Hi guys,
I also got a P9X79 plain and I’m gonna try my first modded bios flashing.
@Lost_N_BIOS Is there any version including the pci express bifurcation and NVMe support for the P9X79 plain ?
EDIT : found it in the post #98, you provided a link with bifurcation included. My mistake
With an ASUS m2 hyper adapter (4 NVMe maximum) is it possible to make a Windows RAID with the NVMe installed on the Adapter ?
Regards,
Chris
Hi, unable to flash with the file from post#2 p9x79.zip–>p9x79.cap, using Asus EZ Flash utility from the bios. When it read the file, it reject with "security verification failed" error. I tried flashing from bios 4701 and 4801, same result. I try pushing the bios ( the .cap file on a usb stick - either fat32 or ntfs) with the flash botton being the mobo, on flash then it stall, no update at all. Please share a new file or tell new guideline to install the bios to support booting with NVMe SSD on a Pcie x4 raiser. Thanks for you help
The use of CAP MOD bios files always fails under EZ due to to be a mod and the original bios was modified.
The easiest and most secure to flash the MOD is by the Asus USB BFB feature, so get a working USB drive, sometimes is needed to do a full CMOS reset and/or disconnect additional devices.
Test with the original CAP until u get a working USB, then flash the mod.
Just read previous post and ull find that ur not the only one that encountered this issue and as u can see no miracle was provided, so take the guidance from past users experiences.
@Lost_N_BIOS : The Link of the Bios 4701 for p9x79 nvme boot support in #98 is broken. Can you re-upload it? Vielen Dank
@mikehue
Lost has been away since January, his private links cant be recovered.
Latest bios is 4801 beta, witch version u want the mod?
EDIT: Ok then 4701… ill post it in a while.
EDIT: Here u go, 4701 NVMe mod.
EDIT: Use Tor browser or VPN, its ur country restrictions.

Thank you very much Hancor!
I’ve bought a new NVME SSD and thanks to your BIOS, it works like a charm!
I see in the bios the 8x slot has the x4x4 option. Anyone try that slot to use 2 NVMe drives ?
I am thinking about a card like this

Custom Bios Flashing P9X79,
I changed the name of the custom bios to a stock bios cap name. Used a 2 GB Fat 32 formatted drive, inserted the drive in the lower USB next to the bios button. Then, I turned off the computer and push the bios button till the light started blinking. If that does not work unplug the power supply and try the same.
Yes, that the method for flashing the mod, using Asus Bios Flash Back function when the motherboard model has it. Nothing new… and its stated here: [Guide] How to flash a modded AMI UEFI BIOS
Hi
I know this is an old tread but I would like to use my Asus_P9X79_LE With an NVMe boot drive if possible. My current configuration is a i7 4960k, 32 GB RAM & an Nvidia GeForce 710. I would kie to use it with a legit version of Windows server 2016 in a home lab. I would like a 4 tb NVMe drive if Possible. I don’t know if the BIOS above works with my variant & don’t want to learn the hard way. I would appreciate any info on this and adapter compatibility. I don’t know much about this and any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Berg
Hi Any chance this could be modified for a P9X79_LE I would be most greatfull
Berg
Bios flashed, can see the ps option…
however when I try to do a fresh install no matter what options I choose it freezes… any ideas? I can access the drive under my normal windows install on a ssd.

[HowTo] Get full NVMe Support for all Systems with an AMI UEFI BIOS - Special Topics / NVMe Support for old Systems - Win-Raid Forum (level1techs.com)
Point#4 for OS installation, nevertheless the guide should be read in full to understand whats behind the mod and procedures for testing/settings.
I successfully Flash my BIOS with the two modded ones available on this post:
So I thought OK I can try this out and bought an EVO 970 PLUS plugged in a 1x slot SABRENT PCIe interface
Thanks to @shawn I’ve decided to migrate my existing Win7 OS from MBR to GPT
So I did install the Windows6.1-KB2990941-x64.msu to see the MVMe in Win7 + cloned my system with AOMEI BackUp with option convert MBR to GPT
At BIOS boot menu I was able see the EVO 970 PLUS but without being able to reboot on it:
Eventually I used AOMEI Partition Assistant Pro to convert my SATA system from MBR to GPT with the intention of cloning after reboot.
But I can not reboot anymore
I must have miss something…
Thanks for your help!
Hi Hancor,
I am using your modded BIOS with a windows 7 system installed on a SATA drive. I did convert the SATA drive from MBR to GPT with AOMEI (Windows PE) and then I have cloned it to an NVMe drive installed on the last PCIe port of my P9X79 board.
I’ve followed you advise on disabling CSM in BIOS but I do not manage to boot on the "Windows Boot Manager (Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 2TB S4J4N)
I have the same result when I am activating CSM and set “Boot from PCI-E/PCI Expansion Devices” to UEFI
Would you have any tip to help me progress on this?
Thxs!
