[REQUEST] Acer a515-51G bios mod

Hey ! i am looking to unlock my bios to gain access to the hidden settings like tdp limit, fan control ,etc.
i have disabled the secure boot from bios as well.

i am running the latest bios vs 2.02 from acer. i am not able to share the link right now. will share if required in future post.

my intel me ver is 11.7 and i have already extracted the biosreg.bin file from the step 1 and is attached here . In step 2 i got the error 368 failed to disable write protection for bio space acer.

Should i follow the guide you have put in here for the asus device from step 6 onwards? is the shell.efi file same for every device or i have to extract it from my system ?
In step 7 its mentioned to place modbios file in the root folder of usb, but where can i find this modbios file?

Thank you in advance.
---------------------

@Lost_N_BIOS i found this bios mod which is similar to my device. the only difference i am assuming is my variant comes with a dedicated graphic driver and the others doesn’t. JFI the bios for both the system is different on company website. www . win-raid . com/t5903f54-Acer-A-unlock-advanced-hidden-options . html
will it be safe to use this ?
Thank you

@siddhar1h - About the “Other” BIOS/thread you linked, no for two reasons. One, that is not same model you have, and two, that is user specific BIOS.
TDP and fan controls are usually EC FW controlled in most laptops, not something you can change that will have any effect in the BIOS. Is that all your after? If yes, then no need to unlock BIOS, nothing to do there that will help.

If you still want unlocked BIOS, please >>

Please download the following package, and run the command below from each versions folder that directly contains it’s exe.
Before doing this, make sure you have secure boot disabled in BIOS, any BIOS password removed, and TPM/Encryption disabled.
Once done, copy the entire folder somewhere, delete everything but any created vars.txt and then repackage this and send to me.
This way all created vars.txt remain in place in the folders of the version that created them.
There may be errors, not all may work, ignore and carry on as outlined

H2OUVE.exe -gv vars.txt

Hey @Lost_N_BIOS
Thank you the response.

I still would like to carry on with bios unlock and the files are attached here that i have extracted.
JFI my device model comes in 3 different variants with different gpu i.e. 940mx, mx130 and mx 150. my variant is running mx150.

my cpu ie i58250u which turbo boost upto 3.4 . but since the tdp limit is set for 15 w it starts throttling within few secs on the highest clock. my working around for this was to underclock the cpu to 2.5 to stop throttling . The same chipset in Lenovo C930 doesn’t enforce same 15 w tdp limit and can easily run without throttling at highest speed. I believe there is a section in advance bios to play around these settings.

Thank you so much for your time and efforts.

@siddhar1h - You’re welcome!

About CPU throttling - You may be able to adjust PL1/PL2 and change that throttling behavior.
But, it’s best to ask for help with that at TechPowerUp forum in the Throttlestop section, so unclewebb can help you figure out what setting you need to change in the BIOS and or if it’s possible to address via BIOS
He’ll be able to tell you based on what you can do with throttlestop. And, be sure to tell him you have unlocked BIOS, so you can change all settings in BIOS (Well, will have shortly )

Guide for your reference -https://www.ultrabookreview.com/31385-th…ttlestop-guide/

For the BIOS unlock continued - Please drop this info H20UVE_100.00.16.08 folder and then run this command >> H2OUVE.exe -sv varsM.txt
There will be a list of success/failure, reboot once that is done and then do FPT spoiler step #1-2 again (use new file name, so you don’t mix any of these up w/ previous >> Such as biosreg.new)
http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fil…653572632275654

Also, in spoiler, before you dumped vars earlier, you did have all that I mention at the top in spoiler already disabled/removed correct?? I’m talking about BIOS password, secure boot disable, etc?
If you did not have all that I mentioned done, then DO NOT use this, we need to make new. Do all that, then make new vars dump (just from 100.00.16.08 ) and send to me

If you have already modified the BIOS in ANY way, you will need to re-flash it back to factory defaults using factory method (NOT FPT)!!!
Additionally, please remove all BIOS passwords, disable secure boot, and disable TPM or Encryption if you have enabled. Do this before moving on to below

If you do not have Intel ME drivers installed, install them now from your system driver download page, then start over here after reboot.
Check your BIOS’ main page and see if ME FW version is shown. If not then > DOWNLOAD HWINFO64 HERE <

Once HWINFO is open, look at the large window on the left side, expand motherboard, and find the ME area.
Inside that section is the ME Firmware version. Take note of the version. (ie. write it down or get a screenshot)

Once you have that, go to the thread linked below, and in the section “C.2” find and download the matching ME System Tools Package for your system.
(ie if ME FW version = 10.x get V10 package, if 9.0-9.1 get V9.1 package, if 9.5 or above get V9.5 package etc)
> DOWNLOAD " ME System Tools " packages HERE <

Once downloaded, inside you will find Flash Programming Tool folder, and then inside that a Windows or Win/Win32 folder (NOT x64).
Highlight that Win/Win32 folder, then hold shift and press right click. Choose “open command window here” (Not power shell! >> * See Registry file below *).

If you get an error, reply to this post with a screenshot of it, OR write down the EXACT command entered and the EXACT error given.

((If “open command window here” does not appear, look for the “Simple Registry Edit” below…))

Step #1

Now you should be at the command prompt.
You are going to BACKUP the factory un-modified firmware, so type the following command:
Command: " FPTw.exe -bios -d biosreg.bin "

>> Attach the saved "biosreg.bin ", placed into a compressed ZIP/RAR file, to your next post!!! <<

Step #2

Right after you do that, try to write back the BIOS Region dump and see if you get any error(s).
Command: " FPTw.exe -bios -f biosreg.bin "
^^ This step is important! Don’t forget! ^^

If you get an error, reply to this post with a screenshot of it, OR write down the EXACT command entered and the EXACT error given.

Here is a SIMPLE REGISTRY EDIT that adds “Open command window here as Administrator” to the right click menu, instead of Power Shell
Double-click downloaded file to install. Reboot after install may be required
> CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD CMD PROMPT REGISTRY ENTRY <

If the windows method above does NOT work for you…
Then you may have to copy all contents from the Flash Programming Tool \ DOS folder to the root of a Bootable USB disk and do the dump from DOS
( DOS command: " FPT.exe -bios -d biosreg.bin " )

Hey @Lost_N_BIOS
Thank you for the guide to throttle stop. Its a really useful tool to tweak your cpu, have been playin around with it since a year now.

See this is one of the issue i am trying to solve.

i have extracted those files again because the tpm was enabled in bios. the new files are attached here.
i was a little confused so right now i have just attached the new vars file that u asked me to do in your first post.

should i wait for u to share the new vars file to drop in the folder and run the command or should i use the one from your last post here.
thanks

hey @Lost_N_BIOS
are you sending me new varsm file to drop in h20uve folder?
or should i use the one u shared before i had tpm enabled in my bios?
thanks

Hey @Lost_N_BIOS
I am still not clear that should i wait for u to send me the new vars ?
Thank you

bro @Lost_N_BIOS ?

@siddhar1h - Sorry for the delay, and thanks for bumping thread! Drop this info H20UVE_100.00.16.08 folder and then run this command >> H2OUVE.exe -sv varsM2.txt
