What does it do? Error, or appear to run and then not update?
Can you dump via AFU? I’ll send you PM
AFUname.exe dump.bin /O
Can you please send me your backup? I’m still have my broken…
@mvisionpt you have to tag @Zenk77 so he gets PM/email (maybe) or send him message, in case he’s not here all the time
I send a PM, thanks for advice!
You’re welcome @mvisionpt - Did you see BIOS I posted on #40, it’s from plnewton’s dump in post #24, but I fixed ME. It failed for him, but I think that’s due to programmer/user error issues with the programmer, since he couldn’t get his working stock image programmed back in either.
It should be fine, and def safe for you to try if you have programmer, make verified backup first though and confirm via hex it’s not all FF’s, always.
Did you manage to resolve the issue?
I am having the same problem, I have tried two different dumps and tried clean me on both but still having the same problem.
The original dump won’t display
@imgaurav86 - do you have flash programmer (Hardware one, like CH341A)? If yes, try the BIOS I posted in #40
Yes I do have the proper programmer and I am flashing after de-soldering the chip off the board. I have tried that #40 bios as-well but it is still doing the same thing.
The original bios dump is corrupt and shows no display at all. So far I have tried following:
- Used ME region from old dump and tried on different bios dump. Same issue. Slow and blank screen after surface logo
- Download dump from 2 other websites and clean me using me injector. Same issue. Slow and blank screen after surface logo
- Replaced the bios region on original dump with working one. displays surface logo but same problem.
Any Ideas?
Desolder? Why didn’t you purchase SOIC8 test clip cable when you ordered programmer?
Are you sure you have same exact surface model as all these dumps you try? I think there is different versions of the same model, different boards or builds etc, and I think each BIOS version (From the 200+MB BIOS download) go with different versions of the OS installed.
Did you remove the HDD and see if it’s a HDD problem? Showing logo but that’s all, sounds like it may be stalling after that on a frozen HDD possibly. Can you enter the BIOS, or is that even possible on these?
There is an EC Chip on these, maybe your EC is corrupted? I have clean stock bin files for EC, SAM, BIOS region etc from the 200MB installer SurfacePro4_Win10_15063_1802801_0 - if you want me to upload those let me know.
@Lost_N_BIOS :

@thanhluan119 - is that on a dumped BIOS, or what? Follow cleanup guide to fix - [Guide] Clean Dumped Intel Engine (CS)ME/(CS)TXE Regions with Data Initialization
Hi i am facing the same problems
my surface pro 4 wont go past the boot screen nor would it let me go into the bios
This was caused after android x86 messed up with my bios(apparently its been happening to a lot of people)
since i am new to this not technologically challenged
can me what all would i need(hardware and software) to reflash my bios
i dont want to solder anything so plug pins would be ideal
my screen was already broken so i removed it so i can physically access the internals

@aqwas - if you cannot boot to DOS or into Windows etc, then you will need CH341A flash programmer + SOIC8 test clip ($2.50 on ebay + $3.20 on ebay, let me know if you need links)
@Lost_N_BIOS
Got both of them Should be here in a 15-20 days
What else would i need software wise and bios related files wise?
Where would i find the bios chip on the surface pro 4?
Hello!!!Please help!!!

Intel core M3
128 GB memory
thank you in advance.
Hey, I had gotten a UEFI locked system from Microsoft and I have found out about this just after the warranty expired, The problem is that I am unable to turn off the Surface UEFI password and access the boot configuration lock (thankfully I have USB #1 on boot priority) so I can still boot from it, however secure boot is turned on causing all of my Windows and Ubuntu installations to fail. I really do not want to disassemble this computer, and I can’t afford another one. PLEASE HELP
