Just updated my BIOS to newer v1.27 ( Had issues with setting Vcore+ setting , but acer just released a new bios with this fix)
the issue comes when using vars.txt - here’s the file (first I flashed the new bios - created a new vars1.27.txt - edited it for FPRR unlock - flashed it) my laptop won’t start then , I only edited the FPRR variable . - http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?fil…933321021087251
I then unlocked all the advanced , power , overclocking at the bios level , so FPT flashing is not available .
Can you help unlock FPRR, bios lock at the bios level ?
Also can you Fix my FD too as this is the new bios .

@mesh17 - so, is it bricked, or not? It’s not clear what you mean, after you said you edited and reflashed mod vars it wouldn’t start, so this means bricked or you recovered it?

I have the very same laptop as OP, an Acer Nitro 7 AN715-51.
I am currently on latest manufacture provided BIOS 1.29, originally had lower version but I had updated on the hope I would get more options.
So which file can I use and how to flash, please guide me once as I am new to unofficial BIOS but have flashed many Android phones.

Current Bios version - 1.29 .
System Manufacturer: Acer
System Model: Nitro AN715-51
Processor: Intel(R) Core™ i5-9300H CPU @ 2.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Card name: UHD630 + NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
Most of the options are hidden and/or locked in the new Bios.
Online search reveals possibility of my BIOS containing overclocking, power tweaking and other menus and unlocking the option to boot in legacy mode, as I cannot install the specific Ubuntu I need to without that.

Since our BIOS Guru Lost_N_BIOS hasn’t been online for a long time, you may not get personal support from him. So you may have to wait for someone else (I am no expert regarding this sort of BIOS modding).

Hi Fernando. I had created a fresh thread hoping someone else would reply in the case that Lost N BIOS was attending to other parts of life. I am no longer able to locate that thread.

It doesn’t make sense to start a new thread, when a thread about the same topic already exists. You seem to believe, that there are a lot of BIOS modding experts here, who are reading each day all freshly created “BIOS Modding Request” threads and are going to help urgently. The truth is, that only our Forum member Lost_N_BIOS belongs to that kind of Forum members, but he is absent since several months.
In this case I recommend to tag the Forum member mesh17, who got already much help from Lost_N_BIOS within this thread (or send him/her a PM). Maybe he/she can help you much better than anyone else.

I am not sure if all work here is paid or not, but I had posted here unaware of that fact and I have been broke and out of a job since almost an year so as bad as it sounds I might not be able to compensate you monetarily for the help you’ll provide.

I am looking for the following changes made to the BIOS -
1. 2nd Advanced tab (1 is already there, but as per many videos online for same BIOS, it contains another tab with same name)
2. Power tab
3. Legacy Boot Mode option
4. Option to Toggle Intel RST modes [Disabled / RST premium with optane / RST standard etc]

So i want to know if you used before the Backup_Tool and then the H2OUVE tool or revese first H2OUVE and then Backup_Tool ?
But it seems that UVE cannot unlock the FPRR variable and the flash is benn done by the Programmer CH341a :

Lost_N_BIOS gave a spi.bin file so it’s a Firmware full to try by FPT , but by Ch341a too so i imagine that it’s made by the Programmer.

I have got experiences about this issue on different Nitro or Predator too and only the CH341a with a clip saved the goal !

@Sweet_Kitten I understand and I’m sure, I was just being informative about what happened at my end. Also, I would be glad if you would also take a look and help us sort this out, as @BDMaster has so understandingly stated.
In your case, I used the backup tool first then you recommended to write varsmod so I did that, and then used the backup tool again.
Originally when I first posted in this thread, I used the backup tool first.
Then someone told me in DM that in my case vars.txt would also be required and gave me a dos command to extract it with help of H2OUVE.
Also, so far the BIOS is stock, I have only flashed the regular BIOS updates available on Acer’s website, not using any kind of flash programmer. Or maybe I did not understand your statement correctly.
Please forgive me for being an utter noob at this. Would request you to detail the instructions, as to what I should be doing next.

So if I understand you and Lost_N_BIOS correctly, this MOD is really difficult if I cant use flash programmer to backup and flash BIOS chip?
And what is RU shell?
