BIOS can disable the Wi-Fi cards.
C8E also can work on win7，also can disable the Wi-Fi card in bios.

Hi Canonkong, Crosshair VIII Extreme runs Windows 7 is an amazing news. But it has ALC4082 chip. That has drivers for Windows 7, I didn’t expect that. Also please note ALC4000 series has some issues too from the internet posts specifically around that new USB Audio ALC RealTek chip. Igor’s Lab also noted it. Also upon checking the Windows 7 drivers for this ALC4082 I found ASUS forums, problems associated with the drivers, the worst one can imagine with the 408x. The boards with these have top notch ESS DACs and Nichicon Capacitors with Impedance sensing circuitry but without the ASUS Sonic bloatware (UWP / Appx) the drivers will have lag during and there’s no fix apparently except installing the OEM bloatware pack.


Plus Crosshair VIII Extreme also has Marvell AQtion AQC133CS 10Gbe LAN which is the latest PCIe based Ethernet controller and apparently unlike AQC107 10Gbe and other series based on 3.0 this is 4.0 and doesn’t have a Windows 7 compat from it’s spec sheet.

Crosshair VIII Extreme has 2xThunderbolt 4 ports, and the Marvell AQtion AQC113CS 10G LAN and ALC4082 upon checking the 10G LAN controller 113CS used in there from official Marvell doesn’t have the Windows 7 support, Upon checking Station drivers up until AQC107 they have Windows 7 drivers. So is it safe to assume Soundcard, LAN (10G only, as the other 2.5G is Intel 225V which can work with 7), TB4 on that board won’t have Windows 7 drivers ? (A massive bummer as Extreme board is full feature packed)

Just wanted to think over the Crosshair VIII Dark Hero (which works 100% with Windows 7) vs Extreme for AMD as the X570S is probably used on that Extreme and maybe a new stepping of the Chipset silicon. Really torn on deciding the platform and boards because of USB drop out and WHEA. Also Dark Hero 2nd PCIe slot cannot be used if we have a Triple slot GPU.

Edit - MSI X570S ACE MAX (Another great mobo with flexible PCIe options and ton of SATA ports) also has the same USB ALC4082, I think from now on we will only get this Audio chipset. I checked the driver, it only have Windows 10 support. Anyone has any experience with this Audio chip working on Win7.

Sorry I do not have any personal experience but just what I read online. I could be wrong in these as you may know more.

Edit 2 - ASUS released a beta BIOS for Z590 Apex XIII i think it enabled Windows 7 and XP support. Here’s the info from Hwbot
