Can anyone please send a modified version of the 316 BIOS with CSM & XMP unlocked? I need to do so in order to get my FA506IU (R9 4900H+1660Ti) to boot a DOS USB, which in turn is needed for a chance of flashing a modified vBIOS. Thanks in advance!!!

PS: Here is the link to download the BIOS : dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/GamingNB/FA506IU/FA506IUAS316.zip

Hi friend,
use this tool run it as Admin and upload the result file :

https://www.mediafire.com/file/4s2lp3ig8…ools20h.7z/file

let me know
Regards

Doesn’t work. I’m on Windows 10 21H1. Looking for solution rn.

I am too on 21H1 and it works … may be antivirus , you need to run it as Admin …

@BDMaster , do you really think this will work? This is very important because I have witnessed similar situations when I made mods for other devices, as you can see. But it so happened that for some users the backup tools do not work, and even fptw, launched selectively, gives error 64 (I can send a screenshot). To get a mod they realized that they have to buy a programmer.
Perhaps backup tools will work if you boot from a Windows LiveCD. Or will need to use FPT in dos.

It keeps failing on some "14 - Error : Non-critical block does not match the system" or something like that

@Allen94 yes i know that’s not possible , you can use the AFUwin to make a bios backup , ust this tool and execute this command , then upload the file :

http://dl.duckteam.org/mods/NVMe_UEFI_MOD/NVMe_UEFI_MOD.zip

AFUWINX64.exe Extracted.rom / O

@Sweet_Kitten yes also i read about in many threads, but i use the tool to get informations and backup, if there is an Intel CPU we can get a backup, it depends
on many factors too, but it works at 90% of cases, then if there is an AMD CPU , the result file is empty and i will ask about a backup by AFUwin.
Then there are the reflashing issues and when isn’t possible to do by tools , it needs the SPI PGM.
I am happy that you can help me and i with gratitude all your suggests and examples, i have been away from bios mod for a long time and I need time
and experiments to make up the gap, so you are welcome and i wrote many time that for me you the testimonial heir of Donovan6k, the best modder currently
and frien of mine !
Many thanks if you will share with me your experiences …
Regards

My laptop has an AMD R9 4900H for the CPU …

And the link isn’t working … (fixed)

Where should I upload the ROM to?

Use mediafire, com server … and post it here !

Hi friend,
we can try this way too :

You have to download the Annex Method aka FlashROM utiltity and make a bios backup :

[Guide] How to flash a modded AMI UEFI BIOS

https://www.mediafire.com/file/egi0744gh…lities.rar/file

[Guide] How to flash a modded AMI UEFI BIOS

[Guide] How to flash a modded AMI UEFI BIOS (42)

Then booted form USB Stick run this command :

flashrom -p internal -r BACKUP.ROM

hit the “Enter” key and wait until the process has been finished.

Then upload the fiile here …
let me know
Regards

I can’t get into the FreeDOS USB

Hi friend, so You need an SPI Programmer CH341a + Pomona Clip to reflash the bios mod :frowning: , i’m sorry …
You can buy them as are cheapers and then we can go on

Or is there a way of directly flashing my dGPU with a modded vBIOS without going to all this trouble? My ultimate goal is just to get the max TGP to 100~105W with defaults 5~10W lower…

(PS: It’s on the Turing Architecture, so … IDK.)

(PPS: I can’t do any soldering, for I don’t have the tools)

I don’t know your vCard, but the latest ones have all RSA Cryptes bios , so it isn’t possible to change any byte without to resign it …
So you have to check the vBios on it, rty to read / extract it and read by the tools you can find onlline, if that will be opened then all is possible, but
if not then i am sorry :frowning:
