I have a Ryzen 5800X and a Gigabyte B550 Aorus PRO V2 motherboard (AGESA 1.2.0.2). I have installed Windows 7, everything works fine. However, there is no CPU information in the device manager. Do I still need to install any drivers?
@Aktyzm Is/are the CPU entry/entries missing since the beginning where you had not installed an additional drivers ?
I had USB drivers integrated with iso image. Information about CPU was not available immediately after installation.
@Alex9999 Hi! I would be glad to share my experience of using Win7 on MSI TRX40 pro Wi-Fi, but i donāt use this combo now. Anyway, i had no problems with usb devices (keyboard and mice worked fine). Sadly, but microfreezes and not worked sound didnt let me to use Win7.
@FlyToha thx for responding, I am going to try alsoā¦if it works fine, otherwise its Win 10 LTSC. Donāt need sound for my use but microfreezes are bad.
@infuscomus @FlyToha @bloodhand Ended up installing Windows 8.1 Pro on the TRX40. To be honest, it seems really stable, and installation was painless. With Start8 menu, looks like Windows 7 for the most part. There were a few missing drivers for which I was able to use @canonkong 's Win 7 mod drivers (chipset ones). The MSI TRX40 is a preferred motherboard because it doesnāt have too many integrated options (can use older add-in PCIE cards which have official drivers). Thanks everyone.
I needed this box to process my lunar high resolution images, on my older PC (4 core i3 10100, 32gb RAM), the processing could take up to 24 hours (8000 to 10000 images of 80 MB each). So with the Threadripper 24 core, Iām eager to find out what the improvement is. The earlier PC was CPU constrained.
@PatrickK I tried a few more ISOs, I had the most āsuccessā with deWin7x64_Pro_SP2.10. USB mouse, keyboard and the nvme drive all worked in the installer without needing to load drivers, nice! - unfortunately the usb mouse+kb stopped working after windows was installed and the usual bad pci+usb+network adapter driver alerts in device manager were present. Surprisingly the english version of that ISO (enWin7x64_Pro_SP2.10) was not able to install at all, nvme was not found, even after manually loading samsung drivers that work on all the other isos.
Thanks.
Edit: WOW I installed EN_WIN7_x64_2002_FOR_AMD_RYZEN.ESD uploaded by @canonkong and everything works now! Well everything except the on-board intel wifi and bluetooth but Iāve given up on those. PCI and USB errors gone!
Edit2: The @canonkong image is win7 ultimate- the usual activation methods donāt seem to work. Dang.
Canonkong donāt mention about micro-freezes problem.
Do you run into the same issues as FlyToha?
The micro-freezing problem also happens in XP too. I believe the problem resides in the HAL and how it handles the timers.
@diderius6
do you remember the name of the tool you used to see if there is a HAL timer problem with the system?
@diderius6
Thanks
@Alex9999
run this on windows 7 and post a screenshot whilst itās running.

@infuscomus No, I couldnāt install Win 7 because of the mouse and KB not working once the splash screen loaded.
@Alex9999
Oh sorry, I thought youād successfully installed windows7 with canonkongās ESD image, my mistake.
Iām thinking about trying to install Windows 7, using Canonkongās modded drivers, on an X570 chipset motherboard; Asus Crosshair VIII Dark Hero.
Buying a PS/2 to PCI-Express card, might be useful, in case USB isnāt available during the install process.
Aliexpress.com has at least three variants:
SE-U2M9990A-P2
MCS9990CV
IOCREST
Can anybody tell which one is best suited for the task?

@zuul
I think we donāt need to buy those cards, use an usbdisk to make a PE system in or use wintogo to run dism++ or winNTsetup to install the system and add driver in.
Ok, Canonkong, thanks for the advice.
What is your opinion about the new upcoming X570S (notice the S) motherboards? And also possibly Zen 6000 CPUs, both coming in late 2021?
https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/registā¦therboards.html
Will your modded drivers work with those too? If they wonāt work, Do you plan to make new modded drivers for those X570S / Zen 3+?
@zuul
These boards will likely still have USB 3 ports, which Canonkongs driver will still work with.
So yes, these boards should work fine.
@zuul
I think it still support, if the mainboards still have csm funtion. I will modify the drivers to keep support.
