AMD RZ068 WI-FI6 (MT7921) test.
[[File:QQ??20210710075540.png|none|fullsize]]
Greetings!
First off, I want to say thank you to everyone who has contributed to this (modifying, testing, reporting, etc).
I am having no luck getting Windows 7 Ultimate to install on my new machine that I just built so far.
Motherboard: ASRock x570 Steel Legend
Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
RAM: 2x8GB (16GB) Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200MHz
Video Card: Biostar AMD Radeon RX 550 4GB
Sound Card: Creative Sound Blaster AE-9
NVMe M.2 SSD: Samsung 970 EVO 500GB
Hard Drive: Western Digital Black 2TB
Optical 1: LG 16x Blu-Ray Burner
Optical 2: DVD-RW drive (with Lightscribe capability)
Every time I try to boot off of the flash drive, it gets a little bit into the the Windows Logo animation and then it BSODs:
0x0000007E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFF880009A8F08, 0xFFFFF880009A8760)
Doing a quick search online and looking at a previous post in this thread, it suggests it might be a storage driver related issue.
I used NTLite to slipstream the Microsoft NVMe updates and canonkingās drivers (which also included the Samsung NVMe driver if I remember correctly) and I used Rufus to flash it to a flash drive (used MBR instead of GPT).
I tried all of front USB ports (2 USB 2.0 ports and 2 USB 3.0 ports) and one of the back USB 3.2 Gen2 ports. No luck at all with any of them.
I do have some blank DVDs lying around so if a disc-based install is recommended instead, that is no big deal (I still use optical media a lot, haha).
I have CSM enabled and my BIOS revision is P3.50.
I should also note that I plan to install Linux Mint afterwards in a dual-boot configuration. I want to install both Windows 7 and Mint to my Samsung NVMe SSD.
I know one user in this thread has had luck with the ASRock x570 Steel Legend. So far, I love this motherboard so I really hope I donāt have to sell it to a friend or someone else and go with another motherboard instead.
Any help would be gladly appreciated! Once again, thank you!
@StormSpotterJohn : I had the same Mainboard as you, together with R5 2600 CPU. Worked fine with Win7. I recently swapped the processor for a 5600X. And OS just crash after Windows Logo. I tried out different uefi versions, no way. It seems like canonkong already sad, Asrock doesnt work.
Tested MSI B450 Tomahawk Max and MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk. Both work fine with Win7+5600X and Drivers from canonkong!
@Mr_Nobody : Thanks for the reply! Iāll take a look at those MSI motherboards and go from there. Funny how the Ryzen 5 2600 works with Windows 7 & Asrock but not the Ryzen 5 3600. Go figure, I guess.
Iāll report back if it all goes well and/or if I have any more questions.
I have the same motherboard and CPU as yours, but I installed win7 successfully and used it normally. Your problem is that you did not choose the correct BIOS version. This motherboard only has BIOS version 2.60 and below to support the installation of win7! Now I switched to a 5600x CPU, but I canāt go back to version 2.60 (because Vermeer CPU is not supported). I canāt install win7 after trying many ways. I am also very upset. I specially registered an account in order to answer your question. I hope I can help you! wish you success!

@cityhopper : Thank you so much!!! I was about ready to either return the motherboard or sell it to a friend and go with the MSI MAG Tomahawk B550. I will definitely give re-flashing to BIOS revision 2.60 a shot. I took my Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 ISO that I had and slip-streamed the security-only updates, the Samsung NVME driver, and the modded Ryzen USB driver (I canāt remember which one of the top of my head).
Hi everyone.
I am having a problem with the latest drivers. I have tried both the links provided (one is the B7, the other the B9), and both of them seem to give me random BSODās which indicates a problem with those drivers. For the record, I have been using the very old B1 until now, and those were early modded drivers that didnt support X399, and I think not the 500 series chipsets either. But on my B350 + Ryzen 5 3600 combo, they worked great (no bsod).
The problem is, Easy Anti-Cheat is giving me problems, because some of those drivers are not digitally signed, so I think it falsely catches them as some kind of cheating mechanism.
It turns out, the problem driver is the amdxhci.sys. Its the driver that EAC is complaining about, so I updated it with the B7 and B9 drivers (I tried both). But even though I select the correct item on the installation (AMD USB3 Host Controller), Windows gives me a message saying that "Windows cannot verify that it is compatible with your hardware.
I looked into amdxhc.inf, and it doesnt have the required DEV_149C that the older driver (B1) had inside that .inf. The actual driver version for B1 is 2.0.0.0049, and for B7 and B9 its 2.0.0.0060. So the 2.0.0.0060 driver does NOT have the DEV_149C inside.
In the older 2.0.0.0049, I can even see that it says āDEV_149C ; Matisseā and that does indeed make it compatible with my hardware.
What do I do? All I want is a digitally signed driver compatible with my hardware, so that this damn Easy Anti-Cheat stops complaining. It wont let me launch the game without those digitally signed drivers.
Do I add the DEV_149C to the digitally signed driver? Will that work? How do I edit the text exactly?
Please help
ARE YOU KIDDING ME RIGHT NOW??
Did you just give me a link to an one-all end-all USB driver that worked immediately without issues?
