@Lost_N_BIOS Still waiting hope it will come today.
I know the feeling Once you/we quit looking for it, then it will show up At least it’s not a China shipment wait
@Lost_N_BIOS I am so happy, I just received it! (It came from near Paris)
Do i have to use this drivers and software
EDIT1: What are the other things for? What can we program with this programmer beside bios chips?
EDIT2: I found this driver that is newer http://www.wch.cn/download/CH341SER_EXE.html on this website https://www.onetransistor.eu/2017/08/ch3…-schematic.html and I also find this:
OK I also find this link: On this thread:
EDIT3: I would like to have the newer version of the software (1.35) but i didn’t find it anywhere
Here is the changelog:
1.35 version 2019-2-10
Fix XICOR-X24C02 write BUG
Repair save\open HEX format BUG
Fix problems that WIN10 does not support
Increase S25FL216
Add W25Q16JV, W25Q32JV, W25Q64JV, W25Q128JV
I found it here: https://skygz.taobao.com/p/rd917882.htm
@Lost_N_BIOS So it didn’t auto detect my bios chip so I had to chose one (the EN25QH128) but i am not sure if it’s the good one here is the bin file that the software has read
I also took some pictures of the BIOS chip and my clamp setup
NVM i found this https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-W…ammer-will-work
@Kronos128 - Newer is not always better, some chips need certain versions or incorrect ID’s, or even other software instead for some chips. Here is package I always send everyone - http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fil…257455007472602
Thank you for 1.35 version, I will check it out and add to the package above eventually. Ohh, I see no link there. This software funny some are free, some are paid etc, I think latest free ones are all in the package I linked above.
Here is guide on how to use/setup - [GUIDE] Flash BIOS with CH341A programmer
https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-G…341A-programmer << Same as one directly above, but with all images expanded/visible at once
Your chip is XM25QH128AHIG / QH128AHIG as you noted - this can often be read with using other ID’s, but fails when writing back, as mentioned in the thread you linked I would dump with 1.30 and 1.34 and see if both match, then hopefully one will write back properly.
If not, you can also try ASProgrammer 1.40 and choose chip ID W25Q128FV (This chip ID requires this program to properly write, do not waste time trying CH341A software, I’ve tested them all)
https://github.com/nofeletru/UsbAsp-flash/releases/
I did also find info saying the Eon ID you mentioned above works sometimes too, we’ll know for sure when you write
Once you are ready to test that, you can try writing back your dumped BIOS - erase, blank check, open BIOS file, write/verify using ASProgrammer
Do not do this now with the above linked BIOS Backup, it’s corrupted dump. Make a new one using ASProgrammer and the ID I gave you above, then let me check it out.
@Lost_N_BIOS I did BIOS dumps with ch341 program 1.30 and 1.34 (using this id W25Q128FV) and I also did a dump with ASProgrammer 1.40 (using the same ID as previous)
I had verification error with 1.30 and 1.34 doesn’t seem to do any verification at all
Here is the link: http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fil…109433948122746
That link that I provide is the link for the genuine seller. He is apparently the one who also does the program but he gives it only to people who buy the “genuine” programmer and not the others
I wanted to buy one(0.25€) from there to have the software but I didn’t find a way to make the purchase
@Kronos128 - sorry I seem to have missed this once it came back up with your updates. Yes, for W25Q128FV you need to use ASProgrammer. I thought you said you had QH128AHIG?
I was in the correct submodule, and had those edits marked out to try next once you were ready too
Only 3 bytes changed
@Lost_N_BIOS Hello, it’s been a long time since I have written something on this forum, let’s change that
I didn’t want to start a new topic just for this…
I have a little problem and some questions:
1) I cannot change the PL1 to 56.250W and PL2 to 70W in the modded BIOS. I mean it doesn’t do anything no matter the value. It should work since in the software of the Acer predator helios 500 with the same CPU it can be changed with these values.
2) I was also wondering if it is a good thing to update the Intel ME FW and do I lose anything if doing that like let’s say encryption.
3) I saw something about modding the vBios to remove power limit of the GPU instead of doing the shunt mod. Can this be done? If yes what hardware do I need?
[EDIT]: What is GOP driver in bios should/can it be updated or it doesn’t matter?
Info: Acer Aspire A717-72G
Intel® Core™ i7-8750H CPU
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (GP106)
@Lost_N_BIOS I found this for modding the GPU vBIOS since my laptop has basically the same components as a helios 300 but I don’t know how it’s done.
Hi,
I’m on the same situation to the OP. The only version that detected the QH128AHIG is CH341 1.38 (it saw the vendor (XMC), size (128Mb), page size (256), not the name, just can be dropped down at QH128B). Problem with writing back the BIOS as all variables then changed.
May I know if there’s update on the software you’re changing?
@ndthtnt Do you already have your Bios backup and your Modded Bios? If so you need to use ASProgrammer and not CH341A software. Careful never flash someone else Bios or skip any step. You should really open a new thread so @Lost_N_BIOS can help you.
Thank you for replying back,
I have just managed to fix it with NeoProgrammer 2.1.0.19 after lots of other version trials. Seem this version of Neo and 1.38 version of Ch341 programmer could detect the xmc xm25qh128ahig, but the Neo could manage the writing back.
Thank you. Wish you a nice day. Also hope Lost_N_BIOS being good as he’s offline for a month…
@ndthtnt I am not sure about the success of those two. But what I have used and know to work is ASProgrammer (link) for read and write. Don’t forget to erase the chip every time before flashing. May I also ask why you doing this mod?
Yes, Lost_N_BIOS, didn’t reply to a topic since January 2021 I just saw, hopefully he is doing well.
