Enable CSM or try UEFISeven
Thanks. A mixture of a custom ISO I made and completing the first stage of the install in a VM from Windows 10 and CSM got it installed Only downside is I have to turn off CSM to boot macOS on the system xD
I posted on this thread earlier in the year, but never got around to installing an OS (Windows 7) on the system yet. I have an X370 board and a X470 board but I recently got a B550 Taichi and this is very disappointing news that they have done this on a hardware/BIOS level. I am referring to #361. Early versions of the BIOS worked, but the ones with Zen 3 support now seem to block Windows 7 at the hardware level. At least for the 64 bit version, as the 32 bit version seems ok but this is a problem as modern systems need 64 bit. I am now questioning whether or not I want to keep this board.
Before attacking this Windows 7 thing, I wanted to wait for Zen 3, knowing the release was coming soonā¦ and now Iām wondering about everything. I donāt mind putting in the time to learn or trial and erroring over weeks or months but there has to be a way to get it working (in the end) otherwise itās not worth it. I would rather invest my time into how to modify Windows 10 or use some other option.
Thanks so much to this forum and the users here for making the information flow and keeping these options open. Especially to canonkong for the work he has done on the drivers. During my adventure of the next few months I will share any methods I learn that can help. Or any info that can help others that I find with Zen 3 + B550 or Zen 3 + X570.
Does anyone know if this is all X570 or B550 boards that are having problems with Windows 7 or if itās just Asrock doing this? Is it the AGESA code itself, or the board makers doing their own changes to the BIOS itself? Is it best to use B450 or X470 or are there still people out there getting X570 or B550 getting this to work? Itās getting harder and harder to find information about this stuff. But I will keep searching and reading around.
Iāve only just learned about UefiSeven today, so I have a lot of reading to do. But do you know if this method works for AM4 Ryzen systems? Iāve done a little reading so far and it seems like it was based around UEFI Class 3 systems like Intel Laptops that no longer have legacy support. It seems to work well for this application. But I saw some complaints that for Ryzen systems it doesnāt work. Does anyone have any links they could share for success stories when using UefiSeven?

I think itās just asrock, because canonkong has b450 from asus and seems even latest asus x570 dark hero working with windows 7, as i saw a CPUz Screenshot and video by extreme OC Elmor

I already wrote a mail to asrock support, but bacause now i have an 5000 series cpu (ryzen 3000 sold) and x570, they wont do anything, bacause it was not tested and is not officially supported.
They also wrote because of canonkongs Screenshot that b450 is still sopported by amd for Windows 7.
Thats why i wonder if asrock b450 boards with ryzen 3000 and later bioses are working too or not. Because for b450 amd has still windows 7 Chipset drivers.
Bacause there are only a few user with windows 7 and ryzen 3000, its hard to verify wich boards or BIOS versions are working.
Maybe if more users would write to asrock support they would look at it.
I just wrote to german support.
Its really disappointing if asrock would be the only board manufacturer that does not work with windows 7, even if i still did not see msi or gigabyte users with windows 7
I bought one of these cards in advance for any installation problems, but so far I havenāt tested it with Ryzen systems. I also bought PS/2 PCIE card.
I havenāt tested the USB2.0 card yet.
I did test the PS/2 card with my older Intel system and it wouldnāt work in the BIOS. But it did work in Windows 7 without requiring any drivers. So what I think might workā¦ is using regular USB keyboard to change settings in the BIOS. Then turn PC off and plug in PS/2 keyboard and turn PC on. Assuming Windows launcher works, or Windows is already installed, I think this card could work for those systems that donāt have keyboard or mouse inputs. You could use this card with a PS/2 keyboard to install chipset drivers or USB drivers. New drivers might mean this method is no longer required but I bought this card early in the year. I like the idea of having many different ways to try and solve the problems.
I have no experiences yet with USB stick installation or USB2.0 PCIE card, but if I doā¦ I will report my experiences.

Yes, this is extremely disappointing from Asrock.
The only good news I have from today is that the Dark Hero works, except that itās expensive and out of stock. At least itās possible that there is a way.
I will keep digging around and searching as much as possible. I will contact Asrock. The B550 Taichi was my favourite board because it has no chipset fan but 8 SATA ports and PCIE4.0. If they wonāt allow Windows 7 (when every other board maker does) then I need to sell it or return it and and go with the Dark Hero. I will contact them and tell them this. I might not use Windows 7 for everything in the future, but I at least need the option for dual boot with Windows 7 and something else.
Wish me luck, iām going to install a 3950X with my current install of Win7 Enterprise on a CH7.
Done. Couldnāt use the latest AGESA 1.1.0.0 BIOS though, it gives me BSoD 0x5A on boot due to incompatible acpi.sys so I had to downgrade to 1.0.0.6.
Thatās the thing: itās unavailable outside of some Chinese sekrit klub. Unless canonkong wants to be really generous and give it out to the general public it seems iām stuck on AGESA 1006.
Based. Do I just drop it into System32 and then upgrade to AGESA 1.1.0.0?
And just as proof, hereās a 3950X running perfectly on a existing Win7 Enterprise install that used a Ryzen 2600:

Getting rather low scores in CBR20 thoughā¦ 9069 with PBO.

C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\acpi.inf_amd64_57bed52c25b43614 <- yours might be different doublecheck for that
Trouble. Windows is now complaining that it canāt verify the digital signature for that file.
press F8 at boot and disable driver signing
Still giving me BSoDs, wat do?
Well that seems to have broken my entire Windows install, I tried replacing acpi.sys in every folder I came across. Restored a vanilla acpi.sys in all four folders, flashed the AGESA 1006 BIOS, and now iām back. What folders should I put in acpi.sys in?
EDIT: Something strangeā¦ I get a 0x07b BSOD when using the modded acpi.sys in system32/drivers?
@User32
I think you might need to integrate acpi.sys into a windows7 ISO and do a fresh install.
@canonkong
do you have a signed version of your acpi.sys?
