@ bigplus: Welcome at Win-RAID Forum and thanks for your interesting report. I am glad, that you are satisfied with the latest AMD AHCI driver I am offering within the start post of this thread.
No, the driver files have been extracted by me from official AMD Catalyst packages, where they are not easy to be found. All driver files are original (untouched).
Today AMD has released its latest AMD Chipset Driver Set 12.14 with new AMD AHCI drivers for Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1.
Update of the start post
Changelog:
new: 32/64bit Win8/8.1 AMD AHCI drivers v1.3.1.245 WHQL dated 09/23/2014, suitable for AMD AHCI Controllers DEV_ 4391/4394, DEV_7801/7804 and DEV_7901/7904
new: 32/64bit Win7 AMD AHCI drivers v1.2.1.376 WHQL dated 09/23/2014, suitable for AMD AHCI Controllers DEV_ 4391/4394, DEV_7801/7804 and DEV_7901/7904
It has to be discovered by users with an AMD Chipset (like stoppardi), if these new AHCI drivers a) do support SB7xx Southbridges (EDIT: Has been successfully verified by Qan) and b) can be used with Vista (32/64bit).
I’ve just tested new: 32/64bit Win7 AMD AHCI drivers v1.2.1.376 WHQL dated 09/23/2014, suitable for AMD AHCI Controllers DEV_ 4391/4394, DEV_7801/7804 and DEV_7901/7904 Well, everything went slower again. Rolled back to 64bit Win7 AMD AHCI driver v1.2.1.359 WHQL and restarted, everything runs smooth and fast. The difference is so conspicuous, like if I take 4Gb RAM off and then put it back again. Still wondering how come 100Kb junk of driver files can make such a good speed improvement. Maybe Win7 AMD AHCI v1.2.1.359 WHQL driver was coded by some smart developer, who already left the company or maybe it is only a coincidence relating to my laptop’s model and OS configuration.
I would recommend to recover and keep AMD AHCI v1.2.1.359 driver links open, so other people could test an overall performance on different PC/Laptop models.
@ SoNic67: Thanks for the tip to add later released Intel AHCI/RAID drivers to the start post of this thread. Since there are already newer Intel RST(e) drivers than the v13.2.4.1000 ones available, I decided to put the Intel RST(e) AHCI/RAID drivers v13.5.0.1056 into the start post of this thread. By the way: All the other v13 series Intel RST(e) drivers (inclusie the v13.2.4.1000 ones) can be found within the start post of >this< thread.
@ bigplus: Thank you for having tested the latest AMD AHCI drivers v1.2.1.376 WHQL and for your interesting report.

I can confirm that these Win7 64 drivers are working for Acer Aspire M7300 mainboard, with AMD SB7XX chipset.
According to HWiNFO chipset is "AMD RS880 + SB810/SB850". And computer brand is HP ProLiant MicroServer, one of the oldest models (BIOS Date: 12/31/99). May be it is so slow that I don`t notice any difference.
I have a GA-MA78GPM-UD2H (rev. 1.0) AMD 780G + SB700 Chipset. I have installed Windows 8.1 I tried installing the newest drivers on this thread and get awful stuttering in games ( v1.3.1.245 WHQL - 9/23/14). I have also tried the older drivers posted here and have the same thing (v1.3.1.220 WHQL - 3/21/14).
The only drivers I have been able to use without having awful stuttering is v1.3.1.154 - 6/27/13. It works alright, but I would like to use a newer driver if I could find one that works. Can you guys help?
Open the "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers" section of the Device Manager, right click onto the listed device named "AMD SATA Controller" and choose the options "Update Driver Software" > "Browse my Computer…" > "Let me pick…" and make sure, that the option "Show compatible devices" is checked. Then choose the listed "Standard SATA AHCI Controller". After the next reboot all drives, which are connected to any of the AMD SATA ports, are managed by the generic MS AHCI driver named STORAHCI.SYS.
Thanks for the procedure. That was much easier than I thought it would be!
I was able to "update" to the out of box ahci drivers. I do not get any stuttering in games with those drivers. Weird the Microsoft drivers works better? Weird that the date on the out of box drivers say 2006 lol.
With the AMD drivers I was using I had some weird "pauses" during operation since installing my SSD. They were even worse when I tried to use RAPID mode in the Samsung Magician software. Maybe I will have less problems with the out of box driver.
I did have slightly higher benchmark scores with the out of box driver in magician.
The Win8.1 in-box MS AHCI driver is dated 08/22/2013. You can verify it by searching for the file named STORAHCI.SYS within the C:\Windows\System32\Drivers folder, right clicking onto it and choosing the "Properties" > "Details" tabs.
Fernando, i love your dedication and appreciate the help given to others over the years.
Need some info on my setup:
amd sb850, one ssd, win7 64 installed a few months ago when i had another two hdds in raid 0. I have removed the hard drives and i only have the ssd. The sata ports are still in raid mode with the latest 1540 driver.
Can i switch to ahci and install 1.2.1.376 without reinstalling windows?
