[TOOL] Easy automated Mod tool for Coffee Lake bios

How do I check that the SKU mod / hack was applied was applied correctly?

There ist no need to contact the processor pads.
SKTOCC mod is for the mainboard: The pins need to be shorted, otherwise the board assumes the socket to be empty and does not power it on. The mod is only done on the CPU because it is easy to do there and almost nothing to destroy, whether modding the pins would be pretty tricky. However if this tape is not meant to be conductive (and conductive tape shoul have conductive glue), but just to look metallic, it probably does not conduct properly at all or has a suface coating requiring lot of pressure on tiny probe tips to break.

That’s probably the tape I’m using. I’ll take it out and do it with graphite!

You might also check whether there is a board mod for IX Formula. Asus often routes the SKTOCC somwhere in the toplayer where vias brake the surface or installs deditcated debug solderpads on the board. Shorts there are just as effective as in the socket an easily done, if a ground pad is somewhere close. This is defintetly the prefered method on IX Apex, Hero and VIII Impact, but I do not know whether Formula has the same contact arrangement. (VIII Ranger didn’t, so I modded the much more valuable CPU, not the old board)

Hi guys! Can someone tell me what should I do with motherboardwihich BIOS supports only Skylake CPUs? There are no BIOSes supports Kabylake designed for this motherboard. Am I right with all instructions described here don’t intend for my case? Thx

after several attempts finally successfully installed 9400f on msi h110. and I isolated 2 feet of the processor

thank you

and turbo clock max on 4ghz

That should not be an issue. Both Coffee Time and revlaays tool will add support for the generations you want and in fact for some motherboards skylake UEFIs are the preferred base due to older IME.

This’ is really strange. Some people says I should do some deep BIOS modifications because of incompatibility between skylake family and coffee one. Are you sure that just using coffee time I can prepare skylake BIOS for 9th gen CPUs? Maybe there is one man at least who has faced the same problem and solved it succesfully?

Coffee Time does quite deep UEFI modifications. If your board requires something very specific, but I have never seen a board that is Skylake-only due to hardware issues. A lazy support not offering Kaby Lake UEFIs should not bother Coffee Time as anything related to regular CPU support is switched anyway. As said: It is not uncommon to start with KBL incompatible UEFI anyway, even if these are available.

Is it possible to use i5-9400 SR3X5 on motherboard gigabyte z170xp-sli? How can i get gop driver for this bios?

Bản mode bios cho main Asus B250H của bác nhận về chạy lỗi lầm gì ko bác, em đang tính nâng 2 con ở nhà lên mà phân vân ko biết nó chạy ổn ko

has anyone try to i5 9400f to motherboard supermicro b250/z270?

same as me, need to know the next step, very easy use the tool, but flash process maybe risky want to do the right step

So I tried it now with conductive silver, PC still starts up & shut down after 1 Seconds. Maybe I should use a ch3410a flasher? This is my BIOS chip I guess?

1 second ist most likely unsuccessful flash of descriptor region. System starts correctly, than IME kicks in an noticed "hey, I ain’t a Z370 and so I am not allowed to rund CFL, better shut off right now"
There are unlock mods to apply Z370-hack to descriptor without external flasher, but unless there is a specific one for your board, ch341 is often the easier solution. Especially with socketed UEFI chips (you got the right one) vs. pinmods on an a tiny ALC1150/1220.

Please check the image if all is good? I am yet to purchase the i3 9100f processor. Kindly advice on next steps .

So I bend some pins while putting in CPUs back & forth, thought the 9600k burned some but after a few days of bending pins back everything works fine again. I will order a ch3410a flasher now.

MSI Z170a Gaming PRO Carbon - Per thread below, desired Coffee Mod for 9900K (906EC or 906ED, unsure at the moment, plan to just add both ucodes)
MSI Z170a GAMING PRO CARBON ( need bios update for i9 9900k) WILL PAY 20Euro for your time!

With CoffeeTime I see warning, but not with Revlaay’s tool, >> This MSI motherboard can’t works with Coffee CPUs rev. U0/P0 - without changing BIOS region from compatible Z370 donor (if it exists).
Does anyone know which MSI Z370 may be suitable to use as donor?

Both tools break Z170 BIOS, and probably Z370 too, so I will redo much of the mod (inject of modified modules anyway) and especially microcode edits myself manually
But I just need to know what to use as starting base region, and I guess also need to know if anything specific needs done at ME FW side besides SKU Hack or change to Z370 etc
