It ended up with an Invalid Command Line Options error.

Now that all my descriptors are all unlocked I can just ‘fptw64 -f newbios.bin’ to upgrade my bios?

Hello
I solved my problem, the problem is the bridge on the two pins, my pencil line was not thick enought.
work @5GHz - 1.34v on my maximus viii hero + 16go 3866 xmp gskill ddr4

@davidm71 : Should work. Just make sure that you never flash a locked BIOS again or the locks will be back up

@PCGH_Torsten I did unlock every one of them and the fptw flash update went almost without a hitch. Had to unlock the Asus bios Lock and then fptw64 -f mybios.

Only thing is it complained that ME couldn’t be updated which is weird because I know I unlocked all my regions but it didn’t matter
because it was the same ME version… oh I think as I type this what was the problem … Reflashing of ME of same version is prohibited
I think… Didn’t matter anyhow… Upgraded to latest bios release no issues.

Thanks.

I have issue on not really popular motherboard
Acer Miz27l-sophiaz (Z270)

i want to run i3-8350K or i5-9600k is that even possible? (lets say that i will have active cooling over VRM as that will be weak point on that mobo)

here is bios dump taken via SPI reader:

Thanks

Can you guys with successful mods post screenshots of your sensor info with hwinfo, and cpuz under prime95 load and mention what vcore you have set in bios? Curious what your overclocks are like?

Thanks

anyone knows how to add extra i3 9100f & i5 9400f microcode to this tool?

hello
my bench on maximus viii hero + 8700k, 1.34v @4.9ghz. h24 @4.6 @1.21v rockstable

great mod !

Awesome job! Was wondering though what Vcore you set in bios to get 1.344v according to CPU-Z? Do you notice any discrepencies from what you set and what you get?

My 9700K will say I got 1.280 if I set 1.325v. So thinking going to have to experiment with voltage levels against stability testing because I have no idea whats my real vcore.

Thanks

z170 MSI laptop 16L13(Tornado F5), i7 8700K adaptive voltage +105 (1.370/1.415) 0 AVX offset, IA AC/DC 1/1 (0.01mOhms from hwinfo)

Thanks to:
Fernando, Revlaay, Svarmod, s.Napi, Dsanke, Mov AX, 0xDEAD, Sylar76 and all other involved that I don’t remember sorry!

in the vrm power options i’m select the level 4 for cpu vcore variation (in tweaker’s paradise) i’m set the vcore @1.36v but the real vcore is 1.344v
I can take screenshots in my bios

Safe to mix AC DC loadline values with that?

I leave on auto mode for the ac dc option, it work perfectly like that. I configure every maximus bios like that (on maximus vii hero with 4790k and maximus viii hero with 6700k). It is safe because i not have problem with this config since 2016 (4790k @5ghz) then with a 6700k (@4.8ghz) in 2018-2019 and with my 8700k now :stuck_out_tongue:

I put a lot of screenshot of my bios tomorrow !

What are the recommended steps to downgrade the ME region on an Asus Maximus VIII Formula from 11.8?

hello
use a ch341a programmer
and download the latest bios with the me was not up to date
Custom the bios with the automated tool
flash your bios, and bridge the two pins, normaly your 8700k work on your maximus 8 formula
good mod

Thanks, easy enough can’t wait to get my 9900k working on my board.

probably work good on a maximus formula but monitor the temp of the vrm because the 9900k is very energivores

possible to add i3 9100f & i5 9400f microcodes to this tool?

Main reason I bought the formula was because it has an EK waterblock on the VRMs. I have a custom loop so I’ll be good on cooling. Ended up ordering a few blank bios chips for my board(Winbond 25Q128FVIQ) and I’ll just flash them using a ch341a programmer.
