Enable PCIe bifurcation on the Maximus X Hero (Non WIFI) board.
For use with: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards-Compon…-2-X16-CARD-V2/
PCIe bifurcation is available on the Maximus X Hero (WIFI AC) board but not on the Non WIFI variant.
Would it be possible to get a BIOS mod that adds support for bifurcation to the non WIFI board?
If needed, I know how to flash a bios using BIOS flashback on the mobo.
Thanks in advance.
Ur motherboard is on the list of supported https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1037507
ROG MAXIMUS X APEX, ROG MAXIMUS X CODE, ROG MAXIMUS X FORMULA, ROG MAXIMUS X HERO, ROG MAXIMUS X HERO (WI-FI AC)
And this is not quite a matter of WiFi model or not, its the design/chipset and most important the CPU used (Due to lanes available), but in general they are the same in boths models.
True, but there’s no option in the BIOS to enable it.
In fact, my motherboard is not in the “table list” of supported motherboards (if you scroll all the way down to the section with the tables).
If it helps, my CPU is i7-8700K
Thanks.
No sry, its in the top and in the table, and ur cpu has 16 lanes, anything else ask Asus…where did u saw that there is an item in Bios for that.
EDIT: Sry my mistake, even so its an Z370 and MAXIMUS X… better ask confirmation to Asus before any thoughts on mods… if even possible to do it.
Good luck
Umm, that’s Maximus X Code, not Hero
Maximus X Hero (WIFI) : https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-ma…el/helpdesk_cpu
My Motherboard: Maximus X Hero (NON WIFI): https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-ma…el/helpdesk_cpu
Please see page 9 of Maximus X Hero (Wifi AC)'s manual
https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LG…C_UM_V2_WEB.pdf
Under Expansion Slots, 2 x PCIe 3.0 x16 slots and footnote 1.
It clearly states that it supports x4 + x4 mode.
On the other hand, please see page 9 of my motherboard, ROG MAXIMUS X HERO (NON WIFI)'s manual
https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LG…O_UM_V2_WEB.pdf
Even though the 2 boards are virtually the same, the Non-WIFI motherboard lacks the 4x + 4x mode
Is it possible to mod the BIOS to allow this mode?
Thanks.
I asked them before, in fact, my motherboard used to be in the tables,
but after many months of emails they removed my motherboard from the list…
Thats why I feel that the only hope left is to mod the BIOS.
There’s 2 threads here in a X79 witch can give u an ideia of some steps:
[GUIDE] Adding Bifurcation Support to ASUS X79 UEFI BIOS
[Guide] - How to Bifurcate a PCI-E slot
All right, thank you.
Do you know if the steps can apply to the Z370 chipset?
Yeah… this is too hard for me.
Can anyone help me to mod my bios?
I’m on BIOS version 2102 and I would love to be able to Bifurcate the 3rd PCIe slot from x8 to x4/x4
