t install gpu driver. It throws an error about incompatible hardware with this link for more info:
https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-kb182

Tried the latest driver available for Radeon 5600 XT and auto installer, both fail with that error.
I also tried Radeon driver v21.9.1 (first one to support ReBAR) and fails with same error.

Screenshot of flash success:
flash success

The new product name caught my attention: R57XT instead of R56XT… looks like you modded a 5700 XT’s vBIOS.

NOTE: batch file threw error about not finding x29.exe, I manually executed the commands one by one and x29 executed OK that way.

@ElTeclas
I have changed the product ID to match RX 5700 to enable other features not available to RX 5600 XT, it seems the graphics driver have a way to detect this and probably through the VRAM bus width,

No problem, we can change the ID back to RX 5600 XT.

Let me send you the file.

@ElTeclas
I have sent you the file,

Your next feedback is appreciated,

Please remember to verify the MD5 hash of the zip file.

Oh I see. I have the suspicion it’s not because of the RX57XT part of the new model name but because of the CUSTOM-BUILT part. The error mentions OEM built cards as one of the causes, maybe AMD forces the users to use OEM’s manufacturer driver for those cards instead of their own.
I’m just guessing, as soon as I can I’ll try your new ROM

Please take your time.

Just tried the last vBIOS: now the driver installs, but the computer hangs as soon as it finishes installation.
It also hangs on reboot, on windows loading screen.
Had to revert to original vBIOS

No worries, I believe first I need to unlock the card for modification before doing anything else.

My opinion is to give the user, only the bios with the updated gop and the bar fix, to test.

And then you cant try to optimize it with more differences in the vbios.

No problem.

YES!! Finally I have fully functional Resizable BAR on my Radeon 5600 XT!!

Thank you very much @Satori, now I’ll go play a while and check wether performance is improved or not.

Congratulations to both author and user…
@Satori why Asus as display name of the card?
Regards.

EDIT: Thank you for the explanation of possible GPU-Z bug.