No I hadnt tried it btw. I didnt even know that such a thing existed!
Can I virtually hug you? Is that ok?
Ok, I should hold back my excitement a bit, and say that I just installed those drivers without an issue, and was able to get into the game (Apex Legends). Easy Anti-Cheat doesnt complain anymore.
But I havent given it time to see if there are any BSODās yet.
The B9 Drivers (2.0.0.0060) linked in the OP here also install without issues but randomly give me BSODās.
So weāll see if the drivers from MDL are fine for my system.
I guess my question is: Why arent those drivers linked in the OP here, especially since I understand that canonkong is at least partially responsible for them? Does he not want credit for this success? LOL.
Anyway, thank you so much, at least I know that I have an alternative now.
Using those drivers right now.
Also, I wasnt sure if I am supposed to mix and match, so I replaced ALL of the old USB drivers with the ones from MDL you linked.
I will also test to see if I am getting USB 3.1 speeds, because I dont want to lose anything in terms of bandwidth.
Or am I talking nonsense? Can drivers limit the bandwidth from certain controllers?
P.S. Sorry for the long post, but this is exciting!
@infuscomus
Upon testing, I discovered that 2 of the 6 USB ports in my m/b back panel were only operating in USB 2.0 speeds (even though they are 3.1 Gen 1).
So I had to remove the drivers for 1 of the 2 hubs (In device manager) and reinstall my old one. Luckily, that one was the one that was digitally signed.
I am not 100% sure why thereās different drivers for the 2 hubs, but I suspect 1 is controlled by the Ryzen CPU and the other one by the m/b chipset?
Either way, ALL the drivers are digitally signed, and so far not a single BSOD.
Iāve been gaming for 7 hours straight, lol.
Thank you again.
P.S. Basically I mixed the 2 different drivers. 1 for each hub.
@cityhopper : I was able to flash 2.60 thankfully with no problems. I have another question though - I think the USB drivers that I slip-streamed are not working. Once setup is done loading files and I get to the setup screen, I have no USB and no way to input as I have a USB keyboard and USB mouse.
Which USB drivers did you use (the modded ASRock, AMD 1.0.0.13, or AMD 1.0.5.3)? I have the pack from canonking. Or did you have to use a PS/2 keyboard and mouse during setup? Were there any settings you had to change in the BIOS (I have CSM enabled).
Iām guessing Iām missing or forgetting something important (or I have something wrong).
Thank you for your help so far! I was literally about ready to either send the board back or sell it to someone before I learned about the earlier BIOS revision.
-------------
I ran into this problem a year ago. I used a PS/2 mouse to install the mod version of the USB driver. I used a driver package called Ryzen 3000 Serise_149C_Drivers_B3_Win7_SHA1.rar. I forgot the download address. This driver should also be made by Canonkong. You have to look at the AMD AGESA version of BIOS P2.6 first; if the version is appropriate, it is recommended to use Canonkongās latest B7 mod driver package. Keep CSM enabled and the status is UEFIļ¼My hard drive partition is GPTļ¼.
I havenāt visited this thread in quite sometime and see that canonkong has updated the driver packages, however after downloading them I no longer see the 2.0.0.49 drivers and none of the other packages seem to list 149C in their .inf files. Are any of the current driver packages on page 1 for use with the X570 chipset with Ryzen processors?
EDIT: On second look I found it in the 1.0.0.13 drivers. Are these drivers better than the 2.0.0.49 drivers?
When I installed 1.0.0.13 on my system, the USB ports didnt work, and I was just glad that it didnt affect all of them, because there are 2 hubs for my moboās built in USB ports in the back. It almost ruined my setup.
I dont have X570, I am on B350.
And it makes sense tbh, since if you open the .inf, it says "AMD Radeon USB".
Also, I saw the 149C in there as well. This is why I tried installing it. But it didnt work for some reason. Perhaps Windows chose another Device ID?
I should add that those drivers are not digitally signed, which is a problem for me.
If I were you, Iād try the drivers that infuscomus linked to in the previous page. The ones from MDL.
Thanks Morpheas,
Iāve actually been using the modified Windows 8 drivers from mydigitallife for about 8 months, but am always on the lookout for better drivers (the Windows 8 drivers allow the use of UASP whereas the .49 donāt). I appreciate the information about the 1.0.0.13 not working (which saves me from fruitlessly testing them), but Iām surprised that canonkongās download package no longer contains a working 149C driver.
hi guys i have a question i have asus crosshair VIII Hero Wi-Fi i have managed to install win 7 on with canonkong drivers-thanks mate- i also downloaded other drivers from station-drivers.com itās working fine but the audio driver is not fully installed itās lacking sonic studio 3 and sonic radar is there any way to install them on windows 7 ? i have already tried x470 audio drivers but no it said device is not supported
According to this link,
https://www.shouldiremoveit.com/Asus-Sonic-Studio-3-188975-program.aspx
Asus Sonic Studio 3 3.1.3.38259 is suppose to work with and is in use with Windows 7 so you might want to check your version. Also if you could be more specific as to which audio chipās driver didnāt install someone might be able to help you find a Windows 7 version.
