RAID1 Array incorrectly identified by Windows 10 as SSD

Hi,

I have Windows 10 Pro x64 with an Asus P9X79 board and Intel iRST v13.1.0.1058 driver. I use a RAID0 array with 3 SSD’s and a RAID1 array with two WD Raptor HDD’s. The Intel RST Software shows the arrays correctly, however the Windows Defrag/Optimise tool shows the RAID1 array incorrectly as a SSD drive instead of a HDD.

I used the

commands but none of them makes Windows detect the RAID1 array correctly. TRIM is enabled for the SSD RAID0 array and I can optimise it normally.
Where does the problem lie here? Is it Windows, or is it the Intel driver? And how can I fix it?

It is Windows, which obviously doesn’t detect the members of the RAID1 array correctly.

Since the related MEI command had no effect, you cannot fix it. The only disadvantage is, that you cannot defrag the RAID1 array by using the Windows “Optimizer“. Maybe a third party defrag tool will do the work without any problem.

I have the same issue on my X99 system and found that any driver under the 13 series works eg 12.9.4.1000 found here on WinRaid. It is a known issue and there is a thread on the Intel Forums too but no known fix I have found so far.
