@Lost_N_BIOS yep, any vBIOS newer than Maxwell II is encrypted breaking that encryption isn’t impossible but the effort to crack it would be monumental then you’d have the problem of unbreaking the encryption after performing any mods. Its a pain, its annoying, and fuck nvidia.
@ bunny so looking at your gpu-z’s screenshot i guess you have V2 aka RTX 2060 refresh ?
Dont call me sir iam just poor guy to help you out ?
What is the matter of your problem ?
explain it to me …
for me nvidia has done a joke with refresh 2060 …
to put in a nutshell : they gave 15-20 Watts more but they restricted the bandwith …
Sad play : on these architectures of gpu : Bandwith is the king - memory bandwith will give you massive boost in term of fps - overclocking the gpu not so … plus iam running my babe alll the time 1650 mhz min 1780 mhz on average with only (80W + 15 watts mod Acer + pci express enhancements + and modded Vbios) …
Can you confirm you cant even do this type of overclocking with 115W ?
or iam wrong …
look at my settings :
@ket - Thanks, I thought so! How is this going on though? ^^ >>
@saltinbank - how are you using modified vBIOS? What did you dump/write with, and what did you actually modify, with what tools?
asus did it this is vbios swapping from a dump of Asus Laptop high end with custom made Vbios for RTX 2060 STRIX mobile (95W TDP)
As you can see acer one Vbios minimum clock was 960 mhz and 1280 mhz max in boost mod @ 90W (turbo mode on acer’s laptop)
Asus one Vbios has 50 mhz boost from the get go : 1100 base clock and 1333 mhz @95W
Plus i have in can reach +250 Mhz on the GPU easily with my batch (my gpu is cherry picked i guess) and +1 Ghz on the GDDR6 …
Performance are between a 1070 and 1070ti …
Raytracing enabled i can beat a desktop 1080 if powerlimit dont kick in …
@Lost_N_BIOS I don’t know the details about the encryption nvidia and AMD are now using I can only say from what I’m aware they are a serious pain in the arse and slow any kind of real modding down substantially.
@saltinbank - Thanks, so your not using mod BIOS, your just using other branded matching hardware stock BIOS. Can you please post that vBIOS for @Bunny98 - or me, if it’s BIOS we put into actual BIOS.
Thanks
@ket - Ohh no!! When did AMD start doing this??
@Lost_N_BIOS i used different laptop nvidia vbios i got higher score, fps etc but the gpu crashes after like 10mins so I restore my backup (
With Vega initially, RDNA 1.0 you could sort of play with but not properly, and nothing for RDNA 2.0 yet. Not sure exactly how AMD has changed things but stuff is locked down. You can still get at the memory timings but even they are encoded so a tool is needed to encode/decode them which there has been mention of, but nothing actually released yet AFAIK.
@Bunny yes you can and you should try to max it out …
download MSI AB and overclock the memory try + 225 mhz and go for 25 mhz increment when you reached the max, Driver will BSOD or Freeze, then wait for driver to restart or restart your LAPTOP, plus dont overclock too much the memory because of ECC (memory error correction) you will loose some performance you have to find the best threshold (3d mark bencharking and Uniengine Heaven will do the work) …
@Lost if you want but the TDP is 90W without turbo (80 an all Vbios) …
The fact i can reach 95W TDP with turbo mode (90W with acer one).
V1 Vbios dont work on RTX 2060 refresh BTW : not the same chip (Memory Vram isnt the same) …
Link of Vbios is on the topic do a search …

bro i have the exact model like yours but with updated bios please help me out to unlock advanced menu
Is there any other way other than these programing chip for unlocking just the cpu frequency option of advanced menu like AMIBCP

@saltinbank
I’m planning about modding my RTX2060 to a RTX2070. Both VGA uses the same TU106 GPU, so the Tensors Core, Rt Cores, shaders and others stuffs are limited by the BIOS on each VGA (i think). I know the RTX2070 has 8GB of vram, i’m planning to upgrade it too (buying more chips from internet and soldering on the board)
Look at this vbios, it has the same output ports and the specs seams to be the same:
https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/215347/215347
Do you think it’s possible to do this?
Hey @Lost_N_BIOS fine bro? I’m here trying to brick my laptop again OMG: ahahahahahaha

Answering my OWN question, tryied last night and gave me the GPU mismatch:

I think only with the programer i can do this and i don’t know if i do this the machine can boot after the processes…
Nice! What changes did you make in order to make the options appear?
I don’t think I need a comprehensive guide, just a point in the right direction.
sorry for late answering but yeah seems odd plus look deeply to the specs (Vram, voltages) because they differ also you need beefier PSU and VRM must handle tha workload : but yeah locked vbios are doing the magic trick for nvidia to segment the product line …
My self keep wanting a full Vbios to overclocking and i think we can even beat the new RTX3060 mobile with decent overclock …
How were you able to take the dump and get the bios modded from the chip? I have the CH341A Programmer and today I tried to connect it multiple times but every time the flashrom program was not able to detect the chip.
