I bricked my bios by changing vram to 1024mb. I need help fixing it
I bricked the bios of my acer system
Is there any way to recover it?
I changed vram to 1024mb
I removed cmos battery but it didnt work
So do i need an orogrammer to repair bios chip?
Possibly. Symptoms? What machine?
Acer e1 571
Changing my vram to 1024 mb caused the brick
Is the machine really bricked or does it start just without screen?
Its bricked
It stopped working ever since i changed vram to 1gb
Also could anybody please help me locate the bios chip on the Q5WV1 LA-7912P REV 2.0 motherboard as i plan to flash it with a CH341A
(Q5WV1LA-7912P is motherboard of acer e1 571g and packard bell te11hc)
Yes, you need a CH341 programmer.
Dump your bricked firmware (at least 2 a 100% identical dumps with correct structure in UEFIToolNE)
Empty the NVRAM (or exchange it with a NVRAM volume from a stock bios
Flash the firmware back into the SPI chip
For recognizing the chip: Post a detailed picture of the board, both sides. Firmware may be span two SPI chips (different size possible)
I may have to delay the procedure as i have to wait for the device to arrive ill get back to you when i get the device
U36, you should also get the Compal SCH and check for EC ic if present.
Nothing like a good visual inspection and a schematic around.
Other revisions: Q32B-104HIP(U36), Q80A-100HIP(U42)
EDIT: Well its not an easy task for users unfamiliar with it this, so get prepared and start looking for the CH341A guides on the forum, SPI programming on this laptop/mainboard model…plenty of info around the web…
Is this what you are talking about?
Im new to bios flashing so i dont really understand.
Oh and how do i flash the ec? Is it a seperate chip?
The Alisaler archive contains 2 files that together build a firmware image, no EC firmware.
So when it comes to flashing the chip, what is the purpose of the ec file?
Didn’t you read?
Oh sorry i misunderstood
After a bit of reaearch, i managed to locate the bios chip. Now im waiting for the ch341a programmer to arrive
So i just got the ch341a programmer
How do i use it?
And since the firmware image in the foreign dumps we saw was distributed into files this might lead to the conclusion that one would have to read two SPI chips to get a complete firmware dump (possibly a 32MBit chip and a 1 MBit chip)
